I came late to appreciate him, despite being a big fan of boxing, and I am so annoyed at myself. Of course it was the Lacy fight that made me sit up and really take note. I was in the fourth row for the Kessler fight, sitting just behind the Kessler family, and, up close and in person, his size and speed were breathtaking. Unbelievably fast for such a big man, and amazingly big for someone you think doesn't look that large on screen. Awesome, awesome boxer. The small adjustments he makes with his feet, the slight changes of angles, disguise just how damn good he was. That third round vs Roy Jones was an eye opener. Whilst Roy Jones might have been past his best, I am still if the opinion Calzaghe would have won their fight even at their peak. Controversial, I accept, because I am a massive Roy fan too, but I just think Calzaghe would have controlled it. His workrate and speed would have proved a test, and I think Joe would have won on points.
Observing him from Italy we have always evaluated him as a great champion, the only bad luck in this system? As for boxing you have to be born or move to the United States, otherwise you will hardly be recognized as the best boxer, but believe me boxers like Calzaghe are born every 20-30 years! He was definitely a champion, so many skills in one boxer!

One of the most underrated boxers of all time 👌
Great authoritative refereeing too with the stoppage perfectly timed.

Totally agree.
Joe is the best British fighter ever
I agree that he is a real hero. He's an excellent role model for any hard young lads keen to prove their courage in the ring. Joe was always brave.
He pressed - and pressed - and whatever any opponent gave him... he always made them wish they didn't.
Truly amazing.
Siempre son buenos sus combates tiene muy buena técnica es valiente y divertido se crece frente a un buen oponente
Fight of the year in my opinion
when he smells blood your doomed
Gracias por el concejo , pero soy un caballero

Calzaghe dictated every single fight he was in.
