I have been to the blue forest area, and had a great time. But I want you all to
know that the Dems are closing down areas all over the US, so get involved
before it's to late. Gold prospecting will soon be a thing of the past, do we want
rockhounding to have the same future. The laws have changed in California,Oregon,
Colorado, Alaska. Wyoming will be next if you do nothing.

I called BLM in Wyoming this morning and they said that no the Blue Forest is NOT
closed to digging they assured me it was OPEN to Digging, which is great because I'm headed that way in a few weeks.

Glad to see the examples of digging tools and the explanation of the time it takes to get good specimens. Too many "rockhounds" don't want to do the hard work of digging.

Feel fortunate yours is in dirt, my property is loaded but it's mostly embedded in basalt! And I don't own an excavator

Very good video on a over work area - the BLM has holded all digging in this area
for most areas. Check with the BLM Office in Green River, or Kemmer, Wyoming for maps that show a few areas open for digging wood. It is not the removeal of wood, but the new dirt roads that are develope in this area with off-road driving .

I was recently there and did not find anything. Guys at a nearby gas plant told me that some people had been there with a backhoe and spent several days digging. They took many specimens so it may not be as good as in 2010.

its pretty much played out now. I still go just to tinker around in the already dug holes. the holes where the backhoes dug out, you can stand inside them and the bank is above your head. they wont let you take any kind of excavators out there, so all of the digging has to be done by hand or hand tools.

Just look in the comments you will have it ruined in no time! You should be ashamed of yourself. You think nobody will come to see. There will be so many people there in a year or two and they will ruin it.
