Yep it's wonderful way to explain where he'd got the idea from, sure you could have just assumed he had a book about creatures and chose to best one's for the job, but with this tie to his childhood it fits really well with him having frumpkin around. Those not only being reminders of a better past but also motivation to finish his mission and be able to return to a similar state again.
This is just like the moment Taste of Taldorei and that spa resort place (this one was Aabria DM'ing for EXU) coming into existence. Its totally in character for Caleb, and entirely out of Matt's reins. He cant take it away bcs its the player's narrative moment, he just have to live with the fact that its canon now

On the one hand, this is absolutely hilarious. But on the other hand, it totally tracks that a memory of happier times with his family from before Trent got his claws in him would be something Caleb would cherish more than just about anything else in the world. So of course it makes sense that as an adult he would A) collect things he always wanted as a child as part of the process of reclaiming himself, and B) would be super jazzed to meet the man responsible for making those things

On first watch I quickly caught where Caleb was going with his opening lines and started laughing even before the cast. The first words I remember saying once I caught my breath was “I love you, Liam.”
Honestly, this is my favorite late game bit. There is an approximately 50 percent chance that the character the hells may meet in the future is a C-Popper.
Yknow, I wonder if Caleb was an “original” C-Popper. Like, we know that Nana Mori’s deal with Chet was probably what made the C-Poppers a thing retroactively, but it’d be neat if Caleb had always been a fan, no Hag magic required.
@ I think for a hag who can near-effortlessly control the flow of time in her neck of the Feywild relative to the passage of time on the Material Plane; going and finding a couple dozen random people and either weaving new memories of childhood wonder and discovery of others with shared interest, leaving a few wooden gifts and letters of correspondence with a burgeoning community - or just straight-up altering their past to make just a little change in how their life went when they saw a particular wooden toy in a storefront - is more than reasonable. She’s called the Fate-Stitcher for a reason.
This is exactly why campaign crossovers should happen. When players have a bit of fun with each other by expanding the lore without breaking the game in anyway. That said... Exandrian Faberge Eggs being made by Chetney makes me think the Rexendrum Toy Authority is the big bad behand all campaigns LOL
New lore: Caleb finding the egg is the real reason he didn't try to mess with time travel. Can you imagine the scene? He teleport the book to his parent's grave now with egg in hand!
