Add to that how many trolls will instigate and incite at any sign of weakness or vulnerability. Children of today’s age have it way worse on the internet than back in the day when it was a new frontier. You have things like twitch and tiktok paired up with Fortnite and people like neon and adin ross and you break an entire generation. The detachment and apathy toward everything is just so disheartening

This guy definitely falls unde the "how did this guy get famous?" pile. Child audience is a whole new world we adults don't know of.
You're right about taking kids off of the internet, this is a major cultural shift that needs to happen, because censorship and stuff is sometimes not enough and only ends up hurting. But it's very hard to ask the lazy / manchild generation to "raise your kids better", because they were raised sort of the same way, and often only snowball the problem further.

Censorship never helps, ever, and all these UA-camrs only came up from being the “edgy” guys saying things that other self censor. If people didn’t try to censor every edgy joke, people like neon would never have a career.

I'd love for someone much smarter than I (if it hasn't been done already) to do a sort of Jungian analysis on the idea of "chat". The way streamers speak of it like a single being, like some kind of ego outside of themselves, that nonetheless influences their actions greatly; yet in itself isn't a single entity but composed of many smaller ones. Really makes me think of Jung's work, but I only have a passing familiarity with it.

Such an underrated video. I 1000% agree with the overall conclusion of how the internet is not suited or programmed for kids and how it can produce bad mentalities for the children when viewing such displays of forced/favored stupidity (like Neon). Crap like that ultimately is a detriment to the clay minds of today's kids. Parents and society as a whole need a slap in the face to show them what they really need to be talking about in terms of dangerous content, not just online bullying, scams, online strangers, etc.

This gotta be one of the most jaded takes, about online fame, Ive ever seen. Claiming that we should look for things that fullfil us and give us a sense of purpose, and then dismissing being a content creator or "influencer" as part of that, is just extremelly ignorant. Yes the guy is a dumbass and managed to make a career for himself quite young, but he pretends as if Neon didnt start making youtube videos over half a decade ago, with a pretty good consistency. I have to be in a specific mood to watch your content because you often clearly articulate deep abstract fears and thoughts that I have but set aside without exploring because they cause me distress. I am raising my daughter who is now 13, and the state of the internet and social media is terrifying. I have failed despite my best efforts to keep her away from it, so I am constantly nudging her away from these awful influences.
Things like her becoming a perpetually outraged, neurodivergent Twitter activist, a lonely parasocial streamer chatter, an only fans girl, someone completely disconnected from reality and held captive by likes and interactions online, etc are always on my mind. I spent the majority of my childhood before the internet was in middle class homes, and I was we into adulthood when smart phones became accessible for everyone.

In my experience the best way to get kids away from their phones is to 1) get them into a sport (but don’t force it) and 2) start firewalling stuff. I know a lot of kids that are much better people than they were because they set aside a bit of their lives to get good at a sport rather than be on their phone. I also personally blocked a bunch of sites and keywords on my own router to at the very least prevent my brother from accessing the worst of the internet

I can't respond directly, but being born in early 90ies, I am happy to have enjoyed gaming without internet in my pre- and early teens and then experiencing internet at a slightly more mature age (around 15). Internet definitely killed some good things from the past, people don't socialize and collaborate like before.
When I was a kid, me and friends were trying to build a crossbow. We were testing our prototypes seeing who will get the longest shot distance, whose arrow would lodge deepest into tree, etc. I can't see gen Alpha kids doing this despite having so much information on their fingertips. Knowledge is there, but creativity and dedication is not..

It was just talking about how messed up we are and men are so “persecuted” and the video had thousands of comments just… being negative and talking about “normies” and all that garbage. I tried telling one of them what essentially boiled down to “You sitting here being negative gets you nowhere. This channel is exploiting you, and these fellow depressed men do NOT care about you.” And I was told that “well I struggle with life daily, that’s why I’m like this.”
So disconnected, it’s appalling. I’m not sure if he’s implying I don’t struggle with life, or… that he’s worth more than me? (The constant down talking of what they call “normies”)

Content like XQC and neon, or all long hour reactionary based streamers are decadents through and through in their content. Nothing of value or of intellectual nuance.
Although… XQC had potential to be better.

Will you go to Heaven when you die ? Have you ever Lied, stolen, used Gods name in vain (such as OMG), Had sex outside of Marriage ? Truth is...We have all sinned and broke Gods laws. And sin is what sends us to Hell. But even though we broke Gods laws, God being rich in mercy sent his son Jesus born of a virgin. He lived a sinless perfect life something we could not do. He willingly went to the cross and took the punishment we deserve by dying on the cross for our sins. Then 3 days later rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eye witnesses and then ascended into Heaven where he sits at the right hand of God. So please today put your Faith and trust in Jesus before its too late.

This gotta be one of the most jaded takes, about online fame, Ive ever seen. Claiming that we should look for things that fullfil us and give us a sense of purpose, and then dismissing being a content creator or "influencer" as part of that, is just extremelly ignorant. Yes the guy is a dumbass and managed to make a career for himself quite young, but you pretend as if Neon didnt start making youtube videos over half a decade ago, with a pretty good consistency. The guy was clearly trying to go somewhere, at the very least, and didnt wake up famous and rich one day without doing anything...

    • @StumbIingforward

I didn’t finish the video yet, but “fame” itself is something that should be reserved for heroes and life savers. The concept of being a celebrity is nonsensical. At best someone is talented at something, and that’s as far as it actually goes. Idol worship is disgusting and should be mocked until it’s no longer a thing. All this is is modern kids growing up thinking “I want to be a celebrity so bad, I need attention”. This kid is the perfect example of that.
No, he doesn’t get credit for trying to “go somewhere” when that going somewhere means making money and gaining clout. Those aren’t things people should be sacrificing their integrity and morality to achieve. Anyone can go into stores and be a disrespectful clown to strangers and get kicked out. Anyone can do pranks. Anyone can make vlogs. These aren’t jaded takes, this is reality. It isn’t a good thing that we live in a world and a time where this guy can become “popular” and influence youth to strive for the same empty goals.

    • @wugira76
      @wugira76 6 місяців тому +1

@@RicBucky my main point is that he pretends as if Neon didnt put any kind of effort into being where he is today, while trying to portray the concept of having a sucessful online career as something bad.
This is why I also claim that the guy is jaded, since he cant fadom the fact of actually taking a risk and pursuing something in life that isnt already pre-established by conventional ideals (in this example, an online career).
Like I said, I agree that Neon is a dumbass, but trying to discredit everything he acomplished thus far is just dumb
