WHAT WORKED FOR ME. On a deflated mattress I found the hole and I took piece of plastic bag and pushed it in the hole to be the backing of the hole. I had regular nail glue and I squeezed it in the hole to fuse the plastic bag to the back of the hole. That fusing allowed the slit( shape of the hole) to stick together as well. I had flex seal clear in my cupboard and I sprayed it once every couple of hours for about 3x, giving it time to sorta dry in between the sprays. The next day I blew up the bed and gave it an extra spray for good measure. It's holding up fine. I applied pressure when I sprayed the last spray to see if any bubbles was escaping. This process makes sense to me because it's not just one side that is sealed but both sides. I did not scrape the velvet off the bed.
Never thought to shave the little fibers off of my air mattress before patching it. Thank you for making this video. I am happy to report that my mattress is all cleaned up and shaved and is going on it's first date. Lol, but seriously thanks for the help man.
@@MrFredsDIY These airbeds are "Flocked;" which is not to be confused with what one may feel when waking up on the cold, rocky ground because the darn thing got a hole in it. "I woke up on the Ground", thank you, you fine sir for the comedic approach to this video. I do to wake up on the floor, but my air mattress is not to blame.....I just cant make it to it after I drink a keg of Tequila in the living room. Cheers!!!
I didnt have a patch so i used gorilla tape. I didnt know you could shave it and that helped a ton! Thanks for sending me in the right direction with this video man it helped me out bigtime
Mine too😭 Mine has seams that go all the way down& that's where the hole is.. it could still work, if the patch is pressed into the seam/divet (hopefully..) Other sources said to sand the "fluff," I'm just scared of making it worse.
FWIW if you have the time I think it is worth using a solvent glue type repair kit not the self-adhesive kind. That way you have a decent chance of a permanent repair even if the hole is on or near a seam.
Currently going through this on an old air mattress that's already been properly patched on the 'fuzzy side' haha now I've got another small whole on the same side but in one of the seems. Cool video and great idea with the shaving
If you pour a mixture of water and dish soap, the air leaking out will make bubbles out of the mixture but using water will probably work too. I can usually hear where the holes are coming from so I just listen after I inflated it and I will use my finger or hand to feel the air thats leaking out but all the holes I found weren't small.
😳😳😳😳GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They should include YOU & a razor in the fucking PATCH INSTRUCTIONS!!!😂 🙄Glad I didn't use the whole thing! Let's try this again BALD shall we!?😁 THANK U SO MUCH!!!🥰
I have bought alot of air beds, my tip is, when you buy an air bed, get another one, a spare have it handy when the first one brakes down! You have another one to sleep on, i could never fix a broken air bed ! Now i have a real bed it will last longer then an air bed!!!
I have had limited success fixing this kind of hole. I have used superglue (gel) before . Try building up two or three layers with some dry time in between. Good luck!
Here's another tip to repair your mattress before you put on your sticker your patch get super glue put super glue on your hole let it dry thoroughly then put your patch on give it the double protection then get some black electrician tape then cover your patch with the tape now it's really protected
Thank you for watching! “Wood alcohol” is methanol sometimes called methyl-alcohol as opposed to ethanol. Methanol is very flammable and a great solvent because It dissolves a longer list of compounds than ethanol. My dad used wood alcohol to strip tree sap from his windshield, a trick he learned working for PPG.
Nice repair, but you have broken all safety rules: 1. sharp tools on easy-to-puncture items; 2. sharp tools left around on the freshly repaired items; 3. air-inflated (and therefore to be several times expanded) items exposed to direct sunlight for several hours. I don't know what your professional is, but you might reconsider some safety measures to take (just in case).
@@MrFredsDIY OMG, you were shaving the PVC with a razor-sharp knife just to patch up a tiny hole. (It's like removing an old sticker off of a gas tank lid by burning it off with a blow torch.)
@@nickyb2u Hot Glue is basically polypro or other similar low energy plastics. They stay flexible. That's why you can bend the sticks pretty far and they don't crack. SuperGlue or other types of cyanoacrylate adhesives and epoxies are all stiff and they crack when flexed. So I'd call them brittle. My concern with any hot glue is will it stick to that kind of plastic? I don't know, but one could try. If it didn't stick, then I'd go with the patch. If you really want to try cyanoacrylate adhesive, I'd read the post below this one where it failed.

do you need to put on cologne after shaving the mattress?

Steph Ayala 🤦🏾♂️😂
Don't forget to place something heavy on the patch for 12 hours. That step was neglected in the video.
I always cut the corners off my patches... A round patch is more secure in my opinion. Great vid..
Thanks for the comments!
Fuzzy, hair, fur, crushed velvet...those are just good words to use in a vid. Love it.

Cool video but we just ended up putting a bigger hole in our air mattress. Maybe I am better at shaving myself 😂
The last part of the vid with the knife resting on the mattress. I am so glad it didn't pop. Thank you for the help good man.
thanks BRO saved me $60 👍
Good luck shaving ya fuzzy bits & applying a patch when the leak is down in a seam.
That is what I though. you're also supposed to put in on when the mattress is flat and not inflate it for 12hrs.
🙄Exactly where my bullshit is

Buy some 'Air Stop' and you don't need patch at all. It's available on Amazon.

Genius. You just saved me $400. Thank you!
DAMN!😳 What kind of Air mattress do YOU have!? 😂
Might as well buy an actual mattress if you're spending 400 lol wtf
Rich ass bitch
$400? For an air mattress? Why?!?
very good trick. with the razor
Isnt it bad to pour water on the fabric side? How do you dry it? Mold is a concern
Nicely done my friend I am going to give it a try thanks
Your a life saver💯💯💯 Good Lookin big fella!!!💪🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🏌
Thanks, really helpful
That was ingenious - thank you thank you
Sweet! Saw another video shows using hot glue gun to patch the hole. Glad I may be able to save mine since the hole is near the seam.
And now I'm gonna take my super sharp knife.... ahh!
Good job. You Did a great job explaining it
You put the patch on while the mattress was inflated?
Thanks.
Nair takes the fuzz off after 15min.
Use sandpaper and duct tape to clean the fluff off.
How do I find da hole yours seem easy to find I have no idea where mines is so do I pour water all over or what?

Soapy water creates bubbles so u can locate the hole. That was his first step
I keep sleeping on the same air mattress until the hole becomes bigger and I can find

What type of patch do I purchase after following the de-fuzzing? I didn't see that info......

super glue makes the material more brittle and prone to cracking
Used soapy water still can't find the hole

have u ever tried hot glue
air beds are junk after they get a hole in them - even after you think you patch them - try patching a hole in the seam - it does not hold
I appreciate it but non of those sportsmans stores are not in Puerto Rico thanks anyways
Why. The hell did. I click on this. I was watching wrestling.
HEARTLESSFOX 007 ...I think it's because it said (fuzzy side) in the title
Tried the patch. It didn't work!
Didn't for me either

Sounds about right, superglue repairs tend to be brittle so should be a last resort
have u ever tried hot glue
Bad idea it is brittle and will pry pop right off. Superglue or epoxy glue types would work much better.
