- FAS (Federal Assault Ship) vs FDL (Fer-De-Lance), which one is better fighter / combat ship? This is not a PvP, just comparison on which ship is better suitable.
Watch the video to learn more, cuz there's no clear winner, it highly depends what you need it for. If you do fighting in one system, then FDL wins i guess, but FDL has almost no cargo space and very bad jump range, while FAS can carry more cargo, has better hull and jump range is almost twice as good as FDL, but lacks firepower and shields.
Those are definetely the 2 best fighters in the game as of now. FGS (Federal Gunship) is also good, specially after the Guardians update FGS can now carry a fighter hanger which makes it more deadly, but FGS has really bad manouverbility and lacks firepower against big ships.
Vulture is also good, but it wouldn't stand up to FAS, FDL or FGS. Vulture has the best manouverbility, but lacks firepower, shields and power.

FDL can have military bulk heads, you just must have been at a dock which does not sell the FDL when you went into outfitting 👍
why have 4 pulse lasers and a huge incendiary multi?? i don't see the point in making it incendiary, the pulse lasers will take the shields down pretty quickly on their own then you just shred them with the huge with corrosive rounds, much better i think

MrFlupsy I run mine with a big chin beam laser, and 4 multi... although.. I do feel like my vulture his the bigger built with 1 beam and 1 multi. But the vulture is really good at out positioning... much better than the FDL I feel. So sniping power plants is much easier in the vulture. =/
Cool video! Nice to see a fas in combat. I have a FDL too and have a build u should try. Equipp 4 gimbeld multicanons and 1 gimbeld huge beam laser. Dont push the hull I rather to push the shilds by 4 shild booster A and of cause use a plasma shild. This should work when u upgrate ur powerplant capacity before. Those hull reinforcement packetes really weight to much for fsd.

hmm what the reason for going for havy duty shield booster? i go for resistence. got 70% on kinetic and detonation and 60% on thermal with 2300MJ in my corvette. the never break down also not if i have 3 or 4 against me
There are two things that ignore resistances: plasma accelerators and ramming.
On the other hand, high resistance shields have the advantage that they charge faster and shield cell banks are more effective
A prismatic shield on FAS ??? WTF ?? Prismatic is for big and slow ships. When you have a fast and maneuverable ship like FAS and vulture (FDL too) you must give them a bi weave shield generator with resistance augmented. And no, the FAS is not better than Fer de lance. And you don't use flight assist off/on during combat. son't say it's useless because at 12:30 you're not able to hold an imperial cutter on sight. with flight assist off, you wouldn't have lost the sight.
Two questions how did you find all those Imperial Cutters? i have been playing for 15 months and until I bought the Cutter myself I had never seen one in game. second question why were they not firing back at you? Cutters have like 7 hard points.

I have been in a conflict zone twice and I never saw any Cutters. I trade and Bounty hunt mostly and I never saw one doing that either, as I said the only one I have ever seen in game is the one I own myself.
Cutters and Corvettes only spawn in conflict zones .. and only twice? no wonder lol

The FGS lacks firepower against big ships? Not true. Bad maneuverability? Not true. It might be slow but it drifts way less than FDS and turns almost as good as the FAS.
surely to get a better result you should attack the same ship?
How did you get 1,750 on FDL shields. With the same generator and boosters I can only get ~1000
You sure you have same generator? I have prismatic shield generator, it's a lot more powerful than normal ones + good mod + all boosters are modded too.

I sold an FDL once to get an assault ship. Probably the best exchange I've made in the game.
I have used my fas to take everything but the vette. tough fast and while gun placement not the best everything falls and goes boom
well this is very old video, Mamba is far better than FDL and I think Krait MK2 is even better for combat, it can even take fighter hangar.
@@SethiozProject very well could be. I use a krait mk2 as my main ship for missions. The mamba looks great. , but I admit I not a big fan of rebuy so if I can I will use a ship with lower rebuy costs
fas shines more with multis across the bottom and a beam or burst up top.

No Bulkheads for FDL?....my brother just bought one and the Reinforced Cost 20 mill and Military cost 46 mill....you were just in the wrong station

FED ASS = Pirate waves
FDL = PVP or single target bounty hunting
FAS is good for PvP

the dropship and gunship are very, very bad for pvp. And the assault ship doesn’t work much anymore sadly

The FAS is super tanky, but for me you can't beat the FDL for the maneuverability and the huge hardpoint
You probably don't know how to fly? because FAS has far better maneuverability than FDL. If you get into a turning battle in between FAS and FDL, then FAS out maneuvers FDL easily, you have to keep the speed in the "sweet spot" to be able to turn as fast as possible.
The FDL is more than maneuverable enough to keep on anything if you use FA:Off smartly. The FAS is certainly more maneuverable but there's no ship an FDL can't turn on, realistically. The selling points for me over the FAS are the massive shield and the crazy burst damage you can get out of the Huge hardpoint. I strongly dislike the hardpoint placement on the FAS even though I feel like it would probably be a more consistent ship than the FDL if they were placed better. I've also noticed the FDL to take a lot more activity in terms of power managemen than any other ship I've flown so far. You'll never come around on anyone without pips to engines, but each pip makes such a huge difference that my FDL is almost as maneuverable as my Vulture when I divert all power to engines, FA off, then re-divert to weapons and shields once I get into my pitch.
blbelt2001 my guess is you didn't word yourself correctly here? I'm gonna take a stab at it and say you meant that whilst the fas is a great ship with really great tank armor (and I'm gonna guess you know it has better maneuverability than the fdl), but you meant that the fdl is still quite maneuverable and it's more than good enough, plus it has a a huge hard point. Am I relatively close?

+Zekester014 I guess he means Flight Assist, that's the only thing you'd be turning on/off during combat, but I don't find it being that useful tho. You can flip around and get the ship off your ass, but if your ship manouvers worse than other, he'll be on your ass again and again.
I'm presuming you fly with flight assist off?
