    Nice performance. It is nice to see youngsters taking to carnatic music. The entire orchestra is a novel idea. With little more SAADHNA they can scale very high. Very novel and nice program. We should encourage such young and talented musicians.

    You can complain all you want but look at the number of listeners for this video. Proof is in the pudding.

    Original song had devotion..and love for the divine.
    Im searching for it in this song. IF anyone found it, pls let me know

      Depends on your sense of devotion. Some say its in hymns, some in songs. We can easily find the devotion, Your ability to find divinity is Lord;s gift if we are not able to find it , it is our ignorance, not the creator's mistake.

    i am not against karthik, but his attempt is appreciating...but none of his classical songs had the feel in it...just people bow there head because of his establishment in field of music... feel so sad things are changing in wrong way and hope indian classical music will be lost in few years!

  • @Waterzcool

    Though I am not a critic of blending two different traditions of music and it is pleasant listening.. what is really saddening is the SOUL of Sri Thyagaraja pleading to Lord Rama through this song is completely lost in our need to blend!! Encourage to write your own lyrics and fusion the music the way you want.. but leave the great composers lyrics who have ENLIGHTENED our spirits and invoked LORD RAMA through such soulful kritis.. For Lord Rama's sake.. please STOP this conFUSION. Pranams!!

    • @enrichingexchanges
      @enrichingexchanges 10 років тому +1

      Absolutely right! The singing is not bad per se, but the arrangement is horrible! The bass lines are totally off-base! The drum pattern does violence to the spirit of the song. Either the flute or the key-boards are off-tune. The bassist has no clue what to do.....looks like he is desperate to do something with the time that has landed on his lap. I just finished commenting how good their "aasai mugam marandhu pochche" only to find this travesty.
      To all those who say "so many people like therefore it should be good" is like telling that there is a market for illicit drugs, therefore, it must be good! Good music should elevate and soften the mind. This looks like a masala dosa being offered as prasadam.

    Having heard many versions definitely better than Yesudas , however while improvising with other instruments, should have drifted from the traditional song, still feel nothing like the Nadaswaram , Tavil combination you hear during marriage, those proffessionals do much better

    The use of drum and 'bee sound' kind of instruments should have been avoided. It spoils divinity.

    Saint tyagaraja's compositions are soulful, When hearing the same composition in Balamurali's voice was soooo divine... this seems to be like light music... a very bland rendition. The emotion and feel is missing. It seems like he is singing in a wedding reception rather than a carnatic concert. Innovation is good, but in the name of innovation killing the original jeevan of a composition is not appreciable. and the singer himself is distracting us from unflavored gestures.

    there are lot of new singers and musicians are forming in TAMIL NADU, most of them trying something new and spoilling the the whole carnatic music, please give respect to your own carnatic music, don't mix all carnatic music uising with western instruments into it,, world is changing but you people never change....every country have their own music, but your Tamil nadu copy western, arab music and mix into carnatic why? don't try it respect your own carnatic and hinduistan music it's enough for all

      The violin and the harmonium are Western in origin, but we use them in our music, just as we use the mandolin, mouth organ and so on. Just as we all use any number of Western equipment in our daily lives, including the recording instruments this video was recorded on. Stop being so backward looking. God is not interested in how you were dressed when you died, but in how you lived your life,

      Most of the songs (all) of Tyagaraja's kirtis were composed in Tamil Nadu, a fertile ground for classical music. Even today we have only few guy in Tanjavoor who can make Veena... It will soon fade away as we don't buy them enough and patronize them... Lalgudi Jayaraman and Kunnakkudi Vaidyanathan made violin a popular Carnatic accompaniment.. Adapt to change or perish..

    Below avg level of singing and backing .....swara singing too ....the real fragrance of abheri comes only when it ornamented with its own unique gamkas..for understanding that need lot of good listening and practice....plz dont try to mix hindustani in this beautiful composition or if u want to fuse it do it without insulting the tradition of both system and raga bhavam..sorry to say.
