- Performance by Shahram Azhar in Philadelphia on March 22, 2015. Shahram is the co-founder and former lead singer of Laal, a Pakistani band known for singing progressive political songs.
The show featured Shahram singing songs from the LAAL album on the first half of the show, and folk and Sufi poetry in the second half. Featuring Aqeel Bhatti on tabla, Vivian Xavier on keyboard, and Sami Kureishy on guitar. Videography and editing by Jehanzeb Dar.
The event was hosted by Saaz Inc., a non-profit organization based out of Philadelphia. The primary charter of Saaz is to promote South Asian performing arts by organizing vocal and instrumental concerts, dance performances, poetry and book readings.

Listening again to this wisdom of Faiz Sahib, rendered in this heavenly voice makes me weep...sobs and deep, deep tears that have needed release since August 1947...... I imagine how different all our lives would have been today if the British had not partitioned us, there would be no extremism on either side of the border and my Muslim-Hindu identity would never have been broken.
It’s fascinating how Faiz’s words and this beautiful voice come from the outside, only to be met by an echo from deep within the heart... JI HAN, BHAION, HUM DEKHENGE! I live in the real hope of reunification, the only solution to all our problems, most especially those of our Kashmiri brethren.
