- Who said you couldn’t have a beautiful yet functional space in your home without creating a gaping hole in your bank account? Let's debunk that myth, shall we? Our Tweak founder, Twinkle Khanna puts her hard hat back on in our new DIY design series, Spacelift, a show where she will be giving quick tweaks and tips on how you can do makeovers around your house.
In our first episode, we’re transforming a small balcony into a stunning yet efficient space. You’ll see just how much difference a small stand, a few paintings and a cantilevered table can make to transform your balcony into an area that will inspire you to have as much peaceful me-time as you can carve out from your otherwise noisy day.

I m gonna say as a middle class indian ,this decor is good if you are inviting someone over ,to show off a little but honestly we cant keep those things in balcony in this summer heat , we may colour coordinate but the things will loose there true colours in a week of sitting in the sun . what about everyday intensive cleaning because of all the dust .
To be honest just keeping a lot of plants like ,vertical garden which she is said is perfect and can always pull a chair in balcony to enjoy the mornings and evening. There is no space for laundry stand with this decor. Well its a suggestion.
Agree. Putting books, artworks, rugs in balcony means extra dusting and cleaning time. Guess it doesn't matter to those who have maids for that. I will have to spend extra 20-30 mins just to clean it every day.

Well said ..but Twinkle being Twinkle is not so practical about small spaces.I am not at all impressed with this balcony makeover .. Toooo big frames on the side wall, no space to move, cluttered n pushed big planter, chairs that block the way n will certainly fade in two weeks time.
She's not good at all for all the big talk n fancy claims.
She isn't saying to copy 😕 same, she is mentioning couple of tips whatever suits you, comfortable you can go with that
I always enjoy these kind of videos but I wonder who does dusting/ cleaning for all the items you put outside :)

@@mals4233 Not just that. Placing books in balcony seems wrong in so many levels. I have my own channel of rental friendly organization named @clutterdetox and I do these things in my home but i just do not get it when someone places rug in balcony. In an Indian household we believe in cleaning and mopping floors. Imagine the dust that accumulates in balcony. Also rain. A better idea is to get a few deck tiles if budget permits rather than a rug that is hard to maintain.

Hi Twinkle, the folding table was a great idea although I felt a 2 inch border stand would help prevent things from falling down. The ambience was already great with the flowing banana leaves so I felt the number of small plant pots could be reduced. But still u managed to create a cosy environment in that small space. I have personally always liked ur dressing style. So relaxed, yet easilly gorgeous.
even you a single person is not sitting comfortably in that balcony and you put an extra chair if another chair would also fill it will really congested to move one inch as well. if you ask my suggestion i would say keep side shelf, two chair which cover less space and a wall attached table which can be adjusted as per requirement and plants which see really necessary.

Hi, the balcony in question does have cleaning supplies and laundry off to one side. If not all, you could pick elements from this video to liven up your space too :)

Very innovative and easy to try these. Simple things can enhance the beauty of the balcony. Unfortunately being in Michigan the balcony concept is not there but backyard can be used. of course it's a great idea to have a space lift for the balcony 👍
but, living in India, people like me have one small balcony where I have to dry our clothes ; I have to use the balcony for utility purpose as I don't have space for utility; I can't keep fruits & snacks in the balcony as there r millions of mosquitos & flies all thro' the day 😕
i'd really appreciate if u could give some ideas as to what kind of mesh can be used to avoid the entry of mosquitos in our balcony without ruining the beutiful effect of the open balcony 👍👍

To get painting and wall decor to stay put on nails, I usually put some blue tac at the back and press it into the wall. Works like a charm :)
