Hard to know that lines in 10 years of his music. and other one is starboy and low life but OG fans knows that song is.
everyone knows this take already
@@xodanny2955 not quite everyone. Somewhere, someone is discovering Abel just like she is, and they may have read this message here
@@brianattyberry don't worry g the song is ivory search for it 👍🏽
@@andres_lopez_0 I know the song. I'm just saying new fans are made every day. They're going to discover those lines just like we did if they listen as we did.

Eyo my dear melancholy
@@arsimdreshaj9837 MDM is after Starboy
@@DakMan3 true
MDM might make her hella sad. Not cry but sad af
@@iamthefuture4275 nah man I cried she better cry lmao
Her face when she reads Often lyrics: 👁️👄👁️
Weeknd had Often, The Hills, In the Night, Can’t feel my face, and Earned it all on the same album.
He dominated 2015
And in 2020 he had Heartless, Blinding Lights, After Hours, Save your Tears and more :)) maybe he dominated this year too
@@zzromicazzplayz3378 maybe??? Dude has the biggest single of all time now lol
@@reece5007 yeah
What about starboy ?
@@tr3xbaybay724 that was 2016 same thing tho. Abel dominates whenever he drops 😅

yessss
losers was my favourite song on first listen but now its not even top 10 for me on the album lol idk why
TRUE
this album is dark but funky at the same time.
Can’t wait for “my dear melancholy “!

@THY PARADIGMS nah honestly its more poppy than this one. Starboy the song is great and so is die for you but not much else🤷♂️
@@aidankehoe1 I think they meant that Starboy came before MDM
Unpopular opinion: This is my favorite Weeknd album.
1. House of ballons
2. Beuty behind the madness
3. After hours
@@catsouplover7745 House of Balloons is a mixtape though, so I didn’t count that. Still a valid list.
same here! album wise (not counting trilogy)
1. BBTM
2. MDM (mini-album)
3. After Hours
4. Kiss Land
5. Starboy

Angels is such an underated song. It's like riding a wave in the middle of the ocean. It takes you on a journey and envelops you in complete unique soundscape. It's suuuuch a masterpiece
“This is how The Weeknd writes a song when he’s in love” I can’t wait until you do “My Dear Melancholy, “
This album is full of nothing but hits.
I mean it’s not like his other albums aren’t just banger after banger. The only major exception is probably Starboy.
@@konradhomiak3700 nah even starboy is back to back hits maybe besides stargirl
@Broken Glass it’s been a while since I’ve heard it, so maybe I’ll go re listen
@@E.T.M.O. nah, its probably his weakest album
Ur true af
This album was really a departure from his underground dark sound and a intro into his more mainstream pop influenced music
Tbh tho weekend music isn't exactly super mainstream sound wise he just gets alot a radio play and bbtm is where he meshes his slow dark style with some more up beat songs and tempos to form a really good album hwck the hills is basically high for this but a little more up.beat
@@chillspot331 at the same time bbtm and starboy were made to appeal to the masses especially after his frustration with his critically acclaimed kiss land which had less success commercially
@@Izzy-et9cl but it's still rooted in his original sound so it's not like he really betrays himself and what doesn't sound the same sonically he still has the same content
@@chillspot331 my point is these albums were radio friendly and he played it safe compared to his older stuff or even after hours and bbtm was a pivotal point in his career with more “appealing” music and to gain popularity
@@Izzy-et9cl I love how when you're The Weeknd, making a pop single about doing coke is playing it safe lol
Angel is my favorite off of this album and Abel said that Angel was his favorite track off of this album too
Fun Fact : The Weeknd recorded 67 different versions of The Hills
Very trash that I only know 4
@@bbtmorales7331 no there aren’t any demos of the hills there, so we know only the original one ☝️
Source "trust me bro"
@@zakariachaaraoui3869 Google it buddy
@@bbtmorales7331 where can I hear these other versions?
When you're caught up you should do a re-listen to Afterhours. His musical growth is really impressive and there are a lot of references that will be more meaningful when you've completed the journey.
I and the XO community/family approve of this message
I'm lowkey excited that you're gonna be ending on My Dear Melancholy. It's just an EP, but I think it's really considered his "breakup" album. A lot of sad and dark material. I love it, and I think you'll enjoy it a lot as well!
There hasn’t been a single Weeknd song I haven’t loved. His ability to explore different sounds and how he apples his voice to them is what makes him an amazing artist and after hours really has my heart rn 😂😂 it’s what got me through 2020
Yea frr I love all his songs
THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO HAS WATCHED AND SUBSCRIBED 👏👏 I just hit 8k subs and thought this was a perfect video to post to thank you for the support. I hope you enjoy 😊
Shelby! Their is a album or really mixtape I should say called " THE NOISE UNRELEASED " this came out even before any the trilogy mixtapes. I think you should give it a listen. It is on sound cloud so I don't know how you listen to the music so idk if that will affect the way you record it. On sound cloud is where all the songs are in order not anywhere else that I know of.
Thanks to you! Keep up the good stuff, you seem like a really smart and charismatic person, cant wait to see more from you
In the night is an underrated song. Amazing lyrics and a great sound.
The best part of shameless is the last part where he whispers “Girl I have no… no shame…”
This album is how I became a fan of The Weeknd. "The Hills" basically started my love for dark R&B music & "Can't Feel My Face" was the very first Weeknd song I ever heard.
Fun fact - "Tell Your Friends" was produced by Kanye West.
Thank you for your reactions as always, Shelby! 💚 *XOTWOD* 😎
Exact same here. I had heard and known of the weeknd since about 2013, but this album is what really got me into his shit and this type of sound in r&b
THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER!!!
I literally live again this album with you,''I feel the rush and its amazing'' as always.
This album wasnt so theatrically because is the actually BEAUTY behind the madness(which was trilogy and kissland),cant wait to see your reaction on starboy when he embraces a new style again. In my opinion the best songs on this album are Aquainted,Real life and As you are which are underrated if you ask me. again amazing reaction I loved it.
Fun Fact: All of “Can’t Feel My Face” is a double entendre. On one “side” of the lyrics, Abel’s obviously singing about a girl but, on the other “side” of the lyrics, he’s singing about cocaine. In other words, Abel basically disguised an entire song about cocaine as your regular old love song and the vast majority of the world never realized it. Genius.
I mean, Abel didnt start that, it has been done since forever, but sure, still a great song.
And on 'Reminder' references winning a Kids Choice Award for a song about a bag of blow
@@RSilva-ku3dn I realize that but I’m just commemorating him for pulling it off on such a huge scale. Even though I don’t listen to it much, I agree with you- it’s a great song.
@@djswany85 Damn. I never even drew that connection. Great call
Vast majority of the world? Lmao
I'm slowly starting to love your channel
I love your reactions😭 they bring me back to when I first listened to these albums
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I felt like I was experiencing listening to it for the first time once again!! Made my day thank youuu
That one person who disliked this video is the Grammy Awards
Great reaction Shelby! Little fun fact, the vocoder voice 'breakdown' you hear around 8:13 is actually Kanye and you can hear the same technique used during the breakdown at the end of Runaway on MBDTF 😁
HOWWW did I miss that because I love that Kanye album!
@@ShelbyShuffleMode this song was originally from kanye and he gave it to the weekend, so he is credited as a producer. You can find the original demo on the internet, it was leaked along with all Yandhi's songs
Always making my day better Shelby 🤩🖤
My favorites are ranked:
1) All of Trilogy
2) After Hours
3) Kissland (almost a tie with After Hours for me)
4) My Dear Melancholy (although just an EP, so good)
5) BBTM (most people will put this over MDM, and I totally see that, just love the story he tells in only 6 songs)
6) Starboy (even though this is a great album and one of his most popular amongst the newer audience, I just prefer his darker side of music).
These are all great records, but the sound varies quite a bit throughout each one, and I love that he experiments like that with his music. Always thinking of new ways to reinvent himself!
I got the exact same order but BBTM>MDM
same list for me but switch 2 and 3
Switch kissland with after hours and switch BBTM with starboy. That's how my list will look
After hours would be last place on my list, other than that everything else is spot on
@@indicaking oh hell naw
I was waiting for this!!!!!
Amazing Content as always Shelby. I’m enjoying you discovering Abel through the years. ❌⭕️ til we overdose 🔥🔥
Just discovered this channel. Reminded me of when I first listened to the album four years ago. I fûckin love the album
Fun fact, the end of Acquainted was sampled from an unreleased song called “Girls born in the 90s” you should check that song out, it is really really good!
I honestly think Real Life is one of his best songs of all time. Crazy how underrated it is
It’s funny u said that about Can’t feel my face because The Hills is actually the biggest song on the album it had more weeks on Billboard #1 spot and went diamond
In the night is one that hits so feelingly
As an OG fan I can tell that this album was a grower for most of his old fans and it gain much more praise after "Starboy" album - people have realized that BBTM is still super dark The Weeknd but covered in mainstream appeal and beats. Lyrics are super dark especially "In The Night" which was called at the beginning like a pure pop, sold-out song while it's one of the saddest song on the album if you listen to what he says. Many people don't pay any attention to the lyrics in general so I was not surprised.
I enjoy artist who grow and change their style very organically and they are true to themselves and The Weeknd mastered the craft of changing up the style and still being himself. During Trilogy days he said that he wanted to be the next MJ, he recorded "Rolling Stone" to warn his fans that the change is coming. Every era was executed almost perfectly. I have some negative words towards "Starboy" album and beats selection on "My Dear Melancholy EP" especially after hearing demo versions of songs on this project.
Hence the line “I don’t think you understand”
I think this album was more experimental for him. After Kiss Land he wanted to branch out more into mainstream and he even took a year off to focus on what he was going to do next.
Yesss ive been wanting this video to come out😭😭😭 video was amazing , I love how u analyze everything but like not in an annoying way if that makes sense. This channel is so underrated . Also ur v beautiful!
Most awaited video of the century is here🤩😍😘🧡💛
Shameless live was phenomenal. The guitar solo lives in my head rent free.
The Weeknd really created a masterpiece
You should 100% re listen to After Hours Again with all the info you learn from the discography, it’s so much better when u hear it knowing his past
Let’s goooo! The moment has come! I always love your reactions! Keep the great content coming!
XOTWOD
Loved the reaction and your honest review. Also this album was ranked in one of the top 500 albums of all time by The rolling stone.
I've been waitng for this one!!!!
Lets go.Finally can't wait for my dear melancholy❤👀
Fun Fact: Kanye West Produced "Tell Your Friends" . And the distorted vocals near the middle of the song is his voice. This song was originally Kanye's and was meant to go on his now scrapped album "So Help Me God" which eventually turned into his 2016 album "The Life Of Pablo".
This album is truely a masterpiece ❤❤ love your reaction ❤❤
Glad you liked Shameless! One of his more underrated ones!
Liked before I watched it. Love your reactions!
Yayyyy I’m so happy you reacted to this! ✊🏼 hopefully you’ll react to Starboy next 🤞🏼
I love BBTM! This is the album that got me hooked on The Weeknd's music. This album is very pivotal in his career because it is the beginning of his superstardom. It is evident that he was trying to expand his audience and grow as an artist, pushing his talents to different heights.
I think you should listen to his single King Of The Fall. The single was released before he dropped his first single for this album back in 2014. It falls in this era of The Weeknd's music.
Love ur reactions!!
2021 y sigue sonando este pedazo de arte de álbum!
Love the reviews btw!
I need my dark melancholy and i need it now!! Great vids btw
Your channel is amazing
Happy 2021, It's an honor to be here again
So I’ve listened to The Weeknd since House of Balloons. He released his three mixtapes back to back to back. What’s crazy is that after he released the third mixtape he mixed and mastered which would ultimately come together as Trilogy. The original versions of each song on that album sounded pretty different than the studio version we get from Trilogy.
It would be very difficult to rank his albums because each album has a different vibe and each release I feel has connected me differently track from track.
Kiss Land will always be my foreigner album. If you didn’t know the album was heavily influenced by Japan and that’s where the sound took a bit of a oriental direction of that makes sense.
I’ll always love this album because like you mentioned, this was his mainstream debut. It wasn’t his first album but it was his first album to produce 2 number ones and a few other top ones. The Hills, I can’t feel my face being number ones and In the Night & Often as top 10 tracks.
Starboy was something magical. He managed to spit out single after single. His music definitely had the attention of new fans base and he still managed to keep his dark tone.
Personally I’d rank his trilogy number one and then hand select his songs individually from each album.
Yessss😁😁 i been waitin 4 dis
Can’t wait for my dear melancholy and starboy they’re SO good
Another great review, at this point you’ve paid your dues and can just refer to him by his name.
My top 4
1.As you are
2.Angel
3.Shameless
4.In the night
Enjoyed your Weeknd reactions! support from Malaysia
29:58 great moment! U gonna get a lot of subs girl🧡
The album is so lovey because he was falling in love with Bella Hadid at this time🥺🥺🥺 like angel, as you are, shameless, etc are all about her
A very long wait but totally worth it!!!!!!!
I swear, The Weeknds like a one man choir in his music lol the ammount of sounds and styles he can come up with is limitless!
The best smile in youtube
just started getting into him over my quarantined christmas .... hes incredible
I am watching all ur Weeknd reactions on The weeknd's birthday ✨♥️
I always liked the name of this album " Beauty behind the madness " I mean come on.
This album is one of the masterpieces of the century no cap
Please please please don’t skip My Dear Melancholy. Probably one of my favorite, or my favorite. It really depends on the day/mood lol. Love your take on these albums, it’s fun watching people get to experience the feelings us fans had when we heard it for the first time but you having a background in music makes it so much more enjoyable! Thanks for the hard work :)
Best description for this album: HITS after HITS after HITS
Hahaha OdenZ TV said the same thing 🤣 he was jumping out his skin for this album 🤣
The guitar solo on Shameless tho🔥🔥
you’re going to love starboy
9:29 the realization LMAO
Also, just a suggestion, could you react to some of the Weeknd's singles and features in one video? I'd love to see some reactions of those gems. For example, nomads, enemy, trust issues, king of the fall, pray for me, lost in the fire, drunk in Love, etc.
Nomads!!! Wtf happened to Ricky Hil?
@@djswany85 Ikr, I loved that song, he really helped make one of the most underrated Weeknd features
yessss this is lit!!! i needed this lol
“continuous flow” your right. He said in a interview that KISSLAND was a extension of trilogy, but in a different universe
The girl you’re hearing on angel in the background and with the one small line is actually Maty Noyes, me and I assume many others thought it was just Lana Del Rey when first listening and even to this day I’m not sure if it’s well known but she has an amazing voice.
What Kanye did on Tell Your Friends is fucking gorgeous man. The loop is just so simple and striking.
Still waiting for the train of thought on the hills.
The train left the station and never returned 😂
Oh this about to be a GOOD one lol
My favorites are Real Life Acquainted and The Hills. I listened to the Hills a lot in a very tumultuous time in my life and that song takes me emotionally every time. Starboy is my favorite album tho!
lets go!!!!!!!!
My favorite album is Trilogy. I love the moody, dark lyrics, and music that are on all three mix tapes. It is the most unique piece of music I've ever heard and I love it for that. I kinda love all of his other albums equally, and favor them depending on my mood.
Great Reaction/Review. Starboy awaits!!
Can't wait for reactions to Starboy and My Dear Melancholy
I love this reaction fr
Been one of my fave artists since 2011 def one of the best artist of the generation.
I always go back to Tell Your Friends in the album
My rankings
1. Trilogy
2. Kiss land
3. After hours
4. Beauty behind the madness
5. My dear melancholy,
6. Starboy
My top 3 tracks off BBTM

2. Acquainted
3. In the night
"So this is how The Weeknd writes a song about falling in love"... Girl wait till you listen to die for you
He says in Kiss Land that "this is nothing to relate to even if you try" so no wonder you can't relate to the earlier music
real life is the perfect intro and angel is the perfect outro, and everything in between are hits
YES 🙌🏾 XOTWOD 🖤🖤
