- You can learn how to Crochet a Classic Vintage Towel Holder for the kitchen in this tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. Oftentimes called towel toppers, these are nice accessories to decorate the kitchen. Also, you can easily hang this towel from any handle, bar, or rod. I hear they do wonderfully at craft fairs and events. Plus you'll learn how to attach crochet onto fabric with the blanket stitch. I'm using worsted weight yarn and a size H 5 mm crochet hook.

Excellent pattern
hello thank you for the video, I was wondering what size the towel was ? can you let us know how many stiches are across each row? i crochet some time short or add more lol ?
@judygriffith5651 very good 👍
I love your video
I HAVE SEARCHED FOR YEARS TO FIND A GOOD VIDEO FOR THE TOWEL TOPPER, BUT HAD NO LUCK UNTIL NOW.
MY HEART THANKS YOU❣
Glad I could help!
I love this pattern of yours, it's great thank you.
I was just amazed how simple this seems. I love how she shows each step. Thank you.
Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow and no extra chatter. Love it!
Awesome tutorial. I love how you speed it up so that the video isn't 20 minutes long. I can pause and go back if need be. It was easy and absolutely adorable. My Gram used to have these on her oven door all the time. I'll be giving them out as holiday gifts. Thank you so much.
Me too. I’ve been looking for a nice pattern like this for a while now. I especially like written patterns as back up.
Hi Donna, absolutely love love your videos, and so easy to follow that I was making one with you. Thank you, keep the videos coming, for new things to make
Thank you so much for the tutorial! My great grandmother made these for my family ages ago and they’re so old they’re unfortunately falling apart. So I’m taking it upon myself to make some for my family for Christmas! My mom has been talking about it for a long time so I know she’ll be happy!
I’m so glad you are making them for your family!
Donna, I wanted to thank you for your lesson on crocheting. I've had friends and family try to teach me for years. Your detail on how to crochet helped me SO much! ❤️
Wonderful! Glad the videos could help!
You are an excellent instructor. Very clear instructions, with enough detail to actually make the hanging towel 😃
Very happy to help! Thank you!
Wow, does this bring back memories! My Mema taught me to make these years ago when I was a little girl. Such fun learning to crochet with her. :D She's been gone for almost 20 years now, but every time I pick up a hook I remember her.
Aislinn Graves bless her soul and bless u 🙏
I don’t crochet but I happened upon this UA-cam video. OMG. You are by far the best teacher on line. Your voice is perfect, your tutorial is succinct without extraneous chatter. You must either have been an actress, taken voice training, been an English teacher or something similar. Your equipment is excellent as well. I am so impressed, I might even start to learn how to crochet. Really!!! It is no exaggeration to say it is outstanding. Your crochet projects are most beautiful as well.
Thank you very much for your kindness!
100% agreed! I learned crochet from Donna several years ago and continue to enjoy her videos. She made learning crochet easy and fun. I actually recently shared her channel with a coworker looking to learn crochet with UA-cam videos… not surprisingly, this video on towel toppers is the best one I have found. 🩷
No music, birds chirping, or dogs barking. 😂🥰
Ooo I’m so excited to try this! My fam has some from my great grandma I believe! I’m gonna take some of my grandma’s old towels from when she was alive and make some for my family so they have something of hers
That is so sweet! 😊
Best pattern I have found. Most cut the towels in half. Video is great it's clear and to the point.
For gifts, I go to dollar store and get yarns & towels......my friends love it when I get seasonal towels that they can switch out throughout the year!
I even cut them in half. More gifts! Dollar Tree towels are becoming more and more microfiber. I’be made 2 with one towel. I’ll have to wash one to see how it holds together.
Thanks!
Thank you very much! 🥰
I don't know why it's taken me so long to make one of these but after making one today, I know I'll be doing more. Very clear tutorial, Donna, thank you!
Its actually very fast. I made 4 kitchen towels in 1 day.
This is a fantastically easy video to follow, thank you so much. I am a beginner and appreciate your careful instruction and your pace
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing this pattern. My daughter in law wants some new kitchen towels for Christmas.
You are so welcome!
I"ve become totally obsessed with making these...I can't stop! Thanks so much for such an awesome video. Now I have to go find some more buttons!
What type of yard is used? Sorry I'm an absolute beginner.
Acrylic 4 worsted weight is what she used. Red Heart Super Saver.
I have used this video over and over again. Thanks for the tutorial!
Great to hear!
I love how you used 2 strands on the towel. Thanks for the great tutorial
You’re welcome 😊
This brings me back and makes me miss my grandma who crocheted those.
🥰
I was extremely impressed with your tutorial. You explained everything to perfection!❤
Thank you very much!
Hi Donna! I am new at crocheting. My mother was awesome at both knitting and crocheting. She tried to teach me when I was young but I am a leftie and I probably was not very patient then. You are an inspiration! Your teaching is very clear and I am now able to love it. I wanted to make your double yarn slippers last month but I wasn't sure how to start with 2 ends without balling half of the skien and then cutting it in half or buying 2. I didn't realize, until watching this, that you can get an end from 2 places. (Again I am new :) Now I'm gonna make those slippers. I really will! Thank you very much, Gail
Excellent instruction. Guidance without other distractions. Achieving success with the first towel. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Love this. You make it look so easy. Definitely will try this.
I always wanted to know how to do this. Thank you!
I feel like going straight home and doing this to my tea towels!
I bought some of these at a craft sale one time and have always wondered how to make them. Now I know they're super simple! I'm going to go just how shopping this weekend and make a bunch of these as Christmas gifts! Thanks for the great video :-)
Ditto!!!
This is so btfl
.your instructions are so clear and easy to understand..thx so much for this demo..I don't know why people gave a thumb s down..just trying to be mean I guess..I will pray for them..you keep up the good work. .i love watching your videos. .i love to crochet and knit also....just found and subscribed to your channel. .
Best pattern I have seen of towel hanger! Now if I could just get my blanket stitches straight like yours, Donna! Thanks!
Awesome! I’ve been looking for exactly this pattern! Being stuck home due to Virus, I can do these! I already had towels, yarn and buttons for a few months. Just been too busy!
Thank you!!!
I've enjoyed your videos for a few years and I'm always telling my new crochet friends about your website. I especially appreciate that you don't waste time "chatting". I've taught crochet and have used your videos to help me learn to say the right words when teaching. Thank you!
My sister has been bugging me to make her some of these. I’m definitely going with your pattern. My mom made a ton of these, but she always crocheted right into the cloth which was difficult. I love that you sew a row of stitches first and then crochet into that. I also love that you use two strands of yarn, which I think will give it more body and make it nicer looking. I’m heading to Walmart for supplies, and can’t wait to get started!
Happy this could help!
Just wanted to say Thank you so much for this video tutorial. My mom used to make these and she didn't teach me so finding this and making it brought sweet memories and feelings back. Thanks again!
Happy to help!
I love your pattern. It’s very easy to follow. I used the written instructions, and I especially liked how one could adjust it if ending up
with only 7 or 8 stitches.
There are a ton of these towel topper tutorials and THIS, by far, IMHO is the BEST one!!! Thank you!!
Thank you for another brilliant towel holder pattern. I think I’m going to like this one better than the last. Poking those holes was a bit tedious. But I made a bunch of those for family and friends. I am doing another right now. My next one is going to be the new pattern. Can’t wait. Again thanks.
I was looking for a tutorial on towel toppers and I came across your video. This is perfect for what I wanted. Thank you for sharing. 💜

I used an ice pick to make the holes for the darning needle in my tough towel fabric. Thanks for sharing.
Great tip!
Place a wooden dowel, such as a chopstick in the fold to help with holding on to it while sewing and keeping the stitches uniform.

Made my very first one today! I confused my white DK weight with my sport weight one somehow and it came out wonky BUT I did it!!! Thanks so much! My mom's been asking me to make her some as soon as I learned to crochet. I can now use up my useless button stash.
Everything you do is excellent , I am fan of you for long time but my projects aren’t exactly good, anyway I keep doing and looking your job. Thank you
