  • Nadis are subtle energy channels in the human body that can get blocked due to several reasons. The Nadi Shodhana Pranayama is a breathing technique that helps clear and purify these blocked energy channels, thus allowing the life-force (prana) to flow freely. Clearing mental clutter and calming the mind, this practice also lowers one’s heart rate and helps harmonise the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Add this practice to your daily morning or evening ritual to reap all of its benefits. #SRMDYoga #Yoga

    • @dr.vishnuudhan

Blocked nostril indicate the physiological arousal or stress in body. Before begin the pranayama practice, one must practice asanas and natural as well as yogic breathing to be in a poised state. Once stress level is normlized, active state of mind and body setteled down to normal then you will observe that both the nostrils are equally open. There after one can practice this pranayama, or any other pranayama. Thanks. I hope this clears your doubt.

@@MM-dz9fk Hi, You may experience headache when you initially begin your practice. Generally it is a mild headache as your body is releasing toxins as you balance your breathing. You may also have a blocked nostril. This is quite normal. Continous practice will help balance this breathing and relieve the headache. If the headache persists everytime or is quite severe please verify your technique with a qualified yoga practitioner. Hope this helps!

@@molinparekh1386 Thank you, yes, my left nostril feels completely blocked. I tried to clear it several times but it still always feels blocked. Would a steam inhalation with hot water and salt in a bowl help?
