I'm using Vital version 1.5.5 which you can get for free (full-featured) from vital.audio/#getvital
If you enjoy the software, consider upgrading to support the developer and get additional content.
this is mind-blowing, and i LOVE how you explain the thought process around these choices, what it's doing, why/how/etc. These videos are so good!
Very inspiring. i learned a lot from this. Thank you Eric! :)
One minor detail I forgot to add: Set the phase of LFO 2 (controlling tremolo) to 0.5 so that the guitar starts at full volume.
This is fascinating! I think what's happening here is you're basically creating a kind of Karplus-Strong model, since combfiltering is done by delaying the signal, just like Karplus-Strong works by delaying a short burst of noise! I would never have thought of that haha, super cool!
@Colt Seavers Thank you! I bet Vital would be good for a realistic harp sound. The guitar preset is included in "Sounds You Know": ericbowman.gumroad.com/l/soundsyouknow
@@schizodillo1952 Yeah this is typical usage of (keytracked) comb filters to do that 🙂
This is a really great tutorial!, thanks I have learned a lot.
Eric you're a genius, so glad I found your channel! I'm just starting out with Vital and your tutorials are invaluable! Thanks so much.
Truly amazing! Thank you !
Thanks for the great tutorial! I tried with a lot of reverb and delay to make it sound like a 60s instrumental/surf rock guitar and I'm quite happy. Honestly, it can't replace a real guitar of course, but it sounds a hundred times better than the usual guitar presets.
you've figured it all out! it sounds great and it's even tuned correctly :D
Very educational. Thanks for sharing.
Hella good sounds, 10/10 subscribed now
amazing, thank you
Brilliant!
Awesome! Love you! ♥
Dude your tutorials are eyes... er... ears opening!
Crazy 💥💥
I followed every step and was able to re-create the patch and learned a few good things in the process. I also notice if we assign a Macro to the Attack of Env. 1 we get a "pick scrape" sound.
What did he do with LFO 1? He says "initializer the preset" but LFO 1 is already active... 🤷🏽♂️
@@EBSMuzikI'm puzzled too.
he said he uses that as vibrato, probably synced to his midi, it doesn´t seem to be used in this preset@@EBSMuzik
@ericbowman As a newb to synths your channel is great thank you! I don't understand something in this video, there seems to be a preset using LFO1 because my first step with LFO2 sounds nothing like the video. Also the Hold and Decay numerical settings you used don't give me the same picture profile on LFO2 as in the picture. Help wanted!
Cool.
WUHAA!
wow
🤙
In the original patch (seen in the beginning of the video) you have 3 mods on NOTE. Are they not so important?
Good call. Those are left over from when I was trying to control the EQ frequencies with note but I abandoned that because I wanted the preset to be polyphonic. I forgot to remove the modulations when I took out the EQ.
Hi, my velocity dont change in function of the pitch note I play. Does anyone know why? :)
Not sure I understand, but the velocity shouldn't depend on the note.
@@EricBowman My velocity it doesn't work because i was using the computer keyboard to play, sorry 😅. Thank u for your awesome videos ❤️
Mine is muted for some reason
Electric bass you mean? But it's well done.
The beginning is kind of functioning like a baritone guitar and it's doubled with an acoustic bass sample, but it also sounds like a guitar in the upper register @0:30
ρɾσɱσʂɱ 👏
Wow, sounds soo much exactly like upright bass low register an kinda smash mouth distorted gtr higher register
Lfo 1?
Where assigned LFO 1?
Mod-wheel vibrato from my default preset
@@EricBowman thank you
This is a really great tutorial!, thanks I have learned a lot.
