    Hi sumo im painting stucko on the outside of my house 🇮🇪ive painted the outside kitchen part with a brush and roller had to keep going back with a little brush to fill in the little gaps the big Brush @roller couldn't get into bit got the kitchen outside done now ive to do the upper part of house 🏡 should i buy a paint sprayer and any tips i would really appreciate, trying to do good job for my mother, save her the 1000 pound shebwz quoted, ive other paintjobs to do for her, any advice appreciated, God bless

      I think a sprayer would save you a lot of time but I don’t know what a stucko is, as a rule of thumb I normally paint everything indoors with paint brush ( cut in ) & then good quality roller, a spray gun inside can be messy but for outside work where you can cover windows up I would definitely try a spray gun & don’t do it on a windy day.
      Most spraining I do is normally smaller parts or outdoor furniture but remember to put tarps & cardboard up & around. Hope that helps a little 👍👍👍

    Nice review. I have been using these for a couple of years now, have 3, one for oil based, one for water based, and a spare. The beauty of these are that they have a brass pin and nozzle, not plastic, but if you have been spraying for 2-3 mins, check the nozzle, it will need a wipe off, and probably every 15 mins clean the airways. Bunnings sells a small mixer that fits into the bowl, has 3 red blades, use with a drill, and I thin water based paints with warm water and stir in the paint bowl, then screw back on. There are no real adjustments, only how far you can pull the needle which controls how quick the paint comes out. Practice on scrap, or cardboard until you are happy with result, which may include further thinning... When you are finished, you can dismantle the spraying section and remove the needle and clean it completely, clean the airways in spray head, and the nozzle, it will spray like a new machine next time you use it.

      Paint and decking oils in general are getting way over priced these days.
      I remember buying decking oil for around 25 bucks for a 4ltr tin,
      now days its a minimum of 50 bucks, if you're lucky! 😨

    That gun looks quite compact, I bought a similar type of gun from Aldi a couple of years ago nowhere near as compact but the same idea, found it fantastic for spraying shellac but I struggled with paint. I have been exploring using a sprayer again recently when a friend gave me an old gun of his and have been getting better results, I think it has to do with the quality of paint and the thinning down to the right consistency more than the gun itself. It's a great review and shows you do not need to spend a fortune to start spraying and get good results. 👍👍👍

    • @sumosprojects
      @sumosprojects  5 років тому +1

      G’day Graham, I was spending quite a bit of money at Bunnings on Spray paint cans & thought why not try a proper set up, yes it cocos initially to purchase the paint but the mileage is so much better & the thing is to practice like we do on most things we try out. This gun was recommended by the staff at Bunnings & the price is really fair for achieving a result of finishing so much faster although smaller projects the pressure pack cans will suffice.
      Just go on the formula of 10 percent mix down on thicker paint or finish & you’ll be yodelling the hills are alive lol, let me know how it goes down the track mate 🍻👍👍👍👍🇦🇺

    That's a bargain price. The Wagner I reviewed was nearly 3x the cost and I'm sure while it may have a bit better life and a few extra features it won't do 3x as good a job. They do tend to chew through thin oils if you are not careful, but as you said, compared to spray cans which cost a fortune still a good tool to have. I've found if you are careful there is not too much more clean up than brushes, but the prep can take a lot longer. I liked the outside use, much easier that way!

      Took me a while to understand that the pressure pack paints become costly so after some staff consultation with the local Bunnings crew a fella told me they are pretty good & to be honest the Ozito tools aren’t that terrible mate so that’s something, I’d love a Wagner however not gonna pay that much to apply something to wood as I’m a hobbyist lol, cheers James 🎥🎥🔨🔨👍👍

      @@sumosprojects Well in a few months when it starts warming up again, I might have a crack at the redoing the side fence the missus has been asking about for years. Plus I need to re-oil an existing bench this year, plus hoping to make a couple of other seats for around the pool area. Funnily my local Bunning's bloke tried to talk me out of getting one of these, said it wasn't that great.

    Hi Sumo. First up, "Go Melbourne Storms", kicked the tigers behind -- 5 tries in 15 minutes.
    Nice video! I got my Ozito spray paint in Bunnings as well 2 years ago when I asked my dad to paint my fence. After a few tries, he gave up and used a brush instead (while I was away working in an office). He said it is not even and splatters a lot. 2 year on, I tried to use it to spray a part of our wooden gate, I can see why he gave up. My problem in my paint spray is it has "chunks" of paint (not the fine mist that you have). I diluted the paint more, 75ml water to 500ml paint. But it still has chunks. I grab a skewer stick and place some stick tape at the end (to serve as propellers) and used it for mixing the paint with my drill. But it only did a little help. Can you give me tips to have it spray finer. Do I need to clean it thoroughly? Do I need to screen the paint to eliminate lumps? HELP.

    This one is suitable for thin paint, but not enough powerful for thick paint. If you want to use acrylic paint for wall, it may become a nightmare even if you mix with water as thinner.

  • @Mububban23
    @Mububban23 4 роки тому +2

    I must have done something wrong, I tried thinning down some water based exterior paint in this unit but still found it quite thick and it "spat" the paint out onto the wall rather than spraying it in a nice fashion, so I found it very slow to use. Pretty sure I was way more than 10% dilution too. Still, it saved me getting RSI from using a brush to get into all those deep mortar lines.
    My tip is to use hearing protection. The fan is quite noisy if you're doing a big job that'll take a while.

    • @sumosprojects
      @sumosprojects  4 роки тому +1

    I had a NIGHTMARE with this gun using enamel paint...the 10% dilution with paint thinner did not empty the cup within 30 seconds, so i had to add more. This caused the paint to crack on the garage door. Honestly...for small jobs such as tables and chairs use paint cans, any time you lose with cans you make up due to the prep and cleanup time.

Its got a very narrow spray so has left alot of patches on the doors and also there is plenty of extra overspray. I was painting leaving the doors with the hinges on though. Did you face any such issues? Or maybe its not ideal for the doors?

The gravity feed design has a more efficient paint consumption rate and reduces occurrences of paint splutter when the paint runs low, giving a great finish. Terrible for staining a fence lol have this model OMG the over spray is shocking so goes through the stain fast! Just brought a Certa airless paint sprayer from Dick Smiths that can use directly from the 10 liter can and replaced the tip with a Wagner HEA tip for a claimed 55% less over spray. So no more messy refills! I know I am being stupid to compare this to a gun airless paint sprayer, but this is strictly useful for very small jobs as the over spray and small pot size is a pain.

    • @sumosprojects
      @sumosprojects  4 роки тому

      Fair call Greg, I notice the overspray mate & all things being equal this was a cheap pickup that was recommended for that reason so we need to work within the parameters of cost effective- performance mate.
      I have issues with the pressure pack wood finishes that at $10 a can clog up if you don’t respect them lol, but a bit of playing about & control this sprayer isn’t to bad, Wagner cost way over $100 & not in my budget, appreciate your feedback 🍻🍻🇦🇺👍👍👍

    It`s a really nice video! Tomorrow I`m going to start painting our new doors and trim with exactly this sprayer. Just one question- on your video you didn`t filter the paint. Is this acceptable for water based paints, please? I have purchased British Paint (water based) at Bunnings and still can`t realize about filtering. Should or shouldn`t ... And if we have to filter it- when it must be performed- after or before it`s mixed with water. Thank you

    • @sumosprojects
      @sumosprojects  4 роки тому +1

      G’day mate & thank you for the comment Alexander, well I’ve not filtered the water based paint but rather so added the water first & stirred the paint before adding it to the required ratio.
      I’ve not had an issue doing it this way & you’ll need to trial & error getting the nozzle setting & distance from what you’re spraying right but this doesn’t take to long & you’ll have the control correct.
      Let me know how you get on & have fun doing it 🍻🍻👍👍🇦🇺

    It’s actually a bit of a let down, I tried everything. I have tried watering the paint down bit by bit. It spatters they paint out. I have stirred the paint. I think you get a much better finish using a brush. The best way is to use this and then go over the piece with a brush. I used Walpamur fence paint onto a timber fence.
