U had to buy a buckle ?
I like conservative traditional belt buckles that are built sturdy and wont loose the silver or gold plating over time.
Go to a jeweler and have them weld a long stem for the IDITAROD buckle.

Totally with you on the brown belt/black boots thing. But there are exceptions in my opinion. For example, if I'm wearing blue jeans, belt and and boots need to match (and in my opinion brown looks better than black with blue jeans). But say I'm wearing black jeans, and a black shirt, I could make a black belt work with brown boots, especially a darker brown and even better if you have a brown hat.

A good boot or shoe cobbler will put the buckle on a belt that doesn’t have snap’s.

I wear a black belt with brown/tan boots, to be honest I never really thought about it but I think a black belt goes with any boot and I'm comfortable wearing it, I reckon I "pull it off". Although a brown belt and black boots will look a bit weird.

My uncle passed away not long ago and was a genuine cowboy. I was blessed to get a pair of his boots, but I will keep them as a keepsake and not to wear. With that said, I will be looking for similar style of boots and honestly had no idea that boots and buckles went hand in hand. I learned something and can't wait to purchase my own pair of boots and honor my uncle properly. Great video!

If you’ve got style you can wear all black with a chocolate belt or chocolate boots or both. There’s always room to play with color and texture.
They make one that holds a 22 magnum revolver, and I’ve seen one that conceals 2 punch daggers that interlock in such a way that they don’t look like knives on an X-ray

I have lots of belt buckles that I have won over the years from rodeos.
Question, what kind of belt do you guys use with your buckles? Apparently, all i can find is leather belts that stain my jeans. I've been searching for weeks for options like maybe fake leather or some other material. Or maybe a good quality leather belt that doesn't stain. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Go to a boot repair store and get them to remove the stitching, then have them to put snaps on it. Makes it easier to change out belt buckles. Or do it yourself. It's easy and cheap to do.
My belt buckle is a bronze plated wolf howling I love it so much I just need a good belt to go with it.

Look up local tack shops or western stores. Failing that, there's always Amazon or Etsy.
Have your friends name engraved on the trophy buckle that he won.that would be a good way to honor him.
Boots need to match with belts and hats. Your trophy buckle is meant to be engraved and you might want to engrave a tribute to your deceased friend.

It's always been the #1 rule. Your shoes/boots must match the belt. Even a 3 piece suit requires them to match. Brown boots and brown belt. Black boots and black belt. Blue boots and blue belt. Go to Men's Warehouse with a mismatched look and they will make you buy 1 or the other.

Those are colors I don't usually pair but you could probably get away with either brown or black. Black cherry goes with everything

I follow the same philosophy of matching belts to boots but in finding it hard to find a grey western belt, of good quality, with the snaps.
Hey Trent, I would go with a black belt for grey boots first but I would also be curious about trying a brown belt too just to experiment. I feel like you could get away with either. I don't have grey boots but I've thought about it often. Black belt would definitely work with grey boots. No doubt.

I’m sorry to break it to you, but i’ve been to my fair share of rodeos and that is by far not a trophy belt buckle, it’s just a generic store bought buckle. There’s nothing wrong with a store bought buckle but that is definitely not a trophy buckle.

Question...probably a stupid question....
When it comes to sizing for a belt buckle. What does everyone else do? I got the correct size belt with the snaps so I can switch em out, but the holes aren't lining up with the new buckle. I'm assuming that means I need to buy a size smaller but should I just go one size smaller? Two?

Sometimes my buckles will need to be placed in different holes on the same belt. That's because some buckles are longer than others. If you don't have an extra belt hole to spare you might need to get a different belt for that buckle.
Probably a late reply but get one of the tools that can make a hole in the belt so you can punch a hole anywhere you need one to make it fit
maybe use sugru to add to the ididarod belt buckle thingy
Just to let you know, Black harness boots works well with brown belts but looks perfect with black belts, also black suede chukkas looks great with brown belts and blue jeans, but the rule here (the shirt has to be black) to make it work ;)

Love your collection! Unfortunately, the leather belt/buckle combo is not very practical for concealed carry.
No it's not. But what about in the boot or on the ankle? I've done that in AZ with good results
Problem is getting that handgun on target as soon as you can, without struggling to pull your jeans up to reach it, or /and giving yourself away doing it. Galco makes some fine leather holster belts, (at a price), that will support the weight of a "Compact" semi auto these days, but with time, they tend to sag, and take a different shape. This is were "Functionality" rules over "Style"....at least to me. Those buckles can pull away when you pull a handgun, as much as I like them. :)
Dave Valerie I use one of those Galco Urban Carry holsters, & wear whatever the hell I want. Have plenty of big belt buckles, & it works fine.

Definitely gotta coordinate the boots, belt & hat in color, & if you’re wearing caiman or ostrich boots or whatever, make sure the belt is made of the same.

I was at a Western store and wanted a hat to match my boots, the girls (very pretty by the way) looked at me weird, she stated "you don't have to match your boots to your hat" she then called a guy over and asked him " do you match your hat and boots" he's like "nope" she's like "see" you don't have to match them especially being a guy.
The hat doesn't necessarily need to match, I do think the matching leather is to be traditional

What ever happened to the western belts that you could have your name put on them and had leather weaving on the edges? When I was a kid in Texas everyone had them with their name and the huge oval buckles that made it difficult to sit down? I can’t find this old fashioned belt anywhere.
I know what you're talking about! Yeah they're still around but I've seen them as more of a custom thing. Lots of special order boot places also make belts like the ones you're talking about

They used to be really popular when I was growing up. Some had buckles with their name too but usually a classic bull skull, bronco horse or bull buckle. I got boots ,hat, and shirts. I just need a true western belt. I did order a cool bolo tie. It's a cowboy hat and the tassel ends of the leather are cowboy boots.

Texas Saddlery has some really gorgeous belts with clips, my current favorite is walnut roughout with walnut buckstitch.
Otherwise, there’s really no gender to belts as long as it fits!
Leathers should match leathers and hardware should match hardware. All black or all brown and all gold or all silver. It’s a style rule.
