  • I found a wiring harness that enables the factory switches Honda installed on a Pioneer 1000-5, allowing lights, relays or other small things to be controlled by these switches.

    Thanks, Ed. You did a great job explaining this item. I hope it helps people understand how these factory switches work.

    I also contacted the dealership and they have not been able to shed any light on it either. I am going to assume even though it is a 2022 they still have pre-wred the switches?

      All of the 2022s have the pre-wire ports. If you have the switches there, the pre-wiring should be attached to the back of them, and tucked under hood. You may want to look under there with a flashlight and see if they missed the wiring to the back of the switches.

    @HondaSxS, Do you know how Honda has the Aux fuse panel fused for the three switch plug in on the panel? I saw that you reviewed on on the forum. You can always DM me on the forum as well, as I am WiscoTango there. Still trying to sort out if I go DIY or try to utilize the factory setup to simplify the use of OEM accessories when they make sense.

      Honda doesn't wire them at all, thats why the harness makes it easy to provide power and everything for your switches. Factory just provides the switches with a dumb tail cap.

      The positive feed still needs a fuse right? Are you able to use an inline fuse or do you need a fuse block/panel? Thx

    Hi Ed, what did you use for a fuse in your fuse panel where you connected the harness for the three switches as they share a common power source? @HondaSxS mentioned on the forum that the switches are each 3A rated. I am contemplating buying the Honda fuse panel to use with a dual battery setup and I plan to add the Honda wiper which conveniently has its own plug in to my machine. I'm just not sure how Honda has that harness fused on the panel for the three "dead" factory switches. Thanks!

      The power is split between the 3 switches in the harness, but feed from a single line, so I ran that to a 5A fuse on my block. Considering I am only using my switches for a Dome Light (soon to be converted to LED), and Voltage Gauge for now, its perfect. The 3rd one might be Rock Lights, but I have not installed those yet. That same fuse also services a relay for my side mirrors as well.

      What fuse block you used? I mainly need to power some whip lights and wanted something small for maybe two led accessories. Don’t need nothing fancy, thx in advance. I recently acquired the 2023 Pioneer 1000-6. Thx

      @@sergionavarro1707 A lot of great options can be found on Amazon (search with: "fuse block 12v". I suggest a block with the common negative bus, as it makes everything really easy to work with. Personally, I like how small this one is, but would rather have one that has all of the positive outputs on one side.

      @@EdwardCzajka thank you!! I wonder why Honda did all this wiring leading to no voltage lol

      @@sergionavarro1707 The idea was to clip the loop, and splice it. Its still sloppy at best, which is why I really like the harness HondaSxS makes

    I have a Honda Deluxe 1000 I have reviewed your video several times...I thought I found the pre-wired harness you showed in the blue wrap. I am not able to locate them. I have a service manual and it says nothing about the wires??? Any suggestions? I will call the dealer ship Monday.

    So adding an led light bar or floods is out of the question as these switches are limited to 36watts; that's kind of useless

    • @EdwardCzajka
      @EdwardCzajka  Місяць тому

      Yes, but you can easily drive a relay, which controls your higher current devices. I use my factory switches for Dome/Bed Lights, Marker Beacon Light on Roof, and the USB charger for Navigation Pad.
