      A lot of of the British Acting schools have classes dedicated to accents. It’s why their exports are generally pretty good at doing an American or other accents.
      For whatever reason most of the American acting schools don’t do this, which is a shame.
      I don’t know if she studied acting abroad or not though, but it’s possible she studied across the pond. I did study a bit myself in England for a couple semesters (part of an exchange sort of thing with my Acting program located in New York).
      Other than that, yeah you can get lessons from Accent coaches and whatnot.

      @@TheGeorgeD13 I don't know why you think American acting schools don't include accent study because they do. They are more concerned with regional American accents, though, and tend to give British and Irish ones short shrift. Some British actors are good at American accents and some definitely are not. I saw an English production of The Grapes of Wrath that was all over the map, and not in a good way.

    • @HaplessStranger

      Agreed. There was something particularly weird about the way she said "Canada". Like maybe the hypothetical Torontonian is second generation and she was raised speaking two languages in the home.

    • @chrystaljones1903
      @chrystaljones1903 3 роки тому +24

      I was going to say the same. I’m from Toronto area and people don’t really talk like that unless they’re originally from a small town in the boonies. It’s too hillbilly. Haha but yeah, the natural accent sounds more like Toronto.

    • @taraa8531
      @taraa8531 3 роки тому +24

      Yeah I'm from the Toronto area and her natural accent sounds the most like us, followed by her Seattle accent. The way she says "Canada" reminds me of the way western Canadians (specifically in Alberta) speak.

    • @Andrea-sg7qp
      @Andrea-sg7qp 3 роки тому +13

      She was definitely a lot closer than a lot of people doing "Canadian" accents I've seen which usually sound like a broken Irish/Midwestern US hybrid, but just the way she said "Canada" was off. I've hear people from Saskatchewan say it like that but not Toronto.

      Nobody from Barcelona would say "Eth-paña", ever, that's just plainly wrong (this is one of my biggest pet peeves with people who knows no Spanish trying to do a "Spanish accent"). "Bar-the-lona" is also weird, because while it's the right pronunciation in Spanish, most locals don't use the Spanish pronunciation if they're not speaking Spanish. They would use the Catalan pronunciation, in which case the "c" is pronounced as "s".
