Great panel and insights - really enjoyed how free flowing it was also Sudhir did a good job of keeping the conversation close to the craft. No one spoke over the other which is a big deal. The best roundtable of the year for me.
I can literally feel the aura Vetrimaan has among his peers. They’re actually looking at him before conveying their views. So nice to see when a real talented worker is regarded so highly.
1:22 - that was me. As a mother of 2 i hesitated a lot to watch the movie. Only after seeing an interview where he spoke about “chithha ve thotta kuda ne amma kita solu “ scene i decided to watch it. And it impacted me so much. All the pain, horror, fear were brought to me just from the scene where that fellow got vaseline and snacks. That’s it. That was my breaking point. I respect Arun so much for not handling all those scenes in a different way. Its not about “they exploit, they influence violence, etc” it’s just that it’s too much to handle for me. For this very reason i haven’t watched many movies.
Adding sean at this roundtable is a good one. Cause music will give a extra life to the scene which director likes to deliver his vision to the audience. Music helps in uplifting the pictures❤
1:05:44 Karthik is not completely right about Tarantino. There are two types of violence in Django. All violence on black are realistic and hard to watch, while Django's revenge are cartoonish, cathartic, enjoyable and celebratory.
Feels like he mentioned it as an example, As Tarantino is known famously for the cartoonish violence scenes which makes it more enjoyable in his stories.
@@gowthamjothi Yes, but not when showing genocide. Tarantino reduced the torturing scene of the African-americans in the theatre version of Django after he felt the audience who've seen the festival version were heavily traumatized by those scenes that they couldn't enjoy the revenge.
Easily one of the best run Roundtable’s of the year Sudheer is such an amazing host he is able to present his ideas with such engaging effect and raised some really interesting points in these directors films and gave them an opportunity like for e.g Vetrimaran to share his side of story when it comes to depicting scenes in the films which was commendably the best thing about Sudheer kudos to him.
Thiyagarajan Kumaraja should have been here in this round table. He is the real game changer of Tamil Cinema/ Indian cinema. His recent Modern Love Chennai - NOP redefines how a cinema should be.
Very good round table..but y most of the channels are avoiding Ayothi director.. he has given one of the best movies last year... Both the movie and the director is underated... and should be celebrated more..
To Nelson, you're the only one who can break the stereotype that a director has to write. Kv Anand was one more who did it. It's evident that you have a knack to entertain the audience although there's less weight to the story in your recent films. From what you spoke, you're burdened by star driven films and the writing process that goes into it for accommodating the stars. There's a lot of hangover from your prior movies like Doctor or Beast in Jailer. You can defend it as if that's your style but this would be repetitive even for your future movie and audience would find it out. You just remind me of David Fincher - great technician whom the film goers adore when he's in the project. He adapts from good writers and brings out his originality in the story. Please do that.
A huge shoutout to Sudhir to have kept this original, all these directors have been a part of multiple ’Round Tables’ it’s difficult to keep it unique. I love how he frames & puts his questions across.
Ya ya he is real game changer by showing castism in films and make other caste people are worst only thier caste people are very good and create sympathy they try to provoke people for their benefits not for that people who they show
1:31 - really loved what a pregnant woman role was in the movie. Above all she was standing while giving birth. Am glad the makers had knowledge about how a childbirth can be instead of the cliched childbirth scenes
he said he didnt show visaaranai and viduthalai to his kids.. Both are A certiffied films which are only meant or 18+ audience... why one should take child to a A certified movie!
@dhayamurugeshvfx2943 @K00711 he is saying that ppl are taking their children to the A rated movie without having no awareness regarding the movie. One incident happened during the release of Viduthalai in theatres, a lady was shouting at the police to allow her kids to watch Viduthalai. This is totally toxic by the ppl. Ppl should have sense regarding this. Vetri is clear and he doesn't allow his kids to watch his movies(A rated)
Waiting for the director's interview about Merry Christmas film and his earlier films after the release... It would be helpful for aspiring filmmakers!! Just a request
Vetrimaaran was bang on about Vadivelu. I've been telling everyone around me that he is one of the finest Tamil 'Actors'. Em Magan is one tiny example, but I'm glad that Vetri mentioned this.

Only that MAESTRO ILAYARAJA has been doing it from 1976 till date!
