@@wout123100 Did you bother to read what I said? I said "Great reaction". At no point did I say how someone SHOULD react, I only pointed out that many people will complain IF there is a pause during a David Gilmour guitar solo. The same can be said for @crimsonkingalby's comment. Nobody in this thread criticized the reaction, they simply pointed out that OTHER people are likely to complain about pausing. I SUGGESTED a possible solution to reduce the volume of negative comments by the overly sensitive and intolerant people who get triggered if someone doesn't 'obey the rules' that they arbitrarily decide upon. I find it rather sad that people don't pay attention to what is said and draw their own conclusions regardless of the facts.
50-year Pink Floyd fan here. My favorite band ever and always will be, and the more you hear, the more you will understand why. This song leads directly and organically into the next - The Great Gig in the Sky - and they should be listened to as a pair. Very few reactors actually do that, but those who try it are well rewarded. Time is about how easy it is to let the years pass you by. TGGITS is keyboardist Rick Wright's musical expression of how it feels when your time finally runs out, and features one of the greatest female vocal solos I have ever heard (by guest vocalist Clare Torrey). They are inextricably connected. My recommended essential PF playlist: 1. The entire Dark Side of the Moon album. Arguably the greatest rock album ever recorded and the quintessential concept album. It's meant to be heard in one continuous sitting, but I understand how problematic that is for a reactor. Do your best. 2. From the studio album, you must at the very least hear TGGITS, Money, and the endpiece duo Brain Damage/Eclipse, but I strongly recommend you do them all. 3. From the band's follow-up to Dark Side, first do parts 1-5 of Shine On You Crazy Diamond (this will absolutely blow your mind), then do parts 6-9 (this will blow it again). Wish You Were Here third, then Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar. 4. Before going on to any more studio recordings, you should definitely check out some of their live performances from the incredible 1994 Pulse concert. Absolutely essential: Comfortably Numb (featuring what many including myself regard as the greatest live rock guitar solo ever performed), Sorrow (another astounding Gilmour signature guitar solo), Run Like Hell, Time/TGGITS, One of These Days, and their live stage performance of Shine On You Crazy Diamond parts 1-5. (Do yourself a favor: get hold of a copy of the remastered and re-edited Pulse blu-ray. Set aside a couple of hours, lock the doors, turn off the lights, silence your phone and watch the whole thing straight through from beginning to end. It's all great, and there's no better way to soak in the full Pink Floyd experience at once. If I was to be marooned on an island with only one album to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be the Pulse concert album, which happens to include a live performance of the entire Dark Side of the Moon album.) 5. From The Wall (studio double album): Another Brick in the Wall Part 2, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, Mother. 6. From the Animals studio album: the whole thing really, but at the very least start with Pigs (Three Different Ones). 7. Double back to Meddle, the album preceding Dark Side. This album marked the point where the band transitioned from their early Sid Barrett-led psychedelic phase to the David Gilmour/Roger Waters progressive rock iteration they're best known for. Can't-miss tracks: Echoes (a masterpiece sonic tour of the universe in 25 minutes), One of These Days (classic Gilmour lap steel guitar banger), Fearless. 8. From their 1994 Division Bell album: Sorrow, High Hopes, Coming Back to Life. All of the unmentioned songs on these albums (and other albums not mentioned here) are also well worth hearing, but I've tried to highlight the most definitive material marking their high point as a band throughout the 1970s. They've all since done admirable solo work as well. This is music that will continue to entrance, amaze, fascinate and comfort you 50 years from now and beyond, I can confidently promise you that. I love seeing young listeners come to this music with open minds, as eager to immerse themselves in it as you are. Welcome to the rabbit hole.
The vast majority of Pink Floyd songs have this quality - to put you in a trance. You don't want the best ones (and the choice is downright individual for each listener) to end. For me, it's always sheer delight and admiration at the same time - and I've been listening to them for almost fifty years now - over and over again... But you shouldn't stop now and continue to the next track - The Great Gig in the Sky. That's another masterpiece on this album (which is actually all masterpieces). Take some time and atmosphere and I recommend listening to it pretty much all at once, by itself. In my opinion, this is one of the most groundbreaking pieces of music in history. The first side in each song is about life from birth to death and the second side is about human qualities (greed, cruelty...). It's incredibly clever and not only in content but of course musically.

Ideally, when you’re alone, the whole Album should be listened to from start to finish. As it is meant to be heard. Lying down, eyes closed, headphones nice and loud. It’s only 42 minutes. I’ve been listening to it since the day I bought my original Vinyl Album, which was the day it was released in 1973, aged 17. And I’ll never tire of listening to it. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’. Headphones or a nice sound system... The experience of listening to Floyd on a good sound system highly surpasses the headphone experience ... but if your setup is sub par than yeah... headphones are the way to go...
I watch a lot of "reaction" videos and Often times I see people reacting to the music and totally missing the lyrics ........ I feel that you have done the same thing here, I encourage you to try again and really let the lyrics sink in......... Pink Floyd's lyrics are always as deep as the music.........
Do you tiresome people never stop? I bet you're actually thrilled every time someone pauses a solo so you can start frantically typing out the same old, same old, dreary sentence. Just let people enjoy the music however they want to.
Pink Floyd likes to build a journey. Enjoy the ride. Masters of sound long before todays technology. This Album is 51 years old this year. Welcome to the machine!❤️✌🏻
The music... the tune, is so good...and yet the words, the message...is anything but pleasant. And the older you get...the more relevant and hard hitting the lyrics become. I would suggest you re-listen to this song on your own, and read the lyrics as you go along. They'll hit home.
Or if you want "one instrument" to actually steal the show.... This track transitions directly into "The Great Gig in the Sky" with guest vocalist Clare Torry ❤
If you’re not super familiar with PF, you will notice that they make incredibly interesting and unexpected sounds that really make their music so recognizable. The song Money is a great example of that. I hope you enjoy a full PF rabbit hole!
IMHO this is one of the two most perfectly composed/performed pieces pf music in existence. The other one is theirs too....And it is #1 for me = That being "Shine on you Crazy Diamond parts 1-5
They do the question and answer too with 2 different lead vocalists. David Gilmour starts the song Richard Wright, sings the 2nd verse with harmonizing behind him, they do that again after the guitar solo then at the end.
@@Sohum If you watch the live Version from Pulse you can see how they do it. I saw them on the tour that Pulse was recorded on. when they sang this one they had the whole stadium singing it with them. It was quite an experience. It was a cold May evening in the Boston area, I was freezing but still loved the show.
The logo from Dark Side of the Moon is also called a prism. You noticed that David Gilmour's guitar is like nothing else; he is the greatest emotive guitar player of all, imo. Pink Floyd has so many amazing songs. It's probably best to recommend listening to their album Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety first, then the album Wish You Were Here. They are concept albums (as well as The Wall and Animals) and the songs blend into each other. Two of their greatest songs, imo, are Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Echoes (and I'd recommend watching it live from Pompeii in 1971). btw, please don't pause or talk during a Gilmour guitar solo; that's a big no-no.
4/20+ is coming.😁😎 You caught on immediately. Well done. I had a great uncle who ultimately lived 112 years. When I was in High School he told me that living a long time was like taking one day away for every year you live. Now that I'm 62 it makes perfect sense. (non-sequitur)
Great reaction, I’ve been practicing this guitar solo for about 2 weeks now. It’s fun to play you should definitely try learning it. It has some fun bends and slides😊.
Listen to Time again together with The Great Gig In The Sky, then when you finally return to earth, listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond.....that is a trip no one has ever returned from. lol
The Home Again section is a reprise of the second track on Dark Side of The Moon, Breathe (In The Air), which is why it's different. This was released in 1973, so probably no Bob Marley influence.
Speaking of space Odyssey 2001 there is a video that somebody did with the 23 minute version of Pink Floyd's song Echoes and it's timed with right when Bowman the astronaut goes in to the monolith next to Jupiter. It actually better than the movie soundtrack and it's timeed even better with how the movie changes in that last unbelievable psychedelic acid trip of a scene!!
Now you have to move into the following track which may bring a tear to your eye. The Great Gig in the Sky. The two need to be listened together. Time, then The Great Gig. A lot of PF's tracks stand way out to one side of mainstream. They rarely 'shred', but use empty spaces in their music, taking their time and getting it rust right.
You need to relisten with lyrics so that the song all makes sense. The beginning with the clocks then the heartbeat is the beginning of life then you're a kid kicking around waiting for something to do or just sitting home cuz its a rainy day then the solo was your life passing you by then you run and you run to catch up to the sun to make up for lost time before you realize you can't get it back. The sun races up behind you again so the sun is the same in a relative way, but you are older in fact with less breath and one day closer to death. The tolling of the iron bell was the end of life. The older you get the more this song hits home!!! I was 10 when this came out in 1973.
"Time" from The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by Harvest Records in the UK and Capitol Records in the US. On the week of 5 May 2006 The Dark Side of the Moon achieved a combined total of 1,716 weeks on the Billboard 200 and Pop Catalog charts. Wikipedia.
If I could do a fantasy draft and pick any person to play guitar, David Gilmore would be my choice. There may be guitarists who are arguably better but David has a knack for creating those special guitar chords that hit your soul. He is a great vocalist as well
The fast tempo at the beginning represents young age and then it is gradually slowing throughout the song, which represents getting older and dying. It ends abruptly as life does one day. The music represents the lyrics, you should listen to them, they are incredibly important here.
Great reaction! There are not really any rules regarding how one listens to Pink Floyd! I suspect that this will not be the last time that you listen to this. You can't have just one. The cuts on the album do flow into each other which is why songs seem to end in odd ways. With PF I would recommend listening to available studio recordings before listening to live versions. This band was meticulous in how they constructed the pieces for each album. Sometimes the tempo and phrasing can be different on live recordings. Sometimes whole passages, both instrumental and lyrical can be changed. Most people came to love this material because they listened to the albums and didn't hear it live first. Enjoy the journey!
Pink Floyd Time Nice and thoughtful reaction and analysis of the musical elements of this song. You're getting the genius of Pink Floyd. I could hear a slower Reggae tempo where you mentioned it. Also, the slower tempo change at the end is probably meant as an allusion to the slowing down at the end one's life. One thing you didn't mention specifically was the lyric meanings which are also reflected in the music, and which are worth a comment. One suggestion is to do this whole album all songs are great. BTW This album has the record for remaining in the Billboard’s 200 albums list for 988 weeks in total (and 593 consecutive weeks) quite an accomplishment.
OMG YAY You get IT!!! The same thing happens to me when i listen to Pink Floyd & also My Beloved Led Zeppelin they both put me at least in a **Trance** like state where space & time stop & you are off into your own lil Universe/Dimension/Realm/Place they are **Otherworldly** anyway both bands are **GeniusMagicalGifts* & i am going to subscribe right now i like hearing your thoughts & feelings & Hope ya will do some Led Zeppelin (if ya havent already that is then sorry new here heh) **Enjoy** the journey
First off it's not a logo, it is the album cover image of Dark Side of the Moon, and it depicts a prism. Second it is not a fatty synth wave, it is a Fender Rhodes electric piano at the beginning, and it continues throughout, though in the main song the Rhodes is modulated with a wah-wah pedal or box. This was recorded in 1971 - there were no digital synths, only analogue. As others have said, the lyrics are as moving and deep as is the music and you missed them here. Also this is one of the best engineered soundscapes of all time, which is part of the reason it is so good. Back in the day and to this day various audiophiles use Dark Side of the Moon to calibrate or test high end sound systems for their quality and clarity because the mix and dynamics and clarity and imaging and separation etc are so incredible. And you must listen to the entire album from start to finish, as it is like a modern day symphony, not of individual songs, but comprised of movements that flow into the next and tells a story about the human condition. There is a reason it is one of the highest selling albums of all time. Then you should watch the documentary by the band, on the making of: ua-cam.com/video/jUBnS5G34IM/v-deo.html (PINK FLOYD - The Dark Side Of The Moon 2003 Documentary HD) And last, Pink Floyd had a stage/light show that was as wondrous as their music so you must see a live performance or several. Try these: ua-cam.com/video/CK_BcyKOAt4/v-deo.html (Pink Floyd - One Of These Days (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited)) ua-cam.com/video/7kWl-ZGMwkQ/v-deo.html (Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited)) ua-cam.com/video/4oK1Jco6JFM/v-deo.html (Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-5 & 7) [PULSE Restored & Re-Edited])
Mr Gillmour gets some amazing sounds out of his guitar/amp configurations that can get very technical in description but it's one of the reasons his guitar has such unique sound quality in various Floyd compositions. He's adding various tremolo and fuzz effects and pedals, it all gets very technical. He even fixates on the surface of the wood of the guitar.. sanding it down in various places to achieve a certain ambient tone that makes it uniquely his sound. "Money" off this same album is another example. The tone he gets in the recurring riff (refrain), is almost totally unique to this one song. His genius lies as much in his technical approach as it does is in his playing. Truly one of the greatest of all time. Check out "Comfortably Numb" next. Studio version first please. Prepare to be blown away. Also, a bit of Caution: Please refrain from interrupting Gilmour's guitar solos. It is considered improper amongst Floyds legions of devoted fans.
Great reaction and you’re clearly a musician. I’d recommend listening to the whole album in one shot if you ever get the chance. The last minute of what you listened to there is not the song Time - it was a reprise of one of the main themes of the album. And the backing vocals throughout are superb - with highlight being the Great Gig in the Sky track…
There's a UA-cam of the end of 2001 A Space Odyssey put to Pink Floyd "Echoes" It's pretty trippy! Or You might also enjoy Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972 No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics just Gods playing to the Gods A little song about all life on the entire planet and how we should be better human beings With a great dollop of Dave Gilmour getting funky af
You should definitely learn this solo. Dave's slow bends and over bends are second to none. The 1and 1/2 tone bend is a bit of a signature and his clean sound...
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Pink Floyd's "Shine on you Crazy Diamond". I feel like you'd really enjoy the musicianship there. Great reaction by the way! I really enjoyed it.
Great reaction! So much more than "this is so good!" and "I love it!". You clearly get Floyd's vibe and coupled with honest commentary, it makes for a fantastic reaction. Just subscribed. As an aside, people will suggest a tonne of songs from PULSE, and as it's probably the best concert recording of all time, I'd 1000% recommend you listen to studio versions first before you delve into live versions. Both should be reacted to, it's just best to hear the production and album intention with Pink Floyd before going to the live experience and spectacle. Someone synced the last 25 minutes of 2001: A Space Odyssey to Pink Floyd's Echoes and it's fantastic. If you're ready for a 23 minute prog epic, I suggest you do that soon. Aside from that, Comfortably Numb, Money (not the shorter radio edit), High Hopes, Sheep, and Hey You would be my suggestions for you, but these are just the tiny tip of the iceberg. Looking forward to watching your journey down the Floyd rabbit hole!
Visible or white light is made up of a range of colours each with a different wavelength. One way to see the different colours is to use a prism to split the light. When white light enters the prism it slows down and changes direction. The amount the light changes depends on the wavelength. Red light changes direction the least and violet the most. Google.
You say that you're music lover. We could recommend you some things, but it would be useful to know what kind of music you like, because music is vast. In no particular order & mixed genres, you could do: Lynyrd Skynyrd's free bird (live Oakland 1977), Metallica's master of puppets (Québec magnetic live--I chose this one because I was there for the whole show), ACDC's Thunderstruck (live River Plate 2009). try this for a start, and have a nice day. For this particular song (time), listen to it again in 5-10 years and think.
Hi, try out "Sabaton - Livstid I Krig" (A Lifetime of War) live version with subtitles. The English version is also very touching as an European in general. You better enjoy the full album "The Dark Side of the Moon" from the first song to the last! It's truly a masterpiece
You need to check out 2001 a space odyssey Pink Floyd echoes in sync on UA-cam. That would be an awesome reaction. Also if you’ve never heard of dark side of the moon with wizard of Oz.
You were not off base with your comment on the Reggae vibe. I don’t think they modeled anything after Reggae necessarily, but anyway there is an album called Dub Side of the Moon that is these songs done with a Reggae vibe. This is and always will be my favorite Floyd song.
Seriously? He said "it has hints of "Reggaeton"?! You couldn't say any other genre that existed when that song was performed? You know, like the genre reggaeton is ripping off of... ? Lol... yeah, Pink Floyd has hints of Reggaeton ... sure... ok.... let's call it that way...
I cannot get anyone to react to this!! ua-cam.com/video/0QLWa7939K0/v-deo.htmlsi=5gmYKAYDJva2g3DF It’s Pink Floyd wish you were here Dedicated to all of our extinct animals! Very very cool Kinda sad.. but epic
I am always in cry mode when I hear this song because we are on a linear time line we all are prisoners to it but outside time and space is God the Creator of the Universe and mankind with the aliens known as angels and demons. We were created for worship worship what, the creator of worship. God is worthy of worship. Floyd captures the urgency of time - the importance of time. Genesis 3:16 God (singular) said make man in Our (Plural) Image. God always stretched out the expanse of space and Time that He alone controls. Deep as you want to go but He loves us so much despite our flawed imperfect nature a perfect Good God had a great plan as men sinned God provided a way of restitution reunification as it says in Genesis after the sin the Son bruised His heal on the Sepert the devil's head. Jesus The Son of The Most high God did that at the Cross calvary Hill or as the Romans called it galgutha the place of the skull. We must die at the place of the skull and renew our minds in Christ Jesus to live in everlasting peace Joy Happiness forever or like the world says it's spiraling downward into a chaotic universe known as Hell. In the begining there was the Word let there be light and so it was and the Word became Flesh and walked among us but the world didn't recognize Him the hid in the dark because they were afraid of the light. Those who preserver in Christ until the end will be saved . Saved from what you say. The judgement that's soon coming up on us all. Know Jesus and live forever No Jesus and and due a horrible spiritual death absent love happening and Joy. Time is short what say you???? 😊
I’ve listened to this song my whole life. There is so much jammed into 7 minutes.

And the older you get...the more relevant and hard hitting the lyrics become.
I would suggest you re-listen to this song on your own, and read the lyrics as you go along. They'll hit home.
Or if you want "one instrument" to actually steal the show.... This track transitions directly into "The Great Gig in the Sky" with guest vocalist Clare Torry ❤
perfect reaction
If you’re not super familiar with PF, you will notice that they make incredibly interesting and unexpected sounds that really make their music so recognizable. The song Money is a great example of that. I hope you enjoy a full PF rabbit hole!
2001 was in 1968 when I was in high school.. I saw it about 3 times at the drive-in that Summer.
Relax and let the music happen
IMHO this is one of the two most perfectly composed/performed pieces pf music in existence.
The other one is theirs too....And it is #1 for me = That being "Shine on you Crazy Diamond parts 1-5
That was no choir, just a couple of very talented ladies.
Im a Wisconsinite, David Gilmore the Sharp Cheddar of guitar tones. Smooth,....Sharp,
....and creamy.
If you are discovering Pink Floyd, give a listen to, "Sorrow"
added to my list :) thanks mark
Most Pink Floyd songs blend into each other.
They do the question and answer too with 2 different lead vocalists. David Gilmour starts the song Richard Wright, sings the 2nd verse with harmonizing behind him, they do that again after the guitar solo then at the end.
Thanks for clarifying that!
This guy looks like someone who would know George Orwell's Animal Farm, which is of course what Animals is about, and might appeciate that.
David Bowie “space oddity” is a masterpiece as well.
4/20+ is coming.😁😎
You caught on immediately.
2nd video-I really like what I’m hearing here🧐
Listen to Time again together with The Great Gig In The Sky, then when you finally return to earth, listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond.....that is a trip no one has ever returned from.
If you wish to truly witness their musicianship you should check out Echoes live in Pompeii.
Gotta get a reaction to the entire Shine on you crazy diamond, parts 1-9. It will blow your mind!
Try Shine on you crazy diamond by Pink Floyd. You will love it.
Dave Mathews Band - The Dreaming Tree
And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
Great reaction.. I used to just sit back, get high and absorb the music during their concerts. Wish you could have experienced it.
The final verse is known as the breathe reprise..my favorite..its used also at the end of this song and the long version of breathe in the air.
Then you should watch the documentary by the band, on the making of:

And last, Pink Floyd had a stage/light show that was as wondrous as their music so you must see a live performance or several. Try these:

You are exactly right. That solo transports me back to March 6 1973 I was dumbstruck by David's skill
U r in 2001...lol luv floyd..they always take u somewhere else in the universe
There's a UA-cam of the end of 2001 A Space Odyssey put to Pink Floyd "Echoes"
It's pretty trippy!
Or
You might also enjoy
Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972
No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics just Gods playing to the Gods
A little song about all life on the entire planet and how we should be better human beings
With a great dollop of Dave Gilmour getting funky af
You should definitely learn this solo. Dave's slow bends and over bends are second to none. The 1and 1/2 tone bend is a bit of a signature and his clean sound...
Great observations in your reaction. Please check out the LIVE version of TIME at the PULSE CONCERT (1994).
Can’t believe I just commented on a reaction from 7years ago 😂😂
make sure you check out the 1994 Pulse concert. it is a mind blowing experience, even online
Hammond organ, moog synthetic and Strats for david
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Pink Floyd's "Shine on you Crazy Diamond". I feel like you'd really enjoy the musicianship there. Great reaction by the way! I really enjoyed it.
BandMaid "Non fiction days"
You paused it during the solo! That's ballsy.
Agreed. Many people do it in two reactions; side 1 then 2.
Would love to see your reaction to Comfortably Numb. I would highly recommend the album version first and then the Live Pulse video.
I forgive you for that solo pause...just this once 😂 great reaction tho ❤
I'm looking forward to when you do (and you will) 'Us And Them' from the same album, Dick Parry on Sax is just so....
There is no tonal resolution at the end of this song. Time goes on...
You need to check out 2001 a space odyssey Pink Floyd echoes in sync on UA-cam. That would be an awesome reaction. Also if you’ve never heard of dark side of the moon with wizard of Oz.
Money
You were not off base with your comment on the Reggae vibe. I don’t think they modeled anything after Reggae necessarily, but anyway there is an album called Dub Side of the Moon that is these songs done with a Reggae vibe. This is and always will be my favorite Floyd song.
But still... please react to more Floyd!
Dogs!!! Or Shine on you Crazy Diamond parts 1-5
I hope this was louder in your headphones than it was here. In this video, your talking is louder than the song.
You actually paused in the middle of the greatest guitar solo in rock history? Show some respect for the artist.
You need a bit of iron maiden in your life hallowed be thy name is a good start
Bro wouldn't stop yapping but said nothing about Roger's LYRICS!!!!!
Why is the volume so low?
I cannot get anyone to react to this!!
ua-cam.com/video/0QLWa7939K0/v-deo.htmlsi=5gmYKAYDJva2g3DF
It’s Pink Floyd wish you were here
Dedicated to all of our extinct animals!
Very very cool
Kinda sad.. but epic
I think you meant to say reggae not regeatton. They are universes apart and reggae is way wayyyyyy far ahead
Can ya listen to the song pay attention to the lyrics. It helps to understand the song. Reaction is both seems like your only hearing the music 🎶
😊
You don't RUSH the Floyd...
Do yourself a favour and listen to the song again WITH the lyrics. PS...also NEVER pause a David Gilmour solo...EVER.
I think the term is : you talk too much
This is suppose to be a reaction NOT a commentary 😡
I swear to God, there's nothing worse than reactors who stop during the guitar solo. It makes there reactions unwatchable. Bye.
I could tell you don't have the patience for that 2 minute intro😂😂😂😂 embarrassing
THATS NOT REGGAETON😂 BRO DOESN'T KNOW MUSIC.
Man talking too much
