- @KeishaBeTraveling am on a three-months solo journey through different parts of Mexico. It is my first weekend in Merida and it is jam-packed with action.
1) I made some friends including some very unwanted male ones.
2) I took an African dance class taught by a Mexicana and it was VERY good.
3) I went to my first Mayan Pok ta Pok game which the Mayans played to determine who would get sacrificed to the Gods and we got a winner.
4) I walk the streets of Merida late at night with my new friends. We buy marquesitas from a food vendor and we laugh at my Spanish pronunciation as I struggle to say "cajeta."
5) The streets of Merida actually came to life on a Saturday night but after the festivities I walk home late at night by myself in the empty streets. I haven't see another human for blocks and I am scared.

Great vlog! You look amazing. That hot sun is doing you good. You are going to Mexico City?
Thank you love! Yes, even though the Mexican sun is brutal. It def has me glistening. Yes, next up is Mexico City. I have so many CDMX adventures that I can’t wait to share
Love this spot La Negrita the murals in that spot are beautiful.
La Negrita was so cool. The murals were so beautiful and the music and food were amazing too 😋
It's refreshing to see you having and embraceing all these different experiences! I look forward to more of your vlogs!❤ Just say yessss to Marquesitas!
Thank you so much. I have been enjoying all the new experiences. Right? You'll never regret a marquesita. They are always so good.
I’m loving your videos, I can’t wait to start my expat travels. Thanks Queen 💜
Thanks so much queen! I’m so glad you are feeling inspired. Good luck with your journey 💕💕
Que envidia con ustedes disfrutando de mucha comida uuummmm , felicidades bellas mujeres
jaja vamos a ahorrar algo para ti. Muchas gracias 😄
Girl Im mexican, little did I know about african culture in Merida, the afromexican community resides in Guerrero state probably Oaxaca too. Yoy should go visit
Hey hey I was so surprised to find that West African dance class in Merida and the instructor was so amazing too. That’s so good to know about Guerrero. I’m going to have to add it to my list. I went to Oaxaca after Mexico City and spent two weeks in the city and visited Puerto Escondido. I saw a few Afro-Mexicans there. Was so cool.
I have a couple vlogs from Oaxaca coming next month.
@jam8721 I did a fun African dance class that you would really like in this one
You were bold in walking those blocks that looked abandoned. What was your impression of Merida?
Half way through it. I was like I don’t know why I didn’t take a taxi. Those blocks were empty. Merida was cool to visit for a couple days. It was cool to see the historical center, colonial areas and Paseo Montejo. However, two weeks felt too long for me. It was a bit quiet for me coming from Playa del Carmen that is full of life and feels like a mini Miami or NY and there is tons to do all the time.
Love your videos. When did you learn Spanish?
Thank you 😊 I initially learned in Madrid. I studied abroad there for a year in college.
New subbie!!
Thanks so much 💕
Thanks for sharing! I have so much admiration for you! How is the local food?
Thanks so much for the support. Merida has some yummy food but some of the items at that market were hit or miss. The food in the fancier restaurants was better.
Your Spanish is awesome. How long have you spoken the language? What was that you had after the cajeta? They both looked delicious.
Muchas gracias! I studied abroad in Madrid in college and did a program where I wasn’t allowed to speak English so I didn’t speak English for a year and learned that way initially but lost a lot of it after college when I didn’t speak it for years haha For the marquesita, I got bananas, strawberries, Nutella and caramel.

Try not to walk by yourself especially in lonely streets at night. You have a new subscriber here salute to you from Texas we are originally from Honduras 🇭🇳 living in the states for 26 years but we are moving back Honduras this year
I don't know why I decided to walk around at night in the lonely streets of Merida instead of taking a cab 🤣🤣 Thank you for subscribing and I am so happy for you to move back to Honduras. I hope you enjoy your home
@KeishaBeTraveling black communities are all over North coast side of Honduras and the entire central American countries all the way from Belize to Guyana in South America and will be glad to have you and all our brothers and sisters from U.S
@@R24456 I definetly want to visit Honduras for sure and Guyana and more of South America. Thank you so much for the love.
Hola! Can you give a reference point or name for the more upscale air BNB you stayed in when you left the 'hood'? Thanks
Lmao at “left the hood” The second one was right by Paseo de Montejo. The main strip.
@@KeishaBeTraveling 😄 Tryna establish residency via overstaying visa. Familiar with that area having stayed at Villa Mercedes nearby.
@@lebaron7026 Good luck! I know a couple people who have done that option and got their residency that way. Yes, that area was super nice
What do you do for work? Did you already have the job when you came from NY? Looking for a secure remote job.
I am a program evaluator (a form of research.) I came here with a job to test out the digital nomad life last summer and ended up staying.
