- There are very few places left for Dave to try like De Fazio's, but when you find one you have to try it.

I really love it when Dave gives it a high score, it's life changing for these hard working people.
8.2 isn't that great. To anyone with common sense it means it's a B, and not even a B+.
@@hulksmash8159 8.2 from Dave is like 9.5 from anyone else
@@hulksmash8159 new here?
@@hulksmash8159 8.2 is a massive score. Forget the generous 7s he’s given out since COVID no average spot gets an 8
@@hulksmash8159 8.2 is amazing when 9.4 is basically a 10
Dave stunned into silence eating that cake was priceless...
it's an instant 9.4 if Dave is silenced, everybody knows the rules.
Homie got a food high 😂😂😂
Italy has the best desserts by far over any country, that's called family tradition recipe passed into America. I knew he was gonna shit his pant.
Knocked his dick clean off!
the music going along with it makes it so much better🤣🤣🤣
That saxophone hitting right after Dave takes his first bite of the cake sums up just how perfect this review is. Idk what it is about this one, but it hits different than the rest.
The seated review helps. I'm always stress-watching the pizza box when he's standing and swinging it around on a busy sidewalk.
@PhaedruS007 that's actually my favorite part hahahaha. Love the chaos. But this one is just different to me. So different I made the 3 hour journey. Place is legit.
@@martin1234512345and how was the hangover cake????
"I don't even want to eat this." *Gives the cake a 9.4*
You forgot the last part of his sentence lol
Made me laugh the way he said it
He was blown away! So great to see
A review over 10 minutes, you know it’s going to be good.
I’m gonna go get the papers, get the papers.
The three min ones are never special.
We needed this
@@matthew568 and if they're in the 2 minute length it's a 6.5

2 years later and the shot of Dave taking the first bite of the hangover cake, the trumpet and the zoom in. It’s all a work of art😂
The best 10 seconds UA-cam has to offer... poetry in motion, captured through a lense, and a microphone...
I want to go here in the summer and recreate the whole vibe…, the heat, the music…and scooping my d*ck off the deck after eating the hangover cake.
This is probably the best review I've seen Dave give, he even admitted it should've been closer to a 9. It's rare to see the pizza man enjoy both pizza and dessert but want to jump right back to the pizza. It must just be that good!
I just picked up some defazios. This pizza is so good I literally cannot deal. And the people who own it are genuinely good people. So worth the wait!
Out of all the pizza places around here they definitely are not only the best but the nicest people ever!
Love them too. And I love verdiles pizza as well.
I have such a smile on my face. Seeing owners that have such a passion for their food just melts my heart. Now if only California had these pizza places I'd be in heaven. Still have to visit the one that was reviewed on Fairfax in LA
Which one was that?
@@mike88g1 it was across the street from canters. I think it was called prime
He loved it
Prime is great. Get the Sicilian.
Prime is really good. Totally recommend the Grandma there.
This was one of the best reviews I’ve seen in a long time. Good stuff Prez…
Definitely in the one bite re-watchable loop.
This is Anthony Bourdain level of review
No. He underrated the pizza. He ate it too hot.
@@bmwforlife6951 Well obviously 🙄

this place deserves a rescore in the future for sure, I've never seen dave look so satisfied and he knows it's better than what he gave it initially. this video was great.
I’ve watched this review 3 times now. Never been more proud of Troy. He’s not kidding, it’s incredible pizza. Totally worth the drive. It was already extremely busy, I can’t imagine what this review is going to do to their business. If you plan on going, call ahead several hours in advance. Seriously.
already an hour wait for pick up during the week. 2 hours on weekends!
I'm from Albany, born in 71 got alot of people in Troy.. Graduated from Colonie High in 89'.. Moved to Atlanta in 99' Been here in Florida since 14'.. Troy always had some bomb as* mom and pop restaurants, especially pizza..Makes me wanna fly home..Down here u always see "NY" style pizza..But they just don't know!!!.For some reason when I hear Troy, I think of Green Island, back when the bridge collapsed..Go figure, if your 50+ and from the capital district you know what I'm talking about 💯💯💯💯

Prez worth 100M+ getting giddy over classic pizza joints 😂 man of the people
Dave only keeps it real
Why, would you stop eating pizza if you had that type of coin?
He worked hard to support independent pizzerias which were being destroyed by the lockdowns whole the government kept the big chains opened, different rules for small folks. Keep supporting the mom and pop businesses folks.
fuck the big chains, i have my pizza dude here in sweden. Amazing kebabpizza, a swedish special pizza its amazing.

This place crushes. Glad to see you make it around the Capital region this year Pres.
Not hating on that pizza, I'd smash that but I've seen pizzas like that get a 6.8 from prez for being too greasy. Like I said, that pizza looks amazing to me but from what I've learned after watching 100+ pizza reviews, that pizza's too cheesy/greasy for prez's taste.
THE FRENCH LAUNDRY....is the Napa restaurant!
@@wujujuju defazios is too cheesy for me usually and bread is doughy. they got homemade sausage though, the crumble, insane good. the white clam sauce pizza is banging too. as is their pesto pie. but yea cheese and dough makes the slice
@@Xr3737 Albany area pizza is generally crap...the area is culinary wasteland.
@@wujujuju The crust made it unique.
The owner looked so proud and happy to tell Dave about the way they rise the dough. Great stuff
Dave! You have to do this all over again. This deserves more, you know that. Everybody knows the rules. And the game has to be fair. Come again, let it cool off a bit and score it again. It was an 8.7 or more.
“I haven’t eaten it and I already wanna score it”
That’s what Dave said first time he met Debbie.
Lmaooooo you’re wrong for that

This hands down is one of my favorite reviews...Rocco has a genuine likable personality... His love of his food, neighborhood and family traditions is so authentic. I love when he passionately describes the bread dough crust. I'll def make the trip from Jersey to try this pizzeria.
Hes kind of a dick tbh
This is hands down my most favorite review ever. I don't care about any place that's scored higher - I MUST go here. Bucket list shit.
When Dave is eating the cake, the song in the background makes it all the better. Chris Botti with Paula Cole- the very thought of you.
I got chills from the cake review. Never happened before.
Thought that was Chris at the start, too!
Thank you kind sir.
Obviously we couldn't taste it, but as soon as you opened that box, I knew that was one of the most beautiful pizzas I have seen. So glad you proved my hunch correct Prez.
For anyone wondering about the trumpet music that starts once he tries the cake, it’s The Very Thought of You by Chris Botti.
Bless you
I don’t even care about pizza that much but I love watching people like this owner who just CARES and puts thought into what he’s doing and makes sure people have the best experience possible. Dave did a great service giving the owner a chance to share the family history too. I wish this place nothing but the best
Should of been a 9.2 the way he was talking it up.
@@GetOffMyPhoneGoogle lol, seriously. Everyone knows he's going to shove it in his gullet as soon as he walks out the front door (or takes a seat in this case), so they should just hold on to it for like 7 minutes so he doesn't burn himself and give a lower rating.
Exact score I was expecting too!
He doesn't give 9s anymore. You gotta think of his scale as 1-9 instead of 1-10
@@sdfdf46 that's true.

It’s rare to see Dave sit at a table!
He was getting tired of the pants comments.
Rare to see dave not say nothing about the flop and try to hide it
He's still wearing the elf pants. You see them at the very end.
He should have a pop-up cruiser table and bar stool (provided his cameraman wants to lug a cruiser and bar stool around : ) near the entrance of every restaurant he visits (and the cruiser should have a fitted red and white checkered tablecloth). This would give him time to shoot the shit (we all want to hear it) while a thicker than normal pie has time to cool down and temper. And when ordering, he should let the line cook know that he likes a crispy crust. Just saying.

Dave, the last American hero. Saving small business wherever you go, god bless you buddy! You are the real Pres!
Let’s get one thing very clear here. Dave’s a great guy and I love his videos. I’m sure he’s saved a few business’. This is not one of them… one an average dinner rush it’s an hour and a half wait minimum. This place is set in stone.

The vibe there sounds and looks so cool...
It’s great to see such fine old eating establishments that have staid the course and remained open! Such a nice history lesson for all of us. Thanks Dave!

One of the best reviews period. From the heart.
I was born at Leonard hospital, lived on 1st, 4th street, then J Ahern apartments...This was in the early to mid 70's...I remember DE Fazios fondly...Along with Jack's hamburgers and Ted's Fish Fry. I haven't been back since we moved to NC in 1978. If I ever get back, I want de fazio's, and Friehofers!
Jack's and Ted's still going strong
that cake bite was cinematic
the head tilt, the eyes closed, the music on cue, dramatic pause,..."that's a nine four"
I hope they are blessed with enough success and loyalty to keep it up and running for generations.
I assure you they are extremely busy every night before this review. I’m actually said they are blowing up this much for selfish reasons 🤣
@@scorpionsson7087 good to know hey if it keeps your place extra open even better but I feel for ya with the wait you will have to endure. I just imagine what was lost on that block for good food. I’m coming from tokyo to visit this spot if Dave recommends it so strongly.
One honest review from the Troylet, everyone knows this guy's business is going to be booming after this video gets around!
i live close by and have never heard of this place so i deff plan on getting this for dinner tomorrow night. going to be an insane wait i bet but i dont care lol
The place is already booming...I live a block away, and it is already an hour wait during the week! That is before this!
Yup, already booming! 2 hour wait for pick up on weekends!
thing is if they make good food they dont really need any help if theyve been around, its only a father and his son, you can only prepare so much food in a day.
Know what I like about Dave? He treats everyone the same. He's a real grounded dude and it's refreshing to see it in someone who is both rich and popular.

Watched you every time from Central America, and have to say this one has to be number 1 after lock down edition. Great vibe
Heavy Troylet vibes coming from the pooled water on the tables and chairs and the stringed lights. Gotta love it though.
You know someone knows Troy when they break out the Troylet. Just a shot up 787 from Smallbany.
I’m so glad you’re doing reviews around Albany right now. My wife and I just moved to the area and are looking for our next favorite pizzeria. We moved from Syracuse area and always went to Paladino’s in Mattydale, we really enjoyed that place.
Go here when you can, the last decade or so DeFazio's has been my spot. It was busy before and I'm sure it's mobbed now, but the pizzas are always unbelievable.
Defazio’s is standout pizza. Everything on the menu is good.
If you get a chance to get Defazio’s around st Patrick’s day the Reuben pizza is out of this world. Corned beef flat and rye crust.
Savrano in Albany is also amazing. Get the zucchini and tomato pizza.
Purple pub is also a great hole in the wall family run place. Dine in if you can. It’s only really good hot and greasy!
@@Whit1800 Purple Pub has shut down now unfortunately. The kids didn't want to continue the family business. My parents grew up going there and I would often stop there for a pint after stuffing my face with Gus's Hotdogs.

Thank god!! Sick seeing him in the capital region, heard he was at Latham’s Paesans too. Wish I could’ve met him
Pizza looks outstanding
I grew up in Troy, and my mother being Italian had of course her own gravy recipe. She'd get her sausage from DeFazio's, her meatloaf mix (for meatballs) from the Troy Pork Store, and her tomato's from any one of the Italian import stores. I still have her recipe, and while I'm not in Troy anymore, this video makes me want to take the trip over. Great Review - was hoping you sometime make it to Kay's Pizzeria - and although an out of the way trip, it's another institution of the area worth the ride - about 25 minutes south of DeFazio's and great end landing location as it's right on a lake. Maybe next Saratoga trip you can add that one to your itinerary.
yea Kay's is def famous pizza spot, nice location too. I miss Troy pork store, the owner/butcher used to hook it up when we rolled in on our skateboards. first time i tried liverworst and i liked it. Famous lunch would get the hots dogs from there, get the buns from Bella Napoli and make the zippy sauce and serve up at famous lunch. All the businesses in town helped each other.
