I think that those rubber pads are primarily a safety feature as, you don't want a very heavy appliance to slide really across the bench. I like this idea but you'd need to watch it at ALL times. I know some people leave their mixers etc.
I have used them on my mixer and have had no issue with it moving. The weight of the mixer keeps it in place even when mixing bread dough but when you want to slide it out, it glides smoothly.
For suction cups - drop them in hot water for a small while (like less than 30 secs) and dry them and immediately stick them to your sink. It'll stay there a long time, if not forever, I discovered this from the manual instructions on using suction cups on cat perches that use suctions cups in windows, since then all the wall caddys and things stay on and are quite strong. My window cat perch has stayed strong for the entire 2 years I've had it. Make sure they're dry but still warm when you stick them on, don't wait to cool them down. Best to boil water from kettle or whatever you use and stick them in a jug for a bit. Give it a go. Hope this helps 😊
I have the same sink as Rach, suction cups won't stay on it because they are a rough matte finish. Suction cups can't make an airtight seal. The tip is great though because I haven't been able to keep my dragon's hammock up on the glass sides of her enclosure, this may fix that, so thank you.
I was trying to remember what was my dad doing to make them work... You reminded me that for small suction cups just blowing warm breath helps to keep them up for quite a while. So hot water should definitely work for a long time😊
With the toy storage containers you could just lay it on its back and have the doors up top if you wanted to put all of those mini toys in it. The top white lid seemed like it would stay pretty well on there to be able to lay like that.
My thoughts exactly!! Or you could also use a kind of dividing boxes to put in the box wher you can store the little things in (sort by sort, size by size or color by color), easy to take out of the box and it will not tumble out!! Lots of love from Pinkie
That lint brush might have been a poor design, but you definitely want to clean in the lint catch and the dryer vent itself as you get a lot of lint that builds up in there and it can cause a fire. There are long ones that you can buy to feed easily thru the vent hose and stuff.
In answer to Chris' good question. Former chemist here. If it's a mini version of a spectrophotometer, you don't want outside light getting in. The instrument should create it's own flash of light to create an accurate and consistent reading. Also, I love to watch this channel!
I would absolutely use the storage cupboards for my pottery/art supplies. And the goopy cleaners are amazing, especially great for getting pet hair out of tight places! The dirty gets kind of encapsulated in the goop and doesn't transfer back onto surfaces -- but you do need to replace from time to time.
There are so many things that effect paint color, including the surface the paint is on, the age of the paint, the brand, the formula, the pigments.... its also important to point out that companies change things all the time and colors/formulas are discontinued and renamed/reformulated a lot so getting exact matches is hard. best thing you can do is get extra paint when you paint. And just repaint to a color and remember it. Most hardware stores will even keep it on file for you. Source: former manager at a hardware store and mixed a lot of paint
This is all applicable with ceramic tile as well. Companies will discontinue a tile and then reissue it with a different style and color name. It's wild.
Those storage bins look great for storage. Esp for like household items like cleaning items, stuff you use a lot. You can see whats in it but the doors make it look nice. And the fact that they're harder to open for lil ones is a good thing depending on what youd wanna put in it.
For your drier vent, keyboards, etc just use the hose of the vacuum with an empty paper towel or toilet paper tube taped to it and smooshed flat. You'd be amazed at how much the drier filter doesn't catch. Also, check and vacuum out the vent that goes out of your house from the dryer! It makes the machine more effective and cuts down on the flammable material. 🤷🏼♀️
The stackable boxes with doors would be great for pantry/cleaning supplies/craft supplies organisation too. As you said, you can stack them and still access everything from the front and if you have one where you need things more often, you can put that one on the top and just take it along.
If you like scrub daddy, you should try scrub mommy! She has everything scrub daddy has, but also has a soft sponge side. She does it all because she's the mommy 😊
Those storage bin things could be good to use if someone lives in a small apartment and doesn’t have a lot of storage, for like canned goods or even a few pots + pans/dishes
I wonder if you can put the storage bins on their sides? So the doors open at the "top" instead of at the "side". Could work more the way you wanted for the kiddos to reach in and jam stuff in there.
For your mixer, try the sliding pad they make for Kitchenaids. I have one and its made so it doesn't stick out so it's visually appealing. It also won't scratch your counter top after all the repetitive moves back and forth. I have had mine for about 6 months and love it. Thanks for all your videos and keeping it real!
My grandma had a corner appliance garage cabinet and she put her Kitchen Aid on furniture sliders. It worked perfectly to slide it in and out and didn't scratch her counter.
For the storage bins and Lego's/duplos, I'd put them on their back so the doors were facing the ceiling. Then they won't fall out when you open the doors
Those boxes that open on the front are actually REALLY good for storing tools! I have some (not the same ones) in our storage room for tools, gardening supplies, car supplies and pet supplies. They are way better than storage bins because I don't need to take out all the heavy bins to open the bottom ones.
I live in a very small apartment and I have little storage area for my craft supplies. I could easily see having a few of those boxes sitting next to my craft desk to hold supplies that I don't use often. Although as you said they are a bit on the pricey side, so for me, dollar tree bins work for now.
Also, regarding your paint issue, there's a product called mixol universal tint, it's just liquid colorant and won't affect the texture/base of what you're mixing it into so you can buy pure yellow (or whatever else) and tint your existing paint to get the exact color you need. That way you can get the right shade you need without having to mix the paints back and forth.
The drying mat you said was made of diatomaceous earth might be good to set outside potted plants on. Diatomaceous earth is used at an insect repellent and it kills fleas.
I've only seen the powdered form used for insects, iirc they kick the dust up onto their exoskeletons and it breaks down said exoskeletons to kill them. Is the solid stone form still an actual deterrent/killer? Maybe it still affects them, or the smell puts them off (though it's less pronounced when not wet)?
It is sold a few ways that I know of like a brick and a powder that you sprinkle and then the cutting board that she tested which I never heard about before. It repels some insects by odor otherwise is cuts them up and dries them up.
I also have a sill granite sink and suction cups won’t stick. Also, clean your dryer filter every time a load finishes. It helps it dry faster and as others said, prevents lint buildup which can cause fires. As for removing the filter and cleaning the opening that goes to the dryer hose, YES, clean this. You can actually get an attachment for your vacuum that will fit inside the small opening in the dryer when you remove the dryer filter, and you can vacuum the lint out. I don’t suggest doing this when you are cleaning out the vent hose because you can end up ruining your vacuum with the amount of lint that you’ll vacuum out. If you have a really good shop vac with a good filter, you could use that. You’re better off using your hands and pulling it out of the vent hose, just wear gloves and a mask. You can easily detach the hose if accessible and clean it from the back, this should be done yearly. Strata buildings/units clean them yearly but if you don’t have that, clean it yourself or hire someone.
This! I take the dryer filter out and clean it after every load. Less frequently, but still quite often, I take a shop-vac with a small attachment and vacuum out the area of lint once I’ve taken the filter out. More infrequently, and with assistance, I get someone to help me clean The actual hose vent - which we do use a shop vac for but I know ours has a special filter and it’s a different attachment than I’d use in the dryer lint filter area, or say, cleaning my car carpet. There are also professionals who will blow it out for you. The other thing to be aware of is where your dryer vents too - Some people have a lot of vent tubing because of where their dryer is located in their house (laundry room maybe “inside” and the vent may be more tubing to get to the outside- or have to twist or go through insulation or between stories of the house). At my house, we had the dryer ventilation designed so it exited the wall right beside the dryer, and plumbed into the garage to exit the side of the house - instead of going behind/under the laundry room and exiting the house in the back - because it would have required the ventilation to go under a hallway & bathroom. The vent tube is much shorter and is straight. This is probably why we have less build-up, and can safely blow/suck out the vent ourselves. I know at our old house, the combination of vent location and tubings curves to by-pass other rooms meant we had to be more careful. But dryers were older then too - so ask your electrician or other certified professional about how this applies to your specific appliance and in your home’s set up.
To get into groves, tight spaces etc. and clean things out: Buy a soft brush (painter’s brush or similar) of adequate size, and use it together with a strong vacuum cleaner, including cleaning agent (alcohol etc.) if necessary. Make sure to cover metal or sharp parts of the brush. This is how we detail the difficult interior nooks and crannies of high value vehicles. Best wishes
@@bcgrote Agreed. But if you have to get deeper into tiny grooves, there are sharp edges (seat rack etc.), you run into grease, oils, or need to use chemicals, original long bristles are the best option, as they take a beating, stand up to chemicals, and can simply be rinsed out. So you can use them “forever”. Best wishes
Those storage bins look super cute. I'd separate out the duplo pieces a bit - like people in one box, arches and odd shaped in another, normal squares in one, etc. That way they don't fall out AND it's easier to find the pieces that you want! Win win! (But I was a kid that liked sorting things so I enjoyed putting things away "properly" ... Idk how easy/hard it would be for other kids lol)
Rachel I read this when I was looking at the item on Amazon. A small layer of petroleum jelly may be applied to the scrub holder’s suction cup before securing to the prepared surface for maximum sticking power.
For the sponge holder thingy, there are stickers with the sole purpose of making things like that stick to textured surfaces, they are clear and just a little bigger then the suction thing, so they don’t ruin the aesthetic. I use one on my shower tiles. I bought mine at Daiso but I’m sure they are on Amazon as well. I have sink envy by the way🥰😅
I look forward to the warmer months the most , is sitting on my patio till wee hours in the summertime! Watching the sun go down, watch the kids place listening to the birds !!
I sew and I was actually looking at those exact organizer totes for my fabric, and seeing you use them that might actually be the optimal use for them. Easy to pull fabric out of, which you don't do every day, can throw new big pieces in from the top, looks a lot nicer than open cube shelves.
I clean the filter and hoover the inside part of where it sits, one of our old tumble dryers caught alight once. It's amazing how much stuff comes out of there and in the pipe
I was thinking of using the bins for shoes. They seem tall enough for boots, and they can open the door to pull a pair out. And shoes can stack a little bit without falling out of the cabinet. We learned paint fades overtime because we thought our bathroom was flat and it was actually shine. So repainting was not matching at all 😂
I would use the container to store bed sheets and things like that because I really hate having to like dig under the bed or take out another container or try to find a room in the bottom drawer somewhere to keep all the spare bed sheets
On my "Francesco" I put the little pads that you use on the bottom of chair legs to keep them from scratching the floor. Now she slides across the cabinet so easily.
I have the same tap handle as you so I just place the sponge on that. I put it so it's facing up and put the handle through the eye hole of my scrub daddy. I hate having to look at it but at least it is not sitting in the sink and it can still drain
For franny you can get chair sliders/gliders that are little plasticy type disks that slide over the floor really easy. You can get different sizes and they fix on really well. I think amazon sell them, as well as most good hardware stores. We even have these on one side of our washing machine and tumble dryers so we can lift and slide them out (if you have them on both sides they will go walkies as they spin 😅)
Dryer cleaning. We remove the screen holder twice a year inside. You will be amazed how much lint gets packed down there. I clean the lint trap after every load too!
The organizers would be great for back stock of things like toilet paper, paper towels ect. Or could be great storage for kitchen stuff you need for special occasions. Like extra plate wear, glasses, serve wear ect.
I just wanted to recommend looking at AIEVE Appliance Sliders instead - they are made out of Teflon so don’t scratch countertops and have a really good adhesive. Work like a dream on my countertop!
The stackable shelves, for each kids winter items toques, mitts, hats ect . I have hanging organizers in ❤our front closet that I use for our winter clothing . Shoes too .
Also for those wheely pads for appliances I recommend for other type of appliances but not for stand mixers and blenders. they actually need the base to be very stable because they shake with a lot of force. Maybe it's better for things like a coffee or espresso machine, a juicer, maybe a food processor (if it doesn't move a lot) and stuff like that.
Professional painter here! And yes to everything everyone is saying about how light effects how your color will look. As you have shown those color match tools can only be so accurate and will typically never be exactly right. How we usually match paint is take a piece of drywall in with the paint on it, like your contractor did, but then you have to have them dry a small sample of the paint they mix up onto that piece of drywall to see how well the match is exactly, machines aren't perfect sometimes. If it isn't exactly right you can tell them to make it slightly lighter or slighty darker to better match the paint on the wall. At least that's how it works at Sherwin Willams paint stores we use.
I bought a “sliding mat” for my KitchenAid stand mixer. It’s great. Slides just well enough without moving when I don’t want it to, and it’s super thin, so it doesn’t add to the height of the mixer.
for that part in the dryer that accumulates a bit of lint, i think if you use a vacuum cleaner or even one of those handheld vacuums, with the thing nozzle attachment, you'll get the stuff that's in there without much effort and without making a huge mess
That big dryer brush is AWESOME! Straighten it all the way, and shcoop in there like it's a bottle brush. The lint drops into the dryer under the drum, then out a vent. The ENTIRE vent needs cleaning, but using the brush will get most of the chunks of lint out.
Is there some kind of silicone pad that will lay across the middle of the sink with a holder part? Also for the dryer, i used my vacuum and was appalled by how much was still down there, hold that thing down and take a look 😳
Reminder paint sheens can change the look of the paint. So the sheen has to match what's already there. So if you have satin stay with it, but if you have flat/matte satin will look different because of the way light reflects off it.
Most fires start in dryers due to lint not being cleaned out of there, so yes, you especially want to get that stuff out. That area should be cleaned frequently. It is worth the time and mess. I personally know 3 people who had severe fires because they never cleaned that part of the lint trap. I use my lint brush once a week, always have.
In addition to cleaning the hard-to-reach area below/around the lint trap regularly, you (general you) should also be cleaning out the large exhaust section annually. Again, fire hazard! As a bonus to all of it, dryers dry more effectively when all the lint is cleared out. You'd think the lowered risk of fire would be the main thing, but the efficiency can be a lot more immediately noticeable
for getting into the grooves under the keyboard keys, you can try canned air, with the little straws for precision. they're fairly cheap for each one and they work well
Years ago I got an attachment for my vacuum called a”lint lizard”. It has a long tube like a tongue that reaches way down and sucks out the lint! Works great!
Scrub daddies/mommies actually have their own caddies that suctions to flat surfaces! It’s clear, suctions well, and doesn’t sit flush meaning you can rinse down your sink without wetting the sponge! My absolute favorite
Two thoughts. 1- I put the dish sponges/scrubbers in the dishwasher every time we run a cycle. Keeps them from getting gross. 2- there’s an attachment for your vacuum that you can use for the lint catcher in the dryer. That way it doesn’t make a mess. Hope that helps!!
Oh Rachel use a vacuum style one for your dryer because it does need cleaned out. I like the bins and I have used the jelly stuff in my car in the vents and coffee holders before I wipe them out. But my grandson thought it was slim and decided to take it out of the said car to play with. Grandma’s have a hard time with no lol. Hearing the birds chirping in the early morning and seeing crocuses in my garden makes me happy in the spring. Also waiting 10 minutes for the geese to cross the road. Canadian girl problem.
I think I'm digging the drying mat! I've never seen this product but I'm familiar with diatomaceous earth. Have used it in my pool filters for years. AND you can sprinkle it around your baseboards if you're having a bug issue. It's a neat .... product? Element? Item. Idk. But it looks like diatomaceous earth has got another plus in its column. I want this drying mat
U could try the sponge holder on the inside of ur sink cabinet.. still out of the way but accessible. And the dryer brush u can swish underneath ur machines ( fridge & stove too), but the vacuum thingy works better to clean out down inside the vent.
The paint will change based on natural light, the type of light (sunlight, if it’s cloudy out) if you use white light or natural light lightbulbs. Theses all factor into how your paint colour is going to look on the wall. We have used one paint colour on our walls in our upstairs and depending on the time of day, the season (because that affects where the sun is in the sky and how it comes through the windows) will affect how our room looks. In some light it looks more blue and then other lights it looks more gray. The best way to test the paint colour once you get the sample is to put it on the area that you want to repaint and View it throughout the day. You can also then paint a sample piece of cardboard and tape it to the wall so you can see it in the other areas of your home that has the same paint colour and see how it looks throughout the day and you’ll be able to get the best match. As for the numbers on the side of the paint can, that is the code that they use to mix the colour. It will have a certain percentage of say black, or white, or yellow to make the colour that you asked for them to make. So if you find a paint that you really like save that code because then you could have it mixed anywhere they mix paint and It won’t need to be specific to a brand. I am not a professional painter, just wanna put that out there. I am just someone who has a lot of experience with doing home renovations on our own home.

Diamatacious earth is used in gardening, farming and filtering and typically smells really "earthy"
Those storage drawers would be great for my cake supplies I’ll have to look them up. 💕
Those storage systems would be great for diapers, wipes and those things that along with that. They wouldn’t fall out but is easily accessible.
I clean the filter and hoover the inside part of where it sits, one of our old tumble dryers caught alight once. It's amazing how much stuff comes out of there and in the pipe
The area under the dryer filter definitely needs to be cleaned, and so does the vent duct. Letting lint build up is a fire hazard. 🔥
I've taken the screws out and pulled out the part that holds the filter and cleaned it out with a vacuum;. I was shocked at all that was in there.
I have a super skinny attachment on my vacuum and I use that in my lint trap
Use vacuum bags to put out of season clothing and store them in those containers
I was thinking of using the bins for shoes. They seem tall enough for boots, and they can open the door to pull a pair out. And shoes can stack a little bit without falling out of the cabinet.
We learned paint fades overtime because we thought our bathroom was flat and it was actually shine. So repainting was not matching at all 😂
I made my own cleaning slime. I just use it until its dirty or dry. Then I make more. I use the magic gel stuff you add to school glue
I got one of those dryer brushes and I was shocked at how much lint I got out underneath my trap
I would use the container to store bed sheets and things like that because I really hate having to like dig under the bed or take out another container or try to find a room in the bottom drawer somewhere to keep all the spare bed sheets
That storage makes sense for shoes handbags and throw blankets or scarves
Your paint looks very similar to mine which is Pebble Shore by Dulux! Came out completely different to the tin colour but I love it!!
I recently cleaned my parent’s lint trap on their dryer. I used the shop vac. It was quick, easy, and created zero mess.
Turn the containers on its side so the doors are up for the smaller items
I just wanted to recommend looking at AIEVE Appliance Sliders instead - they are made out of Teflon so don’t scratch countertops and have a really good adhesive. Work like a dream on my countertop!
You can get a little hose that attaches to your vacuum to clean the dryer vent.
I would use the boxes as shoe storage by the front door. Assign everyone a slot and thats where the shoes go when they come inside.
The storage bins are great for a preteen/teens room who are to “old” for a toybox/bin but still have have things like that to store or organize.
Could you not use the 3m two sided tape for your scrub daddy holder?
i am picturing the mixer moving while it is running with the wheels
Those bins could be good for seasonal or special occasion shoes or storing purses or bags
Those stackable containers with the doors would be great near the door to corral shoes, flippie sandals, winter hats/scarves/mittens, etc....
For the scrub daddy holder, maybe put it in the cabinet underneath the sink on the door? also use a vacuum attachment to get the lint out of dryer.
Vacuum using the long nozzle for the dryer
16:33 put little baskets in there so putting it away through the top and taking it out from the side would be super easy!
Ooooh I would also use it as a kind of laundry basket with the top off then fold the clothes and use the doors to get them out!
The ENTIRE vent needs cleaning, but using the brush will get most of the chunks of lint out.
you could use the little furniture moving sliders at the bottom of Francesca
The toy containers are great we have them for my daughters toys and love them!
Turn the storage on its side so the doors are on top. I have them lining the wall in my classroom. They work great that way.
Is there some kind of silicone pad that will lay across the middle of the sink with a holder part? Also for the dryer, i used my vacuum and was appalled by how much was still down there, hold that thing down and take a look 😳
I saw on Amazon that those storage bins can also be like a bookcase and it stored then nicely.
Reminder paint sheens can change the look of the paint. So the sheen has to match what's already there. So if you have satin stay with it, but if you have flat/matte satin will look different because of the way light reflects off it.
For Francesca use felt or wool "buttons" and she'll mix without shimmying across countertop, but will still allow you to pull her out easily.
I am thinking those cabinet organizers would be a great shoe storage option.
Scrub daddies/mommies actually have their own caddies that suctions to flat surfaces! It’s clear, suctions well, and doesn’t sit flush meaning you can rinse down your sink without wetting the sponge! My absolute favorite
I have one of those and ❤ it!
There’s actually a mat the entire bottom shape of kitchen-aide mixers to help with sliding it on counters, it’s great!!
Ordered stackable shelves for my sewing room. Still waiting. Think it will be great so I can see what I have in my fabric stash
Daffodils are my favourite part of spring, they’re my favourite flower 💛💛💛💛💛 xx
For the scrub daddy thing, get a flat magnet sticker with a glossy side for the suction to stick too.
For the lint trap in your Drayer - just use the attachment on a shop-vac, or even a regular vacuum.
I use a soap dish/stone from good molecules that's diatomaceous earth just like this
It's good to add to litter boxes to soak up some pee too, I think
Those casters have a weight limit…it’s pretty light. I had to use 6 for my Cricut and it still doesn’t roll great.
