    The latest Millésime is finally here! Shalimar Millésime Iris is a decadent vanilla heavy gourmand, enriched with suave, papery iris that shows crystalline facets. The best Millésime so far.

    I truly enjoyed seeing how excited you are having this beautiful fragrance. I received my bottle yesterday and I love it so much that when I had lunch with a friend today, we each ordered back up bottles. I wish Guerlain would make this one permanent. I’m sure that’s not going to happen lol

      Thank you! I’m glad you liked it!
      You never know what the future holds for any fragrance at Guerlain. Either Millesime could make a comeback under a different name at any time. Also, have you ever smelled the old Gourmand Coquin from Les Elixirs Charnels? It is coming back and it shares similarities with Millesime Iris

      @@MemoryFlo Don’t play with me lol. Are you serious? Gourmand Coquin was my signature in 2014. Do you know when? Thank you for the reply.

      I’m glad to hear that! It’s a wonderful scent, I myself own and wear it. We don’t know just yet, but it is coming under a different name in the L’Art et la Matiere. Something like Feve Gourmand or some silly name. Let’s hope for the best

      Oh, sure! Also, if you’re passionate about Guerlain, follow the fb group Honey Bees and Guerlainophiles, if you aren’t doing that already. That’s where most of the news come from

    Not sure why but Millesime Iris reminds me of a mix between Shalimar and Prada Candy. It could be the combination of powdery notes and caramel in Prada Candy. Great video, thanks!

      That’s very interesting! There’s some chocolate and caramel in there for sure! It reminds me of Gourmand Coquin, which will be making a comeback soon!

    @MemoryFlo, thanks for this review. I do enjoy this fragrance and not a huge gourmand fan. I do not understand the hate / negative reviews it receives in the Guerlain community. I presume that people had a preconceived idea of what a Shalimar Millésime Iris should smell like and it is just not this. Hence the disappointment

    • @MemoryFlo
      @MemoryFlo  11 місяців тому

      Oh, is there disappointment? I had no idea! The reviews I read were raving. And for good reason, the scent is beautiful

      @@MemoryFlo Well it depends. A few diehard Shalimar fans seem to be a disappointed. They wanted more of the Shalimar DNA coming through, or more iris. But people like me who are not diehard Shalimar fans (I am more a l'Heure Bleue / Mitsouko fan), do enjoy it. However I have also seen quite a few people who are not Guerlain fans, buying this new Millésime and enjoying it. The fact that it is also so gourmand is a sign for many diehard Shalimar fans (and Guerlains' fans as well) that the company is selling its soul and is jumping on the diabete sugary gourmand bandwagon to appeal more to masses and non Guerlain fans.

      I think it's because of the use of ethyl maltol and how popular gourmand scents are right now, which is very understandable. Almost feels like a sacrilege. I find it interesting, however. It is definitely modern, but all the Millesimes were to be honest. To my nose, the most creative one was Millesime Tonka, until I smelled Millesime Iris. What I like about Millesime Iris is this strange thing where as I'm wearing it, it feels I'm wearing two separate scents: a very familiar Shalimar and a chocolate-powdery almost Gourmand Coquin. What lies between them is a smooth, buttery iris, that is not floral, but dry, rooty and woody. The drydown on me is boozy chocolate. Definitely the most gourmand take on Shalimar.

    Loved this review and got some hints that I might like it too. 🎉 I will purchase a sample and see how it makes me feel. I am a Shalimar amateur, playing a bit the love/not love game until one day, probably...does this one give a past time vibe or is it a vibrant contemporary scent? Just trying to place it somewhere.
    I also got a ginger cat and, they indeed speak a lot. 😻

      Hey! Thanks for watching! It is definitely contemporary. All the Millésimes feel contemporary, to be honest.

    Shalimar leather 🤔 would be the best more animalic with the civet note 🫶🏻

      I did! Even reviewed it when it came out. It’s a beautiful Shalimar indeed. A lot more labdanum and more animalics. Didn’t get it though, couldn’t justify it as it is so similar to Shalimar which i do prefer. I am currently eyeing a L’Air du Desert Marocain. I do love a good labdanum
