A lovely song, Robin, clearly written with true feelings! Virtually all of my own early songs no longer exist, sadly! I not only gave up writing songs for many years, I also gave up playing guitar for three years, and sold every instrument I owned! My songs ended up in the waste bin and I thought I'd neither write nor play ever again! But, I eventually made some kind of a comeback, but only for my own amusement, and that is how it continues today. Too late for fame or fortune now anyway! LOL! I'm sure your wife was pleased with this song of yours -- it's a good one, for sure! Well done.

I’ve had a notebook for sixty years I used to write down our set lists and words to songs I’d written. For some reason the melodies have stuck with me. Likewise, my friend, I went for years without playing my guitar, singing or writing - except the libretto for my musical.🤤 I regret not persevering with finger style.
