Strangely enough, I was just thinking about the weather thing. In northern countries, where the weather is harsh, people had to be more co-operative, and work harder to gather resources, build structures etc to get through the harsh winters. I think that created a culture of co-operation and hard work, and a shared ethos of mutual benefit. Maybe to some extent that happened in deserts too, where resources are scarce. But then those cultures are more adapted to being nomadic.

Certain economic practices limit the ability of Muslim countries to develop a high GDP. it comes down to Islam prohibition on interest charging which means businesses cant grow and develop. The second thing is the way things are inherited, businesses have to be dissolved completely and divided to all the children, thereby if someone wanted to go into the business they have to start again. Turkey has been suffering terrible inflation because Eridgan will not control the economy with interest rates, this is way before post covid inflation.

Strangely enough, I was just thinking about the weather thing. In northern countries, where the weather is harsh, people had to be more co-operative, and work harder to gather resources, build structures etc to get through the harsh winters. I think that created a culture of co-operation and hard work, and a shared ethos of mutual benefit. Maybe to some extent that happened in deserts too, where resources are scarce. But then those cultures are more adapted to being nomadic.
