Certainly agree with backwards compatibility. I can play some really old games on my X. I wish they make complete compatibility for a castlevania game I got though.

As someone who has a steam deck, a series x, and a ps5, I find myself playing my series x and my ps5 on my steam deck most often. If xbox comes out with a handheld that I can play gamepass natively AND my steam library on.. I'm sold. If I can also play ps5 on it via remote play... I'll be in heaven.
I have similar to the above but also 2 gaming PC's a vita a steam deck,switch, phone and tablet. I don't use a big screen TV, I use a 1440p decent gaming monitor. 4k just wastes GPU resources for the sake of it. But the ease of use of merging the devices into one ecosystem where I can go from playing a game on one device to another depending on what is convenient to play and that Xbox ecosystem makes it seamless means in not tied to playing on a fixed screen which is not convenient. I can play anywhere in the home or away at console quality. When the only way to stream the PS5 is to chiaki-ng when at home it's just not worth the effort in comparison and ps+ has zero value comparison. Ecosystem is king. I won't be buying a PS6 because of the closed ecosystem.
The more games they put on PlayStation in the next few years the more PlayStation players will come to realize that they put out more good games than Sony, and they maybe will buy both consoles. Because there are enough subscription games on game pass to justify not buying the games for PlayStation. That savings alone pays for the Xbox. But who knows? I will always have both consoles. I might even get a switch 2. You only live once.

What ruined the GameCube was the idea of mini discs; too few wanted to work with them; considering the limitation of data they could contain. Techwise the console was superior to the ps2, but those discs really hindered it.
Steam on Xbox: Its simple....... If a game is 70 on steam but 'free' on gamepass (assuming you subscribed), then steam or not, people will play it on game pass. So if you are a gamer wanting a console...and dont want a pc ... you can have the best of both worlds by getting an Xbox with steam support. You can buy your one off games or pc exclusives on steam (along with everyones 500+ game steam libraries from years of steam sales) and play them on xbox without the need for a pc...and you can play all the games on gamepass for 'free' by paying microsoft the relatively low monthly cost for the sheer number of games on game pass. In the end, microsoft would rather have every gamer be subscribed to game pass and pay a monthly RECURING fee...then a one time purchase and 30% cut ONCE of a single purchase by a player. 30% of $70 is 21 dollars. The average gamer only buys a few games a year. So why settle for maybe 60 bucks a year from someone buying 3 individual games when that same person can be giving microsoft 120+ a year with a monthly gamepass sub. so thats the play. Valve doesnt care about subscriptions...they are all about single purchases. Microsoft doesnt care about single buys...they want subs to gamepass. So throw both on a single next gen console that is basically a pc, and wham... a very symbiotic mutually beneficial situation. Xbox consoles sales go way up...in turn game pass subs start growing again. And steam gets mor sales too. Win Win.

There is no chance MS is going to make Steam an integral part of their next gen console plans. I know people keep thinking that would be cool - and I agree, it would - but where is the benefit for MS? They want people buying games from *THEM* not from Valve. This is just pipe dreaming.
Xbox and Steam already have cross save compatibility in Indiana Jones and games going forward. They are already connected. Xbox publish games on steam and get their cut. It's just another storefront. But it makes PS games run on an a Xbox. It removes the need for a Sony device. It cancels completely Sony's moneyhatting rubbish. And it means I don't have to buy a playstation ever again and be price gouged by Sony.
The more partners that are on the Xbox OS the more they will invest in the eco system. More choice results in cheaper pricing. The amount of games that would be available to Xbox players would explode overnight. Plus id suspect that Microsoft would release their games & Games Pass on each rival app store. So they'd make money off them also.
I am hoping the Switch 2 will be as powerful as the PS4 pro. If we're going to have it for another 8 years before the Switch 3 then the more power it has the better to future proof it. We don't want developers complaining after 2 years on the market..

And Microsoft knows this. And if Playstation keep support only the old way of games from people over 40. They will lose at the end of the day. Nintendo is a wild card. Lets hope switch 2 sale well. I dont feel like I've been waiting... and waiting... for the nintendo switch 2. I am still loving my switch. It has waaaaaay to many incredible games. I got a ps5 and sold it to a friend after a year. It just didn't have the games and now... after all the years ps5 has been out, it finally has some games worth but I have a pc. So I'll just play some there.

My top 3 predictions this year are this. 1. Microsoft discontinued the Xbox franchise and partners with Nintendo and also release games as a 3rd party to Sony as well. 2. Dreamcast probably might be in switch 2 library of games. 3. Sony might keep the PlayStation brand but they will sell assets due to overbuying companies to stay afloat. And not to mention last year of the Snake (2013) they gave up the computer business. Those are my top 3 predictions.

My issue with the "This is an Xbox" advertising is I can't exactly play majority of my Xbox games (that I bought in my console) in my PC. So no, I can't exactly say it's an Xbox until they remove that barrier.
I think they just did. I could be wrong but I am sure I got an xbox message the other day that said I can now stream games I own. I can just hook my controller up to my android tablet and stream. I haven't tested it, so I don't know if it is ALL my games or games on a list that are not on gp, unsure.
We'll know if this strategy Microsoft is using was a good idea or the dumbest idea in video games consoles history when they launch their next-gen console. The numbers will tell us if it was a good idea or they killed their hardware brand by going with that strategy..We'll know how many people they lost because these moves they've been making
Whichever platform offers a physical library is the only one, I'll be interested in. Although I've predominantly been an Xbox gamer, I've seen their shift away from physical games, this generation more than ever, so I doubt the next generation Xbox will have a means to play physical games. I did get a PS5 this generation and whilst it's easier to find physical games on the PS5 as opposed to the Xbox, the PS5 Pro seems to show their shift away from physical media. Nintendo is looking like it'll probably be them offering physical media. I'm gearing up to possibly only get what offer physical games. I'm not interested in renting games via Gamespass and I won't pay full price for something I'll never own. With how modern games are being developed now, I'm starting to look at retro/emulation devices now, something in the past, I would never have dreamt of doing.
Xbox's games lineup is looking bright, but it's sad they gave up on hardware. They can say, "We'll still make Xbox consoles for 10 more generations!" and it wouldn't change the fact that almost everyone no longer sees the point of buying an Xbox anymore. The only people who it had any value for are long-time Xbox users who have a lot of games tied to the platform, and parents or kids who aren't particular about how they get to play Fortnite/Minecraft. Problem for MS is they do care about Game Pass, and GP on Xbox hardware allows them an easy way to sell GP going forward. Sony & Nintendo won't allow it unless they get a large cut (Sony probably still wouldn't allow it), so MS risks losing a huge chunk of users by sending the message that Xbox hardware no longer matters.
Knowing microsoft, the next Xbox will be AI based, and everyone will love it as much as the kinect 2. Sony will keep killing themselves with live service flops. Everyone will flock to Steam OS hardware because it is the only platform that doesn't hate its customers. Nintendo will keep being Nintendo, selling cheap hardware at a profit with the best cozy games in the world.
Handhelds have been around before the Switch. Nintendo just perfected it by fusing them together.. Fuuusion haaa! and the Switch is the ultimate form! The cell processors doesn't stand a chance!
Doesn't matter how good a game is if you forced to play it in a subpar way. I'm not paying $500 to play PS4 graphics on an 8 inch display. And no AI won't fix the issue. Release another sku or I'll just wait for PC.
Sony doesn't have one game on their roster going forward even slightly of interest except death stranding 2 and I will wait for the excusivity to drop before I buy it. Ghost of Yotei is not Jin = no buy. Not interested. Fair games = Sony multiplayer to tie me into their garbage ps+ = wont even watch a trailer because im not subbing to ps+ so why waste my time. Sony has nothing to offer in 2025. Same as 2023 and 2024. The switch 2 is about to get deluged by live service games like COD and all the rest which will reduce their first party sales. As I have a steam deck and switch 1 I cant see much need to buy a switch 2 and will wait for an emulator for it going down the line.
Sony and Nintendo will continue to operate the same way they always have. Xbox has been on the decline for a decade now. They will slowly phase out hardware and become a third party software publisher like Sega did.
XBOX GAMES + STEAM GAMES = STEAMBOX Console. Well it's definitely going to be excellent to blur the line between PC and console....So yeah.... I'm definitely looking forward to this next console Xbox is developing. Although I am hoping that you can connect your steam Deck to the next Xbox.

Sonys own titles can't compete with Xbox titles on its own platform and if Xbox removed COD today Sony would collapse. Xbox is a publisher exactly the same as Sony. Except Xbox published on playstation with live service games that soak up the revenue from playstation. That's why Sony is desperately trying to get a successful live service game on its own storefront that can compete. Then they get 100% of the revenue. We'll know if this strategy Microsoft is using was a good idea or the dumbest idea in video games consoles history when they launch their next-gen console. The numbers will tell us if it was a good idea or they killed their hardware brand by going with that strategy..We'll know how many people they lost because these moves they've been making
Whichever platform offers a physical library is the only one, I'll be interested in. Although I've predominantly been an Xbox gamer, I've seen their shift away from physical games, this generation more than ever, so I doubt the next generation Xbox will have a means to play physical games. I did get a PS5 this generation and whilst it's easier to find physical games on the PS5 as opposed to the Xbox, the PS5 Pro seems to show their shift away from physical media. Nintendo is looking like it'll probably be them offering physical media. I'm gearing up to possibly only get what offer physical games. I'm not interested in renting games via Gamespass and I won't pay full price for something I'll never own. With how modern games are being developed now, I'm starting to look at retro/emulation devices now, something in the past, I would never have dreamt of doing.

Xbox's games lineup is looking bright, but it's sad they gave up on hardware.
They can say, "We'll still make Xbox consoles for 10 more generations!" and it wouldn't change the fact that almost everyone no longer sees the point of buying an Xbox anymore.
The only people who it had any value for are long-time Xbox users who have a lot of games tied to the platform, and parents or kids who aren't particular about how they get to play Fortnite/Minecraft.
Problem for MS is they do care about Game Pass, and GP on Xbox hardware allows them an easy way to sell GP going forward. Sony & Nintendo won't allow it unless they get a large cut (Sony probably still wouldn't allow it), so MS risks losing a huge chunk of users by sending the message that Xbox hardware no longer matters.
You give too much credit to PS. I have zero hope in whatever they are cooking. My console may remain dusty for another year.
Knowing microsoft, the next Xbox will be AI based, and everyone will love it as much as the kinect 2. Sony will keep killing themselves with live service flops. Everyone will flock to Steam OS hardware because it is the only platform that doesn't hate its customers.
Nintendo will keep being Nintendo, selling cheap hardware at a profit with the best cozy games in the world.

Doesn't matter how good a game is if you forced to play it in a subpar way. I'm not paying $500 to play PS4 graphics on an 8 inch display. And no AI won't fix the issue.

Sony doesn't have one game on their roster going forward even slightly of interest except death stranding 2 and I will wait for the excusivity to drop before I buy it.

The switch 2 is about to get deluged by live service games like COD and all the rest which will reduce their first party sales.
As I have a steam deck and switch 1 I cant see much need to buy a switch 2 and will wait for an emulator for it going down the line.

Sony and Nintendo will continue to operate the same way they always have. Xbox has been on the decline for a decade now. They will slowly phase out hardware and become a third party software publisher like Sega did.

Well it's definitely going to be excellent to blur the line between PC and console....So yeah.... I'm definitely looking forward to this next console Xbox is developing.

Xbox has 4 publishers with multiple studios producing games and can produce over three times the numbers of games if not more than playstation.
51% of all sales on the playstation store are live service headed by COD, Minecraft, diablo 4 overwatch 2 and 7 more. And that's just Xbox live service games, not counting Indiana Jones and doom next year.
Saying Xbox isn't relevant is just sorry to say, silly. Sonys own titles can't compete with Xbox titles on its own platform and if Xbox removed COD today Sony would collapse.
Xbox is a publisher exactly the same as Sony. Except Xbox published on playstation with live service games that soak up the revenue from playstation.
That's why Sony is desperately trying to get a successful live service game on its own storefront that can compete. Then they get 100% of the revenue.
And no Helldivers 2 isn't it, it's carried by PC players, not ps5 players.

I am finally discovering Spyro because of GP right now and having a blast. @@mkdfan There’s no actual real evidence that Sony will port anything to Xbox. There’s no incentive to do so. Microsoft is making an extremely shortsighted move, it will make them money short term. But long term people who actually stuck with Xbox are going to come out looking like fools on a dead end console.
