hi Thank You for this video - I duplicated my iTunes crates in serato - so I don't rely on serato reading my iTunes library - can I convert them to smart crates ? my iTunes playlists were smart playlists in iTunes but now I created them in serato and turned off show iTunes library ! I hope I explained it correctly
where do you get your music?
Can you have same songs in numerous smart crates. If so, is it creating a new copy of the file or an alias? Same quest for regular crates or is that overkill since smart crates are an option.

Great video, can you also make a crate for an individual crate instead of my entire library? I got music from different genres and it would be nice if that is possible. As of now when I hit smart crate it actually creating that from my whole library.

Yes I am still using Rekord Buddy 2, but now I use it just to sync cue point, loop, and beat grid information.
Is there a way to have 2 keywords in the same window? Example: SONG: CONTAINS: Intro Extended
Great video! So, when adding more than one rule, it appears the create logic uses each rule with an "and" between them. What if I want to have a Smart Create to include more than one music genre? Example: Pop and Dance. I tired a couple different ways, but no success. Thanks again!
You are correct, there isn't a really direct way to make this kind of smart crate. So after doing some testing I've found a work around to make this work! What you are going to do is make a regular crate then make a smart crate for each of the genres. Now select both of the smart crates and drag them onto the regular crate, making them subcrates. Now all the songs from BOTH smart playlists can be seen when selected the regular crate!
This sounds a bit confusing, I think I'll make a quick video about this soon!

Did you have to edit each song before throwing into Serato Crates? (example: artist, bpm, song, comment etc).
Depends on what rules you're specifying & how your songs are tagged. For example if you're going to make a Smart Crate for all Clean and other for all dirty music then you would make a rule where "File name consists of Clean", if you're going to be doing Bpm & Key Crates then after analyzing the files add a smart Crate "Bpm is greater than or equal to 70 - 80 Bpm" or Contains, or is less than etc.
If you're going to do comment's then yeah more than likely you'll have to edit those tags
Well done all.Please can i create smart create from songs on crate and not songs from the whole library because what i see when smart crates are created it gets from the whole library which is too much considering that the library has mixed genre of songs but i have genres in crates and i want create smart from those crate using for example i want to create smart crates of songs with bpm 80-100 from a reggae genre only

You may have to create a crate reggae and set bpm range my guess

I got an M1 Mac. I added my music to the music folder. Why isn’t Serato seeing my crates (from crappy pc). Maybe music is the wrong folder???? Help!!
Say Bro, I noticed a few songs in your crates turned to a orange/gold color, I've been been experiencing that same thing.....why won't the song play anymore after it turns that color?🤔

Go to all music at the top of your crate list,then delete them from there

why when we create the crates. the music of the crates appears in the main crates where the other crates are located

Smart crates i heard it was called sub crates anyway i setup my crates by genres but im about to make riddim sub crates for my reggae crate other than that i prob wont use sub crates
Sub crates and smart crates are two separate things. Sub crates allow you to organize your tracks into sub categories. Smart crates will automatically fill your crates based upon rules that you set up.
Ah yes ok then mine r sub crates i didnt setup any smart crates using the rules u showed us serato has in the vid

What i REALLY wish they would fix, is that smart crates dont save into the smart crates folder on the external drive, they are internal only, WHY?????
this means you spend hours setting it all up, leave the house with your DJ drive, plug it in and..... YOU HAVE NO SMART CRATES!! as theyre all saved locally at home.... STUPID setup.. please fix this Serato!!? Why the hell arent they saved with the rest of my crates and the database??
