I know we haven't seen the final product from Bloober yet, but I wonder how it would've turned out if Konami chose HexaDrive to make it instead. They have a decent list of projects they've worked on. Konami's decisions are baffling.
I'd take BlooberTeam over HexaDrive any day. After Shart Message and Turd Birthday they need to stay far away from Silent Hill.

I think these are great finds. I always questioned if the leaks from back then really came from a Bloober Team Prototype and was quite sure, after HeyaDrive released their footage, it came from their Mock-Prototype. But looking the comparison screens here now, we know for sure that this material came from the Bloober Team Prototype. Kinda surprised how much they sticked to this Prorotype in the final build that will be released.

02:22 Strange how the poc has shadow projection and the version of the trailer that was supposed to be the final one doesn't have any. The nurse's shadow in this part has no distortion regardless of the angle of the flashlight. It looks like they put a hardcoded shadow on the 3D model itself, which is a bit weird when they promoted, produced the game in UE5 which has global illumination lumen.

@@santinodurizzotto2372 You're right, this scene has dynamic lighting. I'm noticing an inconsistency in this lighting issue. In the same trailer that you sent at min 10:15, if you notice the table has a shadow edge attached to the table and instead of it moving as James approaches, in fact the shadow it suffers a transparency effect, that is, it is not dynamic. It may be that some objects have dynamic light treatment and others do not.
@@wagnerabrantes4034 Oh now that I think about it there may be a clear reason. The trailer footage is 30fps so maybe the demonstration is running on a PS5 instead of a PC and some shadows are lacking as a result of performance compromises
I would love to see a Shattered Memories-like remake of SH2.
I am disappointed that Hexadrive had to cancel their take on SH2 Remake. While I didn't like The Short Message I do think that seeing that footage of their game could have led to a better game possibly. Then again the team behind the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is showing that they're giving Delta the exact treatment Silent Hill 2 Remake should have be getting.
Probably because it's made by people who worked on the OG game (mgs3)

I heard about and saw this early demo footage before, I was very sad when all talk of it disappeared as I love silent hill and not only want the old games remastered/remade on current platforms but also new games. I thought the short message was good(as different as it was it was definitely a tragedy and felt like silent hill in tone, it was pretty hardcore really)I hope more people actually play and finish it to see that(some people were turned off by the gameplay but as a person who has played all the games I feel the difference was ok for a side title and I also didn't mind the "shattered remake of silent hill one that nintendo got and later ps. I just want more silent hill and I am glad it is finally coming around 😎👌 I remember how excited I was when I read about the first game in psm and pre ordered the game at software etc. And then finally getting it and playing, good times. I also waited in line to get silent hill 2 when it released and was blown away again...I hope thos remake sells(ugly faces or not)cuz we need silent hill back in a big way 🙏
Cool video! A cool thing you might not know is that WayForward did a Silent Hill 2 proof of concept for the Nintendo DS way back in 2006.

The only good thing coming from hexadrive's demo is James' look. Everything else looks off, the lighting of the apartment, the environment looking too clean making the blood splatters seem unsurprising. You could dismiss it as "oh its just a demo of course it looks bad" but its a pitch, a proof of concept, yes the graphics can be bad but at least bloober's pitch got the look right, the cold atmosphere and rough environment. Bloober had a way better reputation in terms of sales, the genres they were doing and relations. Though this doesn't make me trust konami in any way I still hate them, but I have hope in bloober.

This is the first time I saw any footage of the Bloober and Hexadrive demos. Good job and thanks for sharing! Hexadrive seem to have missed the point of the environment though, it doesn't give the right SH2 vibes. In this case I say Konami did right not to entrust SH2 with them.

@darkdude4125 the current build is missing a lot of the charm of the original like the army patches on the jacket, and the nurses seem to be more based on the post sh3 sexy nurses.

Dust Golem is really an amazing guy. Who has an awesome talent of tracking down beta game development. Really goes to show how much they delivered for this remake. Got me excited to play this on Halloween month.

The original characters had a unique charm. They were elegant yet exuded an unsettling, almost eerie presence. In REMAKE, they just look... goofy.

Angela and Maria need more work, their heads are too big compared to the rest of their bodies.
The combat needs to be toned down... This isn't an action game.
Otherwise the graphics look absolutely amazing and it's how I would imagine a real-life Silent Hill town would look like.
THANK GOD they changed devs. Having the guys who made Silent Message make the REMAKE would have ACTUALLY been a disaster
I actually think that The Short Message was rock solid, just made to appeal to a different generation of gamers and maybe not especially for the Silent Hill fanatics. But the designs were top notch and the otherworld was one of the best since the older games. Saying that, the story did not come von HexaDrive but was created internaly at Konami and was directed by the new Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto, working for Konami. The material for a Silent Hill 2 Remake pitch was created by HexaDrive in a very short time during a time Konami already had a deal with Bloober Team. I would love to see if Konami is giving HexaDrive some ressources, what they might be able to do with their very own project.

@@theangrygamer1232 I'm 37 and always open for new stuff. It wasn't P.T. (not even the slightest) but an improvement over crap like Homecoming and Downpour. It's free, no one was hurt by the game.

i like these other sh2 versions compared to the slop were getting..seeing how their ruining sh2 makes me no longer want a silent hill 3 remake as i've seen what they've done to the female characters injecting woke into it....i'd rather not have a ugly heather mason.. heather and sh3 is one of my favorite games of all time. but i'd rather not see a cursed remake of it.

@@Benzona I didn't understand shit about the games when I was young but they gave me nightmares for months and I've been obsessed with psychological horror since then.
I saw the action gameplay in the trailers for the remake and it really didn't feel like the same game anymore...
@@iroquoiskaram8639 Have you ever seen the original 2001 trailers for Silent Hill 2? It's pretty normal to focus on the combat system same as they did back then, it doesn't necessarily mean its going to be an RE4 level departure from horror to be a big dumb action game
