I'm Pretty Sure That's Because The Healing Pokémon Data Are Stored Just Above The Screen. Because The Player Has More Than 6 Pokémon, It Overflows Into The Screen Buffer, And After, Into Other Parts Of Memory. Which Is Probably Why The Game Crashed After He Walked To The Right A Bit.
I find the low HP sound going off at 5:20 is almost like a warning sound that the game work RAM has been corrupted and the game is going to crash sooner or later.
To be fair, a Timid Starmie is decent in competitive. Also, I like the idea that the Starmie *is* trying to communicate with you, but since you can't understand its language, the game just shows it as blank. Honestly, if a Starmie could say more than “HYAAAHHG", I’d be stunned.
Why is it that Pokémon Centers can heal millions of Pokémon annually, but when I want to heal 256 at the same time it breaks the fabric of space and time?
I need to ask, what was causing the corrupted music in your fight against ElitG Four Harvey? Might this have something to do with your Pokémon data getting loaded into a sound channel, as discussed around 2:48?
I don't know if you've done this one yet, but how about exploring glitches associated with not having Pokemon in your party? Like how wild encounters, healing, PC, trainer spotting, and daycare would be affected
It's not a well-crafted, technically in-depth series like Crystal does, but a Let's play about that topic has been done: ua-cam.com/video/lO6QkIPHmV0/v-deo.html
You can't use a PC with Pokémon Storage System access in GSC as the game returns an error informing you precisely of not having any Pokémon. This is also the case when you attempt to use items such as Potions.
You know what I don't get? Why does Generation 2 instantly end battles when you don't have any Pokemon? Other Generations make you send out glitch Pokemon.
Because they were deliberately more careful with the code in GSC. Both wild and Trainer battles automatically end with a victory when you don't have Pokémon. As to healing, the Pokémon Center receptionist simply turns around to face the machine, the game detects there are no Pokémon, then moves on to the post-heal script.
Why do I imagine the "Wild Trainer Pokemon" like this... Game: "But...B-but its a WILD Pokemon...n-not a TRAINER. I dont understand...Whats Happening!? AHHHHH AHHHHHH" *Panics *
0:35: "Wild appeared!" Red sent out Uno Reverse Card! 5:23: Wild TAUROS appeared! TAUROS ran off to the LARGE HADRON COLLIDER! "? is trying to learn NIGHT SHADE!" ...But I wanted to see what 99999tzxREEEE-whatever did! D: "ELITG FOUR BARVEY Bants Bo Battle!" 11:40: "Uh...nurse? You might want to stop..." "(in her worst imitation of Mercy from Overwatch) NO! I MUST HEAL THEM ALL!!! HEROES NEVER DIE!!!"
I've poked around with the code that handles party mon count in Red and could get it to work with up to 8, as long as I reduced the number of mons you can store in PC. Still never saved nicknames for the last two but would display 8 pokeball icons on the battle screen.
Yo, what's with the glitch Pokemon's movesets? They seem to be copies of legit Pokemon like Golem rather than the usual mishmash; where are they getting that from?
11:23 honistly that was the first Poke`mon glitch i've ever done(and it was on the GBA port of Red and Sapphire while i was messing around with AdvanceMap and removed the blocking you from getting a poke`mon before progressing and it caused the glitch cuz i = 0 while (i < NumOfPKMN) = false so it's stuck in a continuous loop)
I think they changed the iv requirements for a gen 1 Pokemon to be shiny when transferred pokebank and gen 2, so do you plan on making a new transferable gen 1 shiny 8f video? P.S. I love this channel, keep doing arceuse's work.
Yay thanks for telling me. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, is there a way to glitch pokemon into being shiny in gold and silver, and can it be done to a glitched celebi?
Excellent analysis as usual. Out of the valid battle types, I recall there being one that is unused. Am I remembering correctly or is it a false memory?
I'm aware of Yellow's. Now that you guys mentioned it, the one I was thinking of in GSC is similar in that you enter a battle but no Pokémon is sent. TCRF seems to hint at what I'm talking about and a Japanese Crystal cheat codes page lists what it calls "battle patterns" (戦闘パターン) as being controlled by address 0xD261. I think the unused battle type is 0x02. tcrf.net/Pokémon_Gold_and_Silver#Battle_Ends_Automatically plaza.rakuten.co.jp/himoningen/43002/
So in the case of a trainer with the infinite pokemon state applied to it, what happens when they only have a single pokemon? Will went from Xatu to Jynx as normal, would a trainer with only one pokemon send that mon out repeatedly, or would the game glitch out trying to send out a slot 2 mon that doesn't exist?
Poketransporter currently blocks all Celebi from the VC games since there is no legal way to get one, no matter what you do. This will most likely change when Crystal gets released on the 18th, because they modified the game to have the in-game Celebi event obtainable. The good news is that the Crystal Celebi is able to be Shiny, since it is currently the only Pre-Gen V Pokemon that isn't legally obtainable as Shiny in Gen VII

Pokémon Red and Blue still here after new millennium confirmed
7:02 I legit died in laughter at how that Starmie turned into a broke trainer
And so, Nurse Joy broke the entire universe... by healing more than 6 Pokemon at once.
conchudo12345 We hope to see you again! And no, we don’t know how to fix the world.

That’s why they have laws.

I've always wanted to battle a wild Abra turned Starmie. Now's my chance!
Let's keep our facts straight. It's not an Abra turned Starmie, it's an Abra that _sent_ a Starmie!
To be specific, a Starmie that timidly hands over all the money it has (read: none) after you beat it.
But Crystal, how can we be sure that the Abra wasnt an illusion created by the Starmies to turn our Trainers crazy?
How can Starmies be real if our Game Boys aren't real?
EthanLac Oh noes. What if nothing is real?
I like to think all the "???????"s are the Game screaming in confusion.
Why is it that Pokémon Centers can heal millions of Pokémon annually, but when I want to heal 256 at the same time it breaks the fabric of space and time?
Wow. This is awesome. I have never seen such an in depth coverage and explaination of a single glitch. I learned a lot. Thanks!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!
Fun fact: The G in Elitg Four Harvey stands for glitch. It's trug!
"ASH got $0 for winning! Sent some to MOM!" This... is kinda funny tbh.
I bet that Growlithe at 4:00 was not expecting his day to go that way
5:19 it's like the Tauros is confused as to why you have so many pokemon.

That infinite trainer would be great for experience farming :P
Cristian Martinez Not very helpful if you can never exit the battle
just spam something like splash at the end!
Yeah, but what happens when everyone hits lvl 100?

It's either nothing fun or the same as having 255+1 Pokemon in the party.

"ELITG FOUR".
I just skimmed the video because I'm at school right now, but Elitg Four Harvey seems to just be a red version of Will with a bunch of B's 🤔

Yo, what's with the glitch Pokemon's movesets? They seem to be copies of legit Pokemon like Golem rather than the usual mishmash; where are they getting that from?
The level up moves are based on the Pokemon's species, which is random considering it comes from unrelated data.

If pokemon can catch pokemon, can't you catch a pokemon with a full team so when you send it out it can send it's team out.

They swapped the Attack and Defense DV requirements but since I used 10 DV for both stats in my video it's still compatible
