Everyone always asks why I only ride a Honda. Because my cbr1000s have never had issues with the abuse I put them through.

Can feel the frustration man, my buddy has a Ducati V4 and that thing has been nothing but trouble since, it’s a nice ass bike but man problem after problem there’s always something, right now he’s dealing with clutch issues with the hydraulic clutch it keeps slipping and Ducati doesn’t know why and they worked on it once and it keeps happening and they said we don’t know what to tell you 🤷♂️

The more performance the ride the more little problems it has. Ducati is all performance so these thing happen.

I was told "Don't tell others about your problems, 20% don't care and 80% are glad you have problems". But I care. Look at each part failure as an individual scientific event. The bikes a combination of parts, nothing more. Some have more soft spots than others but on new designs you are the durability tester. The design and production cycle on things like this seems to be so fast that they can't test it to death, they just make 'em and sell 'em.

I wish motorcycle shops were like automotive shops, able to repair same-day or next when parts are on hand.
Maybe a less exiting but more reliable Honda to bridge the gap? Big up to you man keep doing what your doing.

It’s all apart of owning bikes man, you know that more than anybody. I laugh at the comments saying get X bike and it won’t have problems. I’ve seen R1’s and CBR’s with only 12k miles with bad stators and other parts. No bike brand is 100% reliable.

The Ducati is sick and I really like the R1 but it sounds like you just need to join the Honda side. Even if you did have problems with the Honda somehow it surely wouldn't be 2 months for a water pump, that just sounds crazy. Anyway, best of luck 🤙

He had 2 Yamaha the first was his r6 that I think ran great even when he sold it. Then he got the r1 but part of the problem with the r1 was one of the repair shops dropped it witch caused internal damage. I was just trying to say any of those were way more reliable then the Ducati which seams to break every single time he tries to ride it 🙏🙂
That really sucks. Pay a premium for a high end bike and have these issues to deal with. I had a water pump seal leaking in my 22 ZX10 and the dealership was gonna be at least a month. I finally decided to do it myself to save the down time. I imagine the water pump on a Ducati is a little harder to get to though.
Sorry for your frustrations brother but you did buy an Italian bike. R1 issues aside, most Japanese bikes are trouble free.

Dude,, it is totally understandable to be irate.. The anguish, hassle and expense of factory defects coupled with the insurance and financing payments on a depreciating liability is plenty to be pissed over.
I choke at new bike prices. Normally the Japanese brands are extremely reliable so the R1 issue blows hard, but the Italians seem to always be both maintenance intensive AND unreliable with a nice kick in both the balls amd the wallet.
But WTF do I know,, I bought a used water cooled R1200 GSA and jumped back into Beemer heaven/hell with extra dork-chester sauce.

get you a m1000 or sell and get back on the r1 thats why I still ride my 05 r6 it is a tank and I could car less about the 185 everytime I ride but a basic gsxr will do that for half the price trade for a bmw or zx10rr that water pump will go again in a year btw it will leak worse when you shut it off no way would my bike be in the shop for 19 months wtf
That's reason I'd never buy a duc...it's always something with them...very high maintenance bikes

I'm not knocking the Duc....it's a track weapon...not really for street....so naturally it'll need lot more parts and maintenance.
I'd love to ride one but don't know anyone who has one....and I'm sure they fun to ride just too high maintenance for me

If you got the money for a Ducati go for it. Great race bikes, but at an expensive cost when ridden hard. Better options are the R1, BMW, and KAWI. Less headaches and you can still keep your wallet. If that's too much a proper R6 will make you feel just as happy at 1/3 the cost. Play time on Ducati and Apes last a few days then in the shops for month's on end. My friend's V2 has been in n out of the shop for 1 year now. Seen another friend's ape (2020) with 800 miles and was leaking at the track. If you buy a Ducati make sure you got money to buy two basically. Sorry to hear, hopefully they get her back soon.
This bike hasn't been that bad in itself, but combined with the r1 and everything, it's been quite a lot overall

The amount of money you've dropped on repairs alone along with the upcoming downtime and loss of content, is it time to let the Duc go or just wing it for now?
It sucks the Duc is down. Have you been on the BMW RR? They're a bit smoother than the Duc and the Ducs require a lot of maintenance. My buddy just got the M version of the RR all carbon and it's just sick and those engines are bulletproof. The R1 should be too though! I mean, that M version is like 226 hp on a bike that's under 200 kilos -tuned. I just don't see how you can get the R1 back to where it was with that Bren tune after all this.

The older ones are, after the 2019 update the engines are just not as good. My 2018 is approaching 40,000 miles either zero issues and never had to adjust the valves. Also the new ones are not built in Germany 🫢 but bmw is keeping that a secret.
@@Critastic I have a buddy who calls mine a Chinese bike but those M models are all carbon and I don't think China or elsewhere can make that yet. I have an F800R and I'm in a BMW group and there's about 20 of them in there with 500k miles on them. I don't know if the new engines are crap but man that all carbon M RR is not like anything I've ever felt. It is so light but I would have a Brutal if I was spending that much but I take your word for it.

That driver in the white truck was making a normal maneuver in traffic and you act like its his fault, wake up your actions are the problem.That bike should be trailered and taken to the shop with a coolant leak and by the way i have been riding since 1971 had several motorcycles and have a 2016 R1 never had a single problem with the bike.Call me a hater i don't care, your generation has a problem with critics no matter how justified their criticism.
