    If you flip your whole Cricut mat upside down and take it off of the Vinyl instead of the vinyl off of it, it will prevent the vinyl from curling!

    I pull the pieces from the pattern and leave the large background intact so I have a pattern to put the glass back into for reference ❤

      Oh that's a great idea!. The backing is kinda slick but you could draw in the blank space between vinyl with a sharpie to help you see the pattern. Love it!!!

    Make more videos!!! I want to see you apply the sticker to glass and remove the sticker. Is there left over residue?

    • @bjansson
      @bjansson 3 роки тому

      OK! LOL :) I'll make some more when i get back from vacation. To answer your question, there is no residue left over from the vinyl at all. Just clean the glass before you put on the vinyl pieces and they will stay on nicely while cutting, grinding even using a saw. Then just peal the vinyl off. Voila! :)

  • @akmartinez419
    @akmartinez419 4 роки тому +3

    If you turn the mat over and peel it off the back of the vinyl, it will come off a lot easier and reduce any tearing.

    Can you make larger patterns by making multiple smaller prints? Also can you determine the width of the pattern line? Example is lead came patterns need a 2mm or 3/32 line to fit pieces together

    • @bjansson
      @bjansson 3 роки тому

      Hi Carlye, as long as you are using photoshop or another graphics program you can control everything. Cricut cuts very precisely. For instance, i used this exact method to cut out a tiffany reproduction lamp pattern. Not sure if i did this right but here is a link: facebook.com/StainedGlassFanatics/posts/265062522018243

      @@bjansson one more quick question leaning on your experience, do you use the removable Premium Vinyl or the Permanent, since if ring saw is used in cut may get wet, but then is sticker residue an issue? Since temporary use for us, wondering if extra $ for perm necessary.

  • @argusfleibeit1165
    @argusfleibeit1165 4 роки тому +2

    It took me over a year of reading about these machines before I realized it was "cricket" and not "cry-cut". Still retraining my brain. How expensive are the vinyl sheets? Could you use, say, contact paper cut to the right size?

    • @stainedglassfanatics
      @stainedglassfanatics  4 роки тому +1

      Me too! I got schooled at Michael's store tho LOL. Contact paper is an interesting idea. The vinyl isn't too expensive and Amazon has some really cheap versions. Cricut will cut almost anything including copper sheets for embossing. Time to play! :)

      I've used both and they both work just fine. If you are using a saw i would use permanent vinyl though because it does have a firmer grip.

    how do you make your foil or came lines smaller

    • @stainedglassfanatics
      @stainedglassfanatics  Рік тому +2

      That's the tricky part. You have to prepare the graphic in Photoshop, or at least that's the way I do it. My purpose for this video was just showing people that they could use Cricut and vinyl for a stained glass pattern instead of the usual print, cut and trace the pattern on with a sharpie. I really need to make another video showing more details.

    • @beckyhaaland5231

    Would you make the pattern a mirror image to apply it to the back of the glass for cutting on the flat side?

    • @stainedglassfanatics
      @stainedglassfanatics  2 роки тому +1

      Actually Cricut has a 'mirror image' button you can select when you're getting ready to print. No need to change the pattern at all! I love Cricut! :)

      Hi Mary. I bought the pattern online (etsy is fantastic for patterns!) and then just imported it into photoshop. To select the dark lines you use the wand tool. I'm planning on making a more detailed video soon. Thanks for watching! :)

    How wide (mm or pixels) should the line be for copper foil?

    • @stainedglassfanatics
      @stainedglassfanatics  2 роки тому

      Good question. I only work in copper foil so I try to get my lines as small as possible so I can still weed them out. You want to see as much of the beautiful glass as possible and minimize the weight of the solder.

    Hello! I’m new to photoshop and I have uploaded my pattern, but it doesn’t come up transparent. I also don’t understand why you said you shouldn’t have the pattern as a PDF-what should I do then? The is a great video! Thanks for posting! Crackhead!😂😂😂
    And the jeopardy music! 😂😂😂

    • @stainedglassfanatics
      @stainedglassfanatics  Рік тому

      Thank you for the nice compliments! I love a person with a great sense of humor 😂 You can use a jpg but it needs to be really large and clear in order to get a good straight line. Vector images are the best because they can be resized. Jpgs are pixilated and will get distorted if you need to make the image larger. To make the image transparent you need to duplicate the layer in photoshop (so you are not using a background image). Go to 1:45 in this video and basically duplicate the procedure but when you have the blank areas all selected go to edit > cut. Now it will be transparent.🙂
