That… was a very informative video. Wow, this guy really paints a word picture when he is explaining his art. I’m new to bonsai and my little guy is definitely gonna look rad because of this video. Many thanks for putting this together!
I’m so happy to see that you are producing new technical content! I watch your old videos over and over because there is so much packed into those old videos, and I pick up something new every time I see it! I can absolutely see UA-cam being a financially rewarding venture for you as you produce more content and pick up more subscribers. You not only have an incredible amount of bonsai and horticultural knowledge, but you also know how to convey that complicated information in an engaging and easy-to-understand way! Your love and enthusiasm for bonsai and knowledge is invigorating!!!!
I am impressed with the contrast of the deadwood & the living bark... Great contrast - it adds depth & interest to the piece it actually looks like two trees intertwined.... Thank you for your artistry & explanations. Great teaching
I am a novice in bonsai technique and I can say that this video is educational and with a lot of technicality in all aspects that even made me feel like in a classroom Thank you for sharing.
The timing of this video is perfect for me. I have a Sargent Juniper that I've been growing from nursery stock for four or five years, and I've been planning to start styling it this year. I had been unsure about what directions I would take with it, but since it looks very similar to the specimen in the video, I now have a lot more ideas and confidence to move ahead. Thank you!
You know this guy after his video on tv I didn’t really like him but as time goes on I am really appreciating him because besides herons bonsai there isn’t much I go this detailed
Nicely done. Ryan I've been learning so much from you these past few years. My yamadori sagebrush in my icon would of killed over a long time ago if wasn't for you teaching me the skills I needed to better understand how to properly care for it. It's four years old and continues to thrive in my care for that I can't thank you enough.
@@BonsaiMirai yep I got a mechanics tool chest full of bonsai tools and power equipment for anything. To me bonsai isn't just a hobby that I just picked up but a way of life. I always look forward to seeing your next video.
Ryan, it'd be very useful to say in each video what date/month/season it is when you perform the work, since the video posting date may not match leaving us guessing when we should apply the concepts to our trees. Thank you for all your videos, I've learned a ton.
Maestro Ryan gracias por compartir tu arte , ya en este video hay la opción de la traducción automática, ahora si podremos disfrutar de este don que Dios te dio, de nuevo, gracias por compartirlo.

I have watch some of your videos. Very informative. Some i learned i share it to on my channel .. More power to you😊😊😊. Good greetings from the Philippines
Ryan, I love your videos (I'm a subscriber on Bonsai Mirai, which is awesome!). I still can't wrap my head around how you can do that much work on a juniper in one shot and have it live. I understand that this was an already healthy juniper, but seriously what's your secret?! (Wizard?) I've been sticking to one thing at a time either repot or pruning or wiring or deadwood, and yet I still have a few that still don't make it. Is there a special after care regimen?
I loved this video very much. I feel like I've learned so many tips for styling and wiring techniques. I just got a quick question: What is when you refer to positive and negative spaces?
Just like in art... Positive spaces are areas occupied by a shape or form. Negative spaces are the areas in between and around those positive spaces. They can help draw attention to features an artist considers important.... Hope this helps you?
I really enjoy your videos they are so informative and you make them easy to understand no matter what level/experience you may have thank you for sharing. Being fairly new to the art of Bonsai, my question is when would you remove the wiring? I would think that those tertiary branches would defiinatley thicken/grow over the growing season, so do I need to keep an eye on them as not to let the wire cut into branch(s)?
Hey Ryan awesome work buddy learned new stuff from you on this video like always. I just have a quick question, removing a significant amount of the foliage on this type of juniper doesn't affect the tree? Won't make it weak or kill it?
You are very talented I have watched one to many of your videos you spend to much time talking I believe people learn more from viewing not so much audio. I appreciate your talent✌️
I see your not trying to insult the guy, but you clearly don’t understand how the theory side of bonsai is the most important part. You can’t demonstrate horticultural theory without language.
Hi Ryan! I just had a quick question for you, I’ve always heard you should never remove more than 30% of a junipers foliage at any given time. Is this true all of the time?
it was a very healthy tree to begin with, as seen by the massive foliage on that tree even when growing in that small pot.. the care (quality of soil and ferts) applied on that tree the years prior this work has ensured a higher survivability..
No. 1 step should be: Start with absolutely outrageous stock like this
Yeah hard to go wrong with a beauty like that.
I want to give credit to the videographer / editor who did a great job following the process.... Thank you. Well done
One more time. I would like to say thank you. You are a true bonsai teacher. You are a great professor and a true master. THANK YOU SO MUCH
This is creation in its purest form, i can watch this several times and still get valuable insight, you are truly a master of the art of bonsai,

After you dug up the pine tree that you wired in the Intro of this video, how did you wrap it for transport to St. Helens, Oregon?

I would definitely follow that rule unless you have a specially designed tree like this that was both made for bonsai as well as being super healthy.
where did you get this specimen? is it field-grown? nursery stock?
