  • Simple ambient VCV patch using five instances of Arturia Pigments running in the Host plugin. All the sounds in Pigments are custom patches made by sampling VCV - will make a tutorial on this next year.
Background image from this week's Christmas holiday in Spain, you can now set custom backgrounds in VCV using DanT's Purfenator module:

i should really buy the pro vcv rack and the host modules... i would love to hear how a realistic piano could sound using vcv rack

Yep, shame it's not free but if you buy one thing for Rack, it should be the Host module. Then you can use free plugins like Spitfire Labs, Vital, Supermassive etc. I think the Pro version is worth it too if you can afford it, not just for the plugin but the effects are excellent too.

sounds dope... I want to get the host modules since a while now, but I m so over saturated with ideas and possibilities as is, it has not happened yet.

Yeah so many possibilities, sometimes I don't know what to make next! I have loads of ideas, then when I get round to trying them out, most don't sound any good 🤣
If you're going to buy anything for rack, I'd recommend host. Great fun to modulate plugins with VCV modules too.

Thanks! The patch is just really simple sequences using the fundamental Seq-3. The key trick is sampling other patches, which makes sounds you can't easily create just with VCV 😉
