The Hammer of Wrath live (with Awakening intro) and Shadowmaker are the other two songs in my top 3 Lovebites thrash songs. I love Holy War and Set the World on Fire, but they are four and five. Honorable mention goes out to M.D.O. for top five honors. This is my favorite metal band among the active ones, and naming a top 5 is hard. That is one of the things I used to miss about good metal. Thanks you Lovebites for breathing life into old school metal and doing it with your own flair and talent. Enjoy your journey, but do not miss out on any of the songs I mention here if you get goosebumps for good thrash metal. Oh, by the way they covered Painkiller...off my third favorite thrash album of all time. It is glorious.
@@jay_g1984 That is fair. Lovebites as a group can be hard to define because their music often blends metal genres by borrowing techniques. I would definitely say Shadowmaker is a power metal song with strong thrashy elements. In general I am not usually a huge power metal fan, but I love the Lovebites version of power metal. Shadowmaker is arguably their best song.
Never heard one song with two such great and different solos, and I grew up on the Allman Bros. and Derek and the Dominoes. M&M setting the bar very high indeed. Actually, Midori (first solo) did have formal training, but only starting at the age of 20. Miyako (dark hair) is self taught. Both of them are terrifying.
Everything they do is excellent. Each one is slightly different. They are, quite simply, the best rock band there has aver been. Bold statement, but by the time you are even a quarter of the way through their catalogue you’ll understand why I’m so confident to make it.

Not sure who told you that Midori had no lessons, but that's not true. She actually studied classical guitar for some years. She is a graduate from the Musicians Institute of Japan. She also learned piano at a very young age. But she didn't start learning guitar until the age of 20. I always suggest 'Scream For Me' live. You had it right the first time when you mentioned Metallica the you ruined when you mentioned slayer, I don't know why everyone thinks of slayer when they were second to none when Metallica and Megadeth broke out way before slayer. Just to be clear, when you said, "This girl over here has never had a guitar lesson in her life," I *think* you were talking about Miyako, but I want to be sure, because you paused the video with Midori front and center. Midori (blonde hair) actually studied guitar at the Music Institute of Osaka (I think, or it may have been the Tokyo campus - the band is from Tokyo, but she and Miyako both are from Osaka). Miyako (dark hair) has formal classical training on piano, but mostly did not take formal lessons on guitar, I believe. She has taken some lessons under Midori's tutelage to learn some of the techniques that Midori was taught at MI, but I do believe most of her guitar training has been self-taught.

And as long as Lovebites lasts this will be true, the heavy metal never dies, good old heavy, power, thrash metal of the 80's in the 21st century, .Of my 80's bands, Iron Maiden continues to work but unfortunately we will only count on them 1 more or 2 albums (age doesn't forgive), Mettallica for me has been on the decline (especially after the death of Cliff Burton, R.I.P), and Judas Priest is a shadow of what it was (age doesn't forgive, once again). Fortunately we have Lovebites to take the throne that will be rightfully theirs, Miho's departure was a heavy blow, but I think the ladies will overcome and find someone with talent to replace Miho. Lovebites: Always good for excellence and surprises. Whoever stays with them, will not regret it. Not 1 bad song on 4 consecutive studio albums (60 songs in total). What a balance. 🐺
And I was used to Iron Maiden for decades, so my bars of quality and expectations were set high already.
Not sure who told you that Midori had no lessons, but that's not true. She actually studied classical guitar for some years. She is a graduate from the Musicians Institute of Japan.
She also learned piano at a very young age. But she didn't start learning guitar until the age of 20.
I always suggest 'Scream For Me' live. Mainly because it is one of my favorites & has a great guitar battle at the end of the song.

When Miyako breaks out the Les Paul you're in for treat. Channeling Gary Moore in her playing. Miyako picked a guitar at the age of of 18, after being trained as classical pianist since the age of 3. She also plays a mean bass and a little drums. Listen to "Swan Song" with Chopin intro to a full range of her talent. Also "Empty Daydream" Where she starts off with Rachmaninoff. For a special treat "Burden of Time" live studio version where she plays the keyboard and guitar at the same time!!! Just to be clear, when you said, "This girl over here has never had a guitar lesson in her life," I *think* you were talking about Miyako, but I want to be sure, because you paused the video with Midori front and center. Midori (blonde hair) actually studied guitar at the Music Institute of Osaka (I think, or it may have been the Tokyo campus - the band is from Tokyo, but she and Miyako both are from Osaka). Miyako (dark hair) has formal classical training on piano, but mostly did not take formal lessons on guitar, I believe. She has taken some lessons under Midori's tutelage to learn some of the techniques that Midori was taught at MI, but I do believe most of her guitar training has been self-taught.

And as long as Lovebites lasts this will be true, the heavy metal never dies, good old heavy, power, thrash metal of the 80's in the 21st century, .Of my 80's bands, Iron Maiden continues to work but unfortunately we will only count on them 1 more or 2 albums (age doesn't forgive), Mettallica for me has been on the decline (especially after the death of Cliff Burton, R.I.P), and Judas Priest is a shadow of what it was (age doesn't forgive, once again). Fortunately we have Lovebites to take the throne that will be rightfully theirs, Miho's departure was a heavy blow, but I think the ladies will overcome and find someone with talent to replace Miho. Talent is something that is not lacking in Japan and especially in this band, I would prefer a lady but if it's an E.T. I'm equally satisfied .greetings from Portugal 🐺🤘🐺🤘🐺
