Parts Dr provided the very best "how to" video I've seen. Each step shown, close-ups when beneficial, helpful tip on what to do and avoid. Just excellent. Now I see how the guy I hired to do the last two got done so fast. He did not replace the shaft the bearing uses. No wonder it had deep etching on the surface.
I had replaced the bearing twice before but never took the dryer apart and it was a pain. I am glad you have posted this video because this is so much easier. This has been very helpful and I appreciate the time you took making it! Thank You. I did order a new belt once I got the dryer apart. I also replaced the heating element (last year). I was amazed at the way it looked and was shocked that a fire had not started. If you have not done a video on this it would be helpful to people. Maybe even save lives or property due to fire.
This the second time our dryer bearing died, almost 10 years per bearing. This time I had a loud clunking when the drum was turning after I replaced the bearing. Finally figured out that the circuit board where the small two leads connected just under the top lid was not making a good connection. The mechanism just below the lid lock has a servo mounted on the left side down about 4". It holds the drum opener bar away front the drum while it is turning. Every revolution of the drum two loud clunks. Took me several hours to find the issue. Pulled the connector off the edge of the circuit board, cleaned the contact surfaces and everything worked perfectly after that. If you have two loud clunks with every revolution of the drum that is probably the problem
@@PartsDr thank you. I'm an extremely DIY handy guy and I estimated this being about 8 hours following the video and dealing with tiny little screws and brackets but with your instructions I was in about the time of the video! Lol I buy parts from you all the time and always will.
This was extremely helpful - my only issue was that after we re-started our dryer, it now makes a repeated swishing sound as the inside turns. We think maybe the drum is off-balance somehow or the that the belt is. Any ideas??
I realize this video is 2 years old and you may not be monitoring it. Hopefully, you can answer my question. How different would this disassembly be for model DE08-us1, which is the side loading model, not the top loading model in your demonstration? Are there pointers you can give me? Squeaking started last week and I believe it is a bearing of some sort. I bought the dryer in 2004 and hadn't had any problems with it till now. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

My Fisher & Paykel DEIX2 dryer has been squeaking and squealing bad. I replaced the bearing and shaft. The dryer was quite at first when it ran for the first time with the new parts, but the next day began squealing again. It still seems to be coming from the bearing area. Any suggestions? Could it be a pulley or belt that is also near the bearing and shaft?
Ok I can change this bearing kit in 20 minutes or less heres how (1) take lid off (2) move dryer away from wall lay it flat on the floor bearing side on floor...(3) remove center plate bearing screw....(4) remove bearing screws the small ones and every piece till just the bearing stud is left,,,(5) now use vice grips to remove bearing stud it's going to be thrown away.anyway so it don't matter if it gets damaged ,,,(6) the bearing bolt is now ready for new bearing shaft stud just start by hand tight ,,,,(7) now tighten the shaft by using the Allen wrench and plate bolt that was the first thing you took off as you tighten the plate bolt into the stainless stud this will let you tighten the bearing stud as tight as you need to,, (8) when as tight as needed you can simply loosen the bolt from stud with the Allen wrench without loosening stud ,,,(9) now install the bearing ball then retaining ring that has the five screws final plate and plate screw , lift the dryer up right ,put lid back on.and try it I have installed 50 or more of these kits and this is simple and works for me everytime ,,, I only use OEM parts ,,,good luck
I've replace the bearing twice without having to take the dryer apart at all. I simply reached into the dryer used to hex to remove the bolt and removed the screws and simply replace the bearing and reuse the parts, it cost $10

Thank you for making this video. Just the right amount of detail without any extra fluff.
You're welcome! Did your dryer start squeaking when your bearing failed?
@@PartsDr Yes, it randomly started squealing this past weekend. After 12 years of use, something was bound to wear out.

Thank you very much for the quality & clarity of this repair video. Much needed, & greatly appreciated! God bless your business & family!

Your instructions are precise. This mom is ready to attempt replacing drum barrings. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice! 10 years per bearing isn't bad!
Thank you very much for the instructions! It worked perfectly, and we didn’t have any issues replacing the bearing.
Great!!! Nice job fixing it yourself!
Well done! Thank you for the easy to follow step by step instructions!
Thanks Jim!
Oh! so that's how you rotate the drum and take off the inside panel to get to the bearing! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Very well explained and done. A true preofessional. Thank you
Thank you! We are glad you found it helpful!
Very helpful. If I had known how far I'd be taking this apart ahead of time (I didn't) I probably would have replaced the belt at the same time!
We agree that replacing the belt at the same time is a good idea.
Spot on followed step by and and up and running

Sorry, we do not know what would be causing that. You may need to take it apart again and carefully look everything over.

It would be different than the process shown in this video. We are sorry, but we have not worked with that model yet.
@@PartsDr Understandable, it close to 20 years old, guess I'll have to figure it out myself.

It's always the pulley that squeals first before the bearing ever goes out. It's normally just one of the pulley wheels, not both.

I used your method, Manuel, it worked well. I had a socket that fit so I used it instead of the vise grips.
Thanks frank for reply ....I'm replacing another one tomorrow and showing my trainee this method...he is going to be a great repairman
Yeah you absolutely don’t need to disassemble the dryer down to this level to do the bearing kit
Just used this method myself, you saved me like an hour bro, thank you!
@@jacobpiscia835 you are so welcome
Do you need to apply grease to the bearing?
No, you do not need to apply grease to the bearing. The bushing appears to be a graphite impregnated bronze which is self lubricating.
Great, thanks
