    Whoever thought a dryer venting through the roof was a good idea should be the one who cleans it. I have one those and routinely clean it bimonthly. There’s no easy way to keep critters out of it without that screen.

      They make same vent with spring flapper. Installing one with screen is wrong. Sometimes you gotta put them through roof. Try to avoid. Same with wall vents tho. Gotta remove the screens for dryers.

    Hardware Cloth was a Dumb Idea over the Vent. It might keep Birds Out of Vent Pipe but it’s Not going to Stop Wasps and/or Lint Jamming Up the Vent Pipe. 🤔👍

    Dryer vents shouldn't have screens, wall mounted exhausts only have louvers, love it when exhausts are placed right behind a condenser

  • @TheOnespeedbiker
    @TheOnespeedbiker 6 днів тому +2

    Someone really needs to service that dryer. When the vent is plugged and the dryer runs, the exhaust and lint needs to go somewhere, so it will vent into the dryer interior, coating the inside and encroaching on the burner (this will happen to some extent even if the vent is kept clear and is the primary cause of heating element failure). The end result is it can burn up the heating element or worse cause a fire.

    As a HVAC industrial TECHNICIAN I can confirm the (ventilation) is the most neglected phase of our training. The primary training concentrates 1 air conditioning/chillers 2 heating 3 electrical 4 controls and at a distant 5 air flow/ventalation “dirty part of the job. Ventilation usually gets neglected or farmed out to people NOT IN THE HVAC trade

    Nice job, I am not a fan of roof vents for dryers. I know at times it is unavoidable. When you have them, they need to be on a schedule to be cleaned every 3 to 6 months, IMO. Even normal style vents need to be cleaned now and then. Many fires start because of it.

    • @ZeroZeroOneZero
      @ZeroZeroOneZero 6 днів тому +3

      It's against code here in Florida now, for this very reason. All dryer vents are required to be completely open with no obstructions. It's one of the top causes of house fires, especially with people that put cloths in the dryer and leave for the store/work/etc. They're not the sharpest spoons.
      Also, most people don't even know this is a thing, but be sure to clean your dryer's heating elements yearly. Just look for a small panel on the back of the machine, should only be a few screws, open it up and clear any lint out. Careful not to damage the elements. And make sure the machine is unplugged obviously.

      Correct also Frigidaire. Dryers should NEVER be vented like that. Our company is in hvac and appliance repair. So we see a lot of this. Many houses have caught fire because of this STUPID venting. The customers have no idea what this does. What are you in the North with snow or in the South with high humidity. The lint is going to get trapped in the vent. Then you have to think about moisture running back down that vent into the dryer. Customers should have the option to sue contractors for unsafe construction.
