Facing Nolan captures the life of Baseball Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, arguably one of the greatest pitchers of all time. His 51 records and 27 seasons across four decades are the stuff of lore. It wasn't always so. Even as the Ryan Express was chalking up strikeouts and no-hitters like no one before him, or since, Nolan Ryan was surprisingly undervalued. Oddly enough, he may still be. What better way to understand Ryan's fierce competitive spirit and otherworldly talent than actually asking the Hall of Famers who had to face his 100-mph fastball, or 12-6 curveball on a regular basis.
In acclaimed filmmaker Bradley Jackson's documentary about this living Texas legend, Nolan Ryan is revealed by those who know him best - his family, teammates, and even former US presidents.
“I can’t think of an athlete that is more associated with a state than Nolan Ryan is for Texas.” - Nolan Ryan

Thank you for making this tribute. It was great for me to walk down memory lane again.
In the Kingdome, we watched the Mariners play the Chicago White Sox on June 11, 1990. However, when Nolan reached the eighth and again the ninth inning against the Oakland Athletes, our game came to a halt. We all watched Nolan on his mound pitch for his amazing sixth no-hitter. Really, the umpires, both teams, and the fans paid that amount of respect to Nolan's record-breaking accomplishment.

My dad got to see him pitch once at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium. He said you could tell Nolan‘s pitches were faster than the other pitchers from way up in the stands.

I'm into motorsports and there's a few athletes I associate with Texas as much as I do Nolan. "Super Tex" A.J. Foyt, "Lone Star JR" Johnny Rutherford, Terry Labonte, Kevin Schwantz, Colin Edwards, Doug Polen, and Bubba Shobert to name a few.
Looking forward to seeing the movie!

Drivers are not athletes, they're drivers. Athletes don't have beer guts, unless of course they're offensive lineman.

I got to see Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson. Lew Burdett (not sure on the spelling) Warren Spahn, and a few others I don’t remember at this time. Some hitters I saw were Aaron, Mays, Mantle, Ted Kasluski(Cincinnati reds), Roberto Clemente and others.

There was another baseball pitcher, Jr richard who was on his way to head to the hall of fame and be better than nolan ryan. Unfortunately, he suffered a stroke that ended his baseball career.

This Department of Education victim is so clueless he's not even aware of the modern technology that showed Ryan's fastball was as high as 108 mph, not 100, when he was with the Angels. He has no inside knowledge of the man and relies only on existing text. He should be embarrassed.

Nolan Ryan was definitely a HOF pitcher but he is not in the top 10 or maybe even top 20 pitchers of all time.

Ryan’s fastball went from 100 mph measured by a motor cycle racing by, then it was 108 mph guestimation , and now some speculate that within the next century , new technology will conclude that Ryan’s fastball was actually 125 mph. In fact , by 2050, his legendary fastball will be reconfigured to have been thrown at 150-160 mph. Possibly even 200 mph . Come on people 🤦🏼‍♂️ whatever . Yea sure 98-100 mph 👍🏻 possibly. I’d give him even 101 mph at times . But 108 whatever . The legend will never stop being embellished more and more . Just like babe Ruth lol that guy prob couldn’t even play modern day AA-AAA . He had a soft ball swing hitting beach balls

That was Bob Feller who was measured by a motorcycle not Ryan. Ryan was clocked with an early radar gun. His last fastball at 46 years old was clocked at 98 and the tech was spot on by then and that was after throwing 5,300 innings. 108 is plausible considering he was 20 years younger and at his peak physical performance.
