Let me tell you, you will love the album after listening to it more. The first two times I was disappointed but then it clicked. Give it time.
Steffen Beier That's my plan! I think this album is gonna need some more time. It's more subdued than Loved are Back To Life was and I was not expecting that.
@@SalRocha That's exactly the problem. You went in with expectations and preconceived notions of what album should sound like based on what Celine has done in the past instead of just listening to the album for what it is, which can warp your proception of the album itself.
It's because we're more SOAKED onto her old songs...

Listen from start to finish about 3 times, then sleep on it and listen again the next day. You will FALL IN LOVE with this album. It's her best English album since the 90's. But my first listen I didn't know what to think. And I think her low notes in this album are gorgeous.

I can't watch this after skipping and finishing at the 12 minute mark because it's so negative. I suggest listening to it at least 3 times straight. The mood and vibe and songs get better and better after each listen.

Watching your vid made me want to listen to the album again :P I feel so bad for the fans that didn't love it from the first listen! It's been a slow burn for some, but I absolutely adored everything from the first time I heard it. It would absolutely SUCK to go this long without any new English material and not like it when it finally comes out. Hopefully it grows on you. My favorite album will always be Falling Into You but ANDHC is very close. This new album might just be tied with that. I don't know if I can ever forgive Rain, Tax honestly haha. Rene died almost 5 years ago so this album isn't supposed to be a widow in mourning, I think it's an evolution from that, where she is now. It pays respect but also recognizes that life goes on and that you can be happy after losing someone. I enjoyed your reactions, I do the same jaw drop when I listen to her.

It was interesting to see you react to the album. My first impression was quite different.
First of all, I must say that I have always appreciated her French language records more because I think she sounds more honest and natural in her native French, although I know that her English language work brought her that enormous success that made her a living legend throughout the world. So this time I didn't have high expectations because I knew it was going to be an English language record - and I think that's why our first impressions are so different. I actually liked the album much more that I thought I would. What's more, I didn't feel that "filler effect" that I mostly do. I'll go further: for me, this is her best English language album since her 2002 A New Day Has Come. I liked the songwriting (I know it's not her) and I had the impression throughout the whole record that she means what she's singing (that's something that's rare about her English language songs in my opinion).
And finally, For The Lover That I Lost.... on my goodness, that song touches me so much. I can't believe you didn't like it as much. I felt that those "strange" vocals convey the emotion perfectly.
I hope that after a few more listens the album has grown more on you.

Wow, your reaction is my fav throughout the whole youtube! Because you are a fan, I mean, like me, a true fan, not like other UA-camrs doing this by request as a routine or something. and your actions and all those comments are exactly the same as mine. that's amazing. I totally agree with you on almost everything of Celine and this album, but the fashion choices(I do believe She is a true fashion icon now). there are two things I would like to share with you, first, this album is a grower, the first time I listened to this, I am more harsh and disappointed than you, the production, the pronunciation, the song choices, etc.after the first listen, I even put the album away, which I never did for the last 2 decades. but later when I was on a trip, I listened to this again, I love lots of them already. and the second, about the personal song you were expecting, I felt the same way, but after all these years since she took the charge, I think that phase had been over, with the song "recovering", now, the album "courage" is a new sign that Celine tells the world that she has a new life to continue.

The first time that I listened to this album... I was so chocked, the songs were not what I was expecting from her. I thought the album was too long, with really heavy songs, her voice was different, I didn’t like it at all. After a couple of days, I started to shuffle all Celine’s songs (including the songs from the album courage) and I was like “wait... which album is this song from? I kinda like it...”, and that started to repeat with the other songs from this album.
After a few weeks I was like “wait, let me hear the album again”.... today I think courage is one of my favorites Celine’s album. I Deeply love each song from it!!!!!

She sings in a kind of "Cheresque" mode in this album, which I don't exactly appreciate. There are several very good songs mixed with some real fillers too, so I still don't get the order of the tracklist in this album.
Other than that, I do appreciate she has given to the fans 21 songs with this project. Bring on more long albums like this! This way, there's always a good chance for fans to find something for everyone.
And yes, A New Day Has Come IS a masterpiece. Favourite of mine too :)

Good reaction. Thanks. I'm a Celine Dion fan, but I honestly expected more from this album. But still, the album is good. My favorite tracks are Lying Down, Courage, Imperfections, Heart of glass, Baby, Perfect goodbye, For the lover that I lost, Look at as now and japanese bonus track "Soul". I agree that bonus tracks should be in the standard edition. Didn't like the tracks: Say yes, Change my mind, I will be stronger.

I noticed that you liked all the songs written by Sia - Lying Down, Baby, Heart of Glass and the older and the iconic Loved Me Back To Life. Maybe you should listen to more Sia. :))) Try digging in her discography, she has 9 studio albums (including LSD project with Labrinth and Diplo) :) Amazing singer and songwriter! (Btw, you can hear Sia's voice in backing vocals in Lying Down, Heart of Glass and I guess in Baby too)

I'm suprised you didn't like Change My Mind. I'm glad you love Perfect Goodbye and Boundaries! The songwriter of I Will Be Stronger and Best of All was written by Eg White who also produced Water And The Flame cover and I Didn't Know Love. So I think that's the reason why you may get some similar vibe as in LMBTL! (and I love those songs too!)

It’s ok I respect your opinion not everyone is gonna love ❤️ the album but you see I’m from Montreal and I’m 54 so I grew up with Celine I know absolutely everything about and all the peoples from the province of Quebec and let me say that usually the comments are very divisive between the younger generation and the old generation and I would categorized you on the older generation in the way you juged Celine like me before I realized that we always want Celine to sings balades and big epic songs but when she goes a bit out of the ball park we are not used to that and we generally hate those songs and I think that’s what is happening to you right now as for I love it because she has renewed herself with the choice of her songs which is really 2019 and not Big balads have a good day 🥰✌️🇲🇶

LoL... This is a horrible review!! The songs on this album are incredible!! It's not just about the music it's also very much about the Lyrics and structure of the songs and the Lyrics in this album are phenomenal!! Soul the hard Way say yes boundaries falling in love again best of all heart of glass and Nobody's Watching are my favorites!! Give it a chance!!!

its so funny your noticing all the things that irritate me about this album too and im like i cant be the only one. "THELOWSNDIIII'S" on fo the lover that i lost. She's way too throaty, her weird sia style impersonations - they dont work. Its only when you get to the end of the album she starts sounding like herself again. And yes - all the bonus songs are better than most of the standard tracks. Crazy. I feel like the songs do grow on you, it was her voice i struggled to get used to. Conceptually i expected it to be more cohesive for once. As this was a real opportunity for that but...with flying on my own included never mind being the 1st track i guess that ship sailed haha. Its so out of place. The hard way is for me the best she sounds on there and boundaries.
What I wanted to say was that they sound edited. They don't sound like her organic live low notes.
