Those things really should have been in the rules all along lol. I find it hard to believe competitors can literally choose how large their target area is(in the case of the kote). Since the roots of kendo are in actual sword fights, i think it makes sense that the size of the kote would be based on the size of the player. If your arm is longer, there is more area to hit. If you have a smaller head or a smaller torso, theres also less area to hit.

We may see the changes sooner here because we're so close to Japan, or we may not see them at all because hey, China. But it's still good to know in advance, and now I have a good reason why I won't change my armor the way they ask sometimes.
