if your fishing on a day with no seaweed you can put a 2nd hook on the bottom of your torpedo weight, catches a surprising amount of bites sometimes
Quality and sound 👍🏻 gear and tackle description 👍🏻 awesome video bro
The person who gave you a thumbs down must be having a depressing day because he doesn't get to have your awesome looking dish.
Awe we thanks Q! Sometimes people do it on accident. Had a video where the thumbs down disappeared the next day. Pretty fascinating 🤣
I don’t know why people hate on this video it’s so awesome 👏
Dude what!! That looks amazing. Had no idea you could be so productive halibut fishing in the surf! Your filet jobs are seriously good too. And that meal looks unbelievable. Great job
Yea down here with calm enough warmer water and bait shallow, halibut will be present. Filleting is such a satisfying skill to learn. It’s quickly become one of the best parts of fishing for food. The process is just so gratifying
This is one of the best videos that I have seen in a while. Great fishing and cooking video. Good job on both catch and cook 👍

Dude awesome freaking video. I think with the knowledge you are sharing I am building up enough confidence to try out some surf fishing, any recommendations on waders? Or locations. I use to spear fish them out in Monterey Carmel area maybe like 16 years ago. Never caught them on rod and reel though.
Amazing video

Looks delicious 😋
Thanks for showing the surf dropshot rig for catching flounder in a surf with a bit too much seaweed. What's the best months to catch flounder off the surf in your area?
Right now! haha mostly end of spring as the baitfish start to school up and get close to shore. as soon as that happens and the grunion start going, it's prime time. Pretty much end of spring to end of summer into early fall
I’m going to try this rig next time
Good luck out there!
Hook2Cook thank you, I’ll go within the next week, I’ll let you know how it goes 😃
Nice halibuts by the way bro

Hook2Cook...Just recently came across your channel and love the videos. Subscribed instantly. Great commentary and explanation of what you guys were fishing with which can be applied in many areas in Southern California. Keep up the great job fellas. I love visiting the Santa Barbara area, I might have to bring my fishing gear next trip.
@@Hook2Cook i fish this spot sometimes myself! My lips are sealed but you might wana blur out the coast if you want to keep it a secret
Edward, where is that amazing spot? I live on the north end of Santa Maria that looks pretty local to me. Pismo? Oceano? She’ll?
Could you make a video on locations? I live in Malibu and piers here suck and so far Malibu beach haven’t had any bites need help ASAP!!!
Good video
Thanks Steve!!!
Just discovered your channel and really enjoyed the video. It was very informative! Quick question: what gear ratio is your 13 FISHING Concept A3? Does having a higher or lower ratio make a difference when fishing for Halibut? Thanks in advance!
Yes! Welcome! It’s the fast ratio I think it was 7:1 or 8:1…. Really lets you catch up the slack…. You can always reel slower
Primo job of filleting that Hali....nice knife too, what kind? Dig your rigging info, the detail makes a big difference!
It’s a pretty cheap knife just sharpened well. Thank you for the compliment and encouragement to do more like this!
No halibut in Hawaii so thus is a new challenge for me!
Nice broh thanks for the tip new suscriber
Just Subscribed a couple weeks ago! I live in Carp, so I love your surf Videos!! You guys ever fish down this way?
Wish I could send you a photo. Caught a 30” Halibut on 8lb test using a glow Sardine on Christmas Day! Keep the videos coming!
I’m a big Bass fisherman at Cachuma, Casitas, so I Love the idea of the drop shot! Gonna give it a run.
Awesome! Not too far away! We don’t usually fish that far south but maybe one day! If you’re on Facebook, find out group and post the picture. It HOOK2COOK FAMILY

Hi I’m fishing for perch with white braid Carolina rig with 12 pound, liter line haven’t caught a single fish. Is it to braid?
Subed ! Thanks for the tips! Total noob here 🤷🏻♂️😂😅
Everyone’s gotta start somewhere! 🙌 welcome to the H2C FAM
Great video brother! How many lb line u using on that bait caster ?
30# test
Could you use the hooks that are curved down more at the sharft or does it have to be a straight shaft?
That looked delicious! 👍 I agree with a comment below, how did anyone give this video a thumbs down?
Thanks! That’s a huge compliment! Can’t win em all 😅
Hey bro I live in San Francisco will these same technicians and rigs work out here Ik your in socal just a question
hay guys thanks for the awsome vids i have a question when surff fishing do you pay atention to the time of as in like EEErly moening or the two hour befor and after high tide ?? regarless of species im in the monteray bay
Usually when incoming tide coincides with daybreak because wind usually starts around noon or sooner for us
Could you please send me the link for the White Zoom Super Fluke? Thank you
Appreciate this fellas 👍🏾 what kind of rig you reckon we go with fishing (for halibut) off the pier? Heaps of the fellas here reeling in some hearty size halibut, using live anchovy. I’m liking your rig set up, and will give it go aye
This rig can work on a pier! You can also replace the hook with a dropper loop type leader to a hook and do anchovies with a size 1 or 1/0 live bait hook
@@Hook2Cook heck yeah! Appreciate this heaps
