Bro I was 4 miles from the farm park after the show and something when wild with my carb and it stuck wide open throttle. After over revving, attempting to turn off the key, even tried to slam it in park to stop the 60mph roller coaster ride. I finally smoked the brakes and came to a stop. It was rowdy but we survived. Glad yall made it home!
My 74 Nova got stuck like that once! Luckily I was only going 25 mph. It was the return spring. I miss that car. 😢 It had a few electrical problems and I couldn't afford to take it to a shop. And my dad would Not work on it cause it was not a Ford...... 😮😅
My wife freaked out when our vehicle broke down so bravo to your wife. Panic only adds to the stress. Subscribed! I got to see what happens to the truck.
If you ever drive through Augusta GA Josh, and need help feel free to reach out. Plenty of tools and truck parts or access to them if you’re in need of help!
just a tip on those old chevy hoods to close them without them bending at the hinge it it helps if you walk it back towards the cab rather than to just pull it down. if the motor is toast put the 6.0l ls in it
My dad bought a 1988 GMC crew cab Diesel. It was a 1 ton but Not a dulley. He was disabled, so I drove it. He joked with me saying he was going to make it a dulley! Cause I told him I would be afraid to drive a dulley, i might sideswipe a lot of things. LoL. That truck was a 3 speed on the floor, 1 st gear was Granny. I loved burning rubber in that gear! LoL 😂 i miss that truck.... My dad sold it when he was almost 80. i miss him too... 😢 He passed in 2014. He was a Great mechanic. ❤
Hot rodding 101....... Great trip and video, Josh. Glad you guys made it home safely. Best of luck on getting the dually back !! Hope to see y'all at the Tailgate Tour.
Sorry you had problems. I always say if you drive old trucks they’re gonna break. It’s not if but when. Hope y’all made it home safe. It was a pleasure meeting both of you at the C10 Fall Revival #5. Salt of the Earth people!! Matt and Danielle to the rescue!!!😎👍
I drove a Dodge Spirit for a year and a half with rod knock before it blew. Then I put a 2.2 out of Omni in it and drove for another 2 years. Good luck with the truck
Back when I got out of high school, I worked for this guy at a Sunoco gas station he had an old F1 unibody pick up when it started making noise like yours he would just pull it in an do a oil change and fill it up with 90 weight gear lube. Outside of that, it was a cool old truck . Good luck with getting yours home. And you have the most understanding wife in the world. She's a keeper.✌️
Man I really thought about changing the oil to a heavy weight. I didn't think about doing gear oil. I'll have to give that a try next time... Well hopefully there isn't a next time
Usually only corporate locations rent for one way, local don’t want cars to leave, then they have a problem getting another car back 👍🏻👊🏼 we once had to rent a box truck in Atlanta because airport shutdown and all cars were gone 😮😮😮 we got a ride to Marietta, picked up box truck and drove it to Virginia 😂😂😂😂 hey do whatever you have to to get home 😂😂😂😂👊🏼👍🏻🙌🏼🔧🔧🔧🔧
Man when that 454 was knockin like a Jehovah’s Witness my anxiety was through the roof and I’m just sitting at home!! I say take the 454 outta the obs dually put it in the square body dually then ls swap the obs dually.
I'm really curious to see how it looks. I'll probably to a tear down video also to see what kinda damage was done to the block and if it's salvageable.
Bearing is spun, it just will keep eating itself until it seizes. Sorry brother, on the next build I would recommend a high output oil pump. Engine is done😮 Not sure, think you can find a reman block at local parts stores.
Hey Josh, why don’t you just rent a U-Haul trailer or some type of trailer pull up there with your OBS and then tow it home or drive up there and rent a trailer up there to tow it home then you can work on in your new shop
That's a great question. This truck is too heavy and big to put on a U-Haul trailer or dolly. I do have a trailer at home but it's not rated to tow this truck and is in pretty bad shape from the last trip. The owner of the shop where the truck is at offered to let me use his cherry picker so I think the plan is to drive up with another motor, do a swap at his place then drive it the 400 miles home.
That makes sense. I thought your trailer may be set up for it. If you didn’t go the route of putting a motor in it up there you could always check in with some LTL carriers that have a step deck or flatbed that could haul it down for you.

Dude I had the same issue when I blew an engine in Alabama. Multiple places took the money and then had zero cars. I ended up renting a u-haul box truck and running that lol
might have run that thing just a bit too hard. a 454 with a TH400 and probably a 4.10 rear must have had that thing screaming at 65-75 mph. I love the old trucks but with those 3 speed transmissions and 4.10 gears they were not made for highway speed.
Agreed but I had to try. lol. The plan with this truck is to do a diesel swap and I wanted to get one road trip with the stock drivetrain. Might have been a little too much for the 'ol big block.
Hey there Josh my dad has a 350 laying around its possible he might sell it I know it's not a big block just wanted to throw that out there if interested please let me know
@yeahbuddygarage no problem I also was down at the farm park Saturday morning looking for you but didn't see you and watched your 1st video that evening just to find out you wasn't going to be there till 12 I was done gone by then
Here's the Car Rental Hack.... rent one for round trip, then tell them that you had a family emergency and just return it at your final destination... it's not like they wont take the car back...
Ok, I get there are Chevy guys and Ford guys, but to insult a Ford in a video where you were driving normal and still toasted your Chevy motor..... Maybe not the best time for Ford jokes LOL.
Seriously it's very disappointing, frustrating, annoying, and aggravating to see that a woman is just all jolly and games while it's fun and theblime light is on but with in a drop of a dime become Dramatic, Sassy, USELESS, Self Entitled, and Demanding when what you need is her HELP, Support, and ENCOURAGEMENT! For what I saw in this video if you women are going to be like this one, Just stay the HELL home cause this guy did it all by himself with just this woman being extra weight, pressure, and cost! Standing there like a Self Entitled NARCISSISTIC FEMINIST instead of getting her hands into Everything like navigating when they were looking for that man's place to leave the truck at instead of getting on the godamn phone and hand gesturing for him to shut up, get your highness hands into loading their things into the blazer, then saying they will spend the night cause she needs rest and demanding they get up early cause she wants to be home by so so time Lmfknao Hahaha seriously? GTFOH with that STUPIDITY! Then again to load the things into the rental again standing there USELESS and Entitled! Then I thought it was too good to be true she started the drive on the rental and in a blind of an eye this guy is driving again! I bet she didn't even drive much and GUARANTEED she complained about something for not driving more. Ridiculous! Next time keep your INSECURE self at home cause all in all the MAN did it all by himself in the long run! Seriously if your not going to HELP and only be there while the going is good and just be there cause your insecurities, Please I implore you DO NOT GO!
Wow!! 😂😂 I can’t believe that’s what you got out of this video. You’re either going through something at the moment or somebody really hurt your feelings in your lifetime and you haven’t gotten over it. You should have a little respect and keep ignorant comments to yourself.
I cannot take this comment seriously. We have done enough road trips together to know what each other needs. When we have mechanical problems she knows to let me work on it and if we need info like car rental places, part stores, hotels, etc... she'll jump on it. Other than that she'll happily read a book and wait for what's next.
You have a great partner, Lauren is a good sport. Glad you made it home safely.
Here’s to you, Josh! Always keeping it real on the road. And to Lauren - she’s a trooper. 🎉🎉🎉

You guys rule: You breakdown, but keep similing and having fun: respect! :D. Good luck for the swap/rebuild
Lauren is the best!!!
She is so Lucky to have a husband that knows so much about cars and trucks.
If you ever drive through Augusta GA Josh, and need help feel free to reach out. Plenty of tools and truck parts or access to them if you’re in need of help!
Good friends with big hearts.
The comeback will be worth it all bro! Glad you guys are safe
If you want help fixing it let me know if I’m free I’ll come help

Great video, Josh. Your wife is a trooper. She just goes with the flow. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

You had a trip like our 2024 power tour trip… You need one of those every once in a while to keep you in check🤣🤣
Hot rodding 101....... Great trip and video, Josh. Glad you guys made it home safely. Best of luck on getting the dually back !! Hope to see y'all at the Tailgate Tour.
I'll be there!
Man that enterprise is right down from my house. I live in florence. Good luck with the dually rescue!
Glad you guys made it home. Missed you at the revival, hope you're there next year
There is a big Petro truck stop in Florence i stop at all the time... beautiful scenery all around there
I drove a Dodge Spirit for a year and a half with rod knock before it blew. Then I put a 2.2 out of Omni in it and drove for another 2 years. Good luck with the truck
My father in law is in Geneva, not far from you. Old school Chevy guy. He has tons of big block stuff sitting around. Happy to connect y’all.
Glad it all worked out...... Loved the video...
Glad u always have friend when one of ur show truck's breakdown (Yeah Buddy Garage?
75 MPH on Skid-Steer tires...Yee-haw yeah buddy!!

Great co- pilot!!🙂
So many breakdowns, so much content. 👍
Man, I hope that was the last one for a while
Dude, I’m in S 35:39 Statesville right up the road from Mooresville if you need help when you come back just holler at me
Usually only corporate locations rent for one way, local don’t want cars to leave, then they have a problem getting another car back 👍🏻👊🏼 we once had to rent a box truck in Atlanta because airport shutdown and all cars were gone 😮😮😮 we got a ride to Marietta, picked up box truck and drove it to Virginia 😂😂😂😂 hey do whatever you have to to get home 😂😂😂😂👊🏼👍🏻🙌🏼🔧🔧🔧🔧
Yeah buddy!! That's what the challenge is all about.
Wish all the luck to you ! Way to keep your chin up tho. I woulda had a total melt down 1/2 way through it. lol.
Man when that 454 was knockin like a Jehovah’s Witness my anxiety was through the roof and I’m just sitting at home!!
I say take the 454 outta the obs dually put it in the square body dually then ls swap the obs dually.
I vote for 8.1 Vortec over an LS. It’s really just a plus size LS anyway
I’m only couple hours away and more than willing to help revive the big truck!
oh yikes.... you gotta do a carnage video when you get in to that pan. Glad you guys found a way home.
I'm really curious to see how it looks. I'll probably to a tear down video also to see what kinda damage was done to the block and if it's salvageable.
Good time for a carb 496 build
I hear big blocks are pretty hard to come by right now so that very well may be the next step with this motor!
I95 in sc i think exit 5... across the road from Loves truck stop is a little store Reds... best food
Bearing is spun, it just will keep eating itself until it seizes. Sorry brother, on the next build I would recommend a high output oil pump. Engine is done😮 Not sure, think you can find a reman block at local parts stores.
Hate to see that happen man. If I had something to load it up and take it back home for u I would. But if u need anything let me know.
Never seen vapor come off a dip stick B4.
Dang you were like an exit away from my house, so sorry this happened
Dude that's crazy! For some reason i thought you were further west.
@@yeahbuddygarage no worries brother
Someone donate a running big block to this guy! Be great content to see a motor swap/drive home series.
По ходу надо ставить 3 UZ от тойоты
I hate giving a 👍🏻 thumbs up on such a screwed up road trip video lol 😝 But hey, yall made it home with some content for us! lol
Hopefully the next video on this is getting her back home after a motor swap!
You were 5 minutes from Kasey’s house at that Autozone/Walgreens
Oh dude that's crazy! I had no idea. lol
Did the cooling system burp?
Ryder said “there’s the rust bucket” when you guys got in Danny!
She may be rusty but she rides great! 🤣🤣
We are all on the hunt for a used big block for you buddy...
I with you I hate new cars so boring.

You got your rental car from my home town. Small world
Josh if you need help, let me know, I have a 10 ton tandem trailer, we can go and it?
I haven't lost a motor... I have lost transmissions
Now I've done both! Still waiting to blow a rear end though. lol.
Dude I had the same issue when I blew an engine in Alabama. Multiple places took the money and then had zero cars. I ended up renting a u-haul box truck and running that lol
That was going to be the next step!! Lauren might not have been happy about that one though. 😂
@@yeahbuddygarage Yea, my wife wasn't happy about it either lol There is nothing comfy about a uhaul truck
Poor Lauren! Does she ever get discouraged by these old trucks and breakdown’s?
Only when we drive fast on small, curvy mountain roads!
Great fun how to find the weak spots 😂
Hey….a Ford😀😀?? any thing classic is a hit.👍🏻🇺🇸
I vote you buy a ramp truck. I love mine.
Man that would be sweet!
It’s got a rod na na na knock 😂
I sang this in my head the first time I read it! 🤣🤣
Badin Lake NC
That sound hurts to watch
350 swap !!!!!!!!!!
Just keep driving intell it blow
The engine is mad, someone painted everything blue.
I didn't even think about that! 🤣
At least it's not a ford! 😂😂😂

Duuude that would be rad!
You jinxed your self but I know you will get it right
Haha I need to learn to keep my mouth shut when talking about how the truck is doing.
Hate to see that you're my neck of the woods
welp the foreshadowing and predicting gotcha LOL...guess its time for an LS swap..just kidding. Cant wait to see the recovery
Hey there Josh my dad has a 350 laying around its possible he might sell it I know it's not a big block just wanted to throw that out there if interested please let me know
Great to hear. I'll reach out if we need it. I'm thinking about buying a donor big block truck and doing another project with it. lol
@yeahbuddygarage no problem I also was down at the farm park Saturday morning looking for you but didn't see you and watched your 1st video that evening just to find out you wasn't going to be there till 12 I was done gone by then
75 miles an hr with a 3speed transmission running 3000 rpms not bueno for any motor bubba.
You always seem to have a break down all most every trip. I guess you have to expect that with older vehicles.
Your profile tick tok link is wrong, directs to a fake channel
Thanks man!! I’ll check it out.
Do cars… don’t do singing!
🤣🤣

Hey now that's a great idea! I'll have to keep that one in mind for the next time.
I feel your pain. I had to have my 1989 C10 trailered home from the SETN this past July...
Was there and did that trip with ya. What a sucky weekend that turned out to be.
