Yes I got super cub / honda wave like 125 and it beat all those bikes in city any day. You ride it like a bike, but no with clutch leaver means super easy in traffic. And it is so light. I only strugle with big mountains around city so I upgrade second engine for it to run 130-140 km/h (80-87 miles per hour)

@@JGarcia-uy7sq great gas mileage, my average was around 40mpg and with such a small tank i only filled up twice a week commuting 30 miles to work and 30 back home from work. With how cheap gas is in Texas i only spent maybe 5 bucks at most to fill up my tank from complete empty. All in all a 650 i would say is the best long term economical choice of displacement for motorcycles. I traded in for an R6 almost a year ago now and its not as good as my 650 was with gas mileage but it has its trade offs for sure.

Over here, for mixed commute (urban + highway) I'd say the Honda NC750X.
You get 60-70mpg (seen some people do 80mpg), you get the realiability of (almost) a diesel car - around 12.000km between oil changes and other repairs, you have a "met in " (the gas tank is actually a storage space enough for an integral helmet, 22L), upright seat, low centre of gravity for more agility (despite being a tall mofo and quite heavy 750cc), also has DCT (automatic gears + hand shifter) who everyone swears is great for traffic, can reach up to 190km/h... and it's rather cheap for the segment. It can also deal with a bit of offroad for weekend fun, many people also use it for Touring - a bit like the F1200GS. Many people call it dull, has no soul, isn't really a true motorcycle, jack of all trades master of none, etc, but it is a rational, practical and reliable way to go from point A to point B on two wheels while not sacrificing many advantages of a car but also not needing to buy a 600cc Scooter.
As someone who commutes 140km everyday (70 going to work + 70 coming back home) and needs to carry a buckload of equipment, this is going to be my purchase when I get the money for it. Everyone swears by it as a first bike, in spite of being a 750cc, it has been designed precisely to be an easy commuter and a city beast.
Edit: Ah. It also has an A2 version, which is uncommon for this cc, even though I'm getting the full version (I'm over 25 and have a B license, I could just jump right to unrestricted A license).

This is a great commuter bike, I consider it the crossover SUV, not quite an adventure bike and not a sport bike, just a very practical motorcycle that just blends in. The DCT transmition is amazing for city traffic, riding is less exhausting. Good luck on your future purchase. Also since it sounds like you are in Europe look at the adv 750. Same bike but more of an off rode scooter, that is what I wanted but they don't sell them over here in the states.

    • @sorayaimperial
      @sorayaimperial 2 роки тому

@@jonadamson7704 I ended up buying it already, the 700X from 2012 (couldn't afford a more recent one, for the 750) with just 50.000km, was brand new and full of extras.
I'm very very happy with it, even though it is not the DCT version, it's still quite effortless and I adjusted pretty well to it (even better than the bikes I used in my drivers license classes, lol). I'm doing a mix of open highway and heavy traffic highway, and it's great.
The ADV750 looks amazing, such an interesting concept and I thought about it, but was a bit off my "wallet size".

But that Triumph is so noob friendly, it's a treat for old salty riders who just want a break from a high-attention requirement bike. Big, wide 5 speed box (unfortunate false neutrals not withstanding), flickable weight balance, light clutch action saves you the carpal tunnel, and the infinite bottom end torque doesn't care if you butcher a 1st gear take off or drop the clutch. No embarassing stalls at lights. You just don't have to manage it, so you can look around more and wrestle your bike less.

When I was in Arizona I had a Honda Blackbird and a Triumph Rocket III. Now that I live in the San Francisco area I ride a Suzuki Burgman 650. It's expensive, it's relatively slow, and it's not that great on gas, but I think it's the best all around bike for riding around the city. The mirrors retract with the push of a button for splitting lanes, and the transmission is automatic for when you don't want to split lanes. The automatic transmission makes an hour of stop & go traffic a lot easier. It's super comfortable with a back rest and unlimited choice for where to put your feet. It's still faster than most cars on the road, and the storage area is big enough for me to get a week worth of groceries. Some people will scoff at the idea of riding a maxi scooter, but don't knock it until you try it.

    2:18 - Suzuki SV650 - (45-60 MPG)
    3:01 - Honda Grom - (100-125 MPG)
3:47 - (multiple brands) Supermoto - (too many options but you can get >50 MPG easily, ppl recommend 450cc 4-stroke)
    4:39 - Hyosung GD250N - (~70 MPG)
    5:22 - Honda CB300R - (60-80 MPG)
    6:07 - KTM 390 Duke - (70-85 MG)
    6:50 - Kawasaki Honda Suzuki Yamaha 600cc bikes - (35-50 MPG)
    8:02 - Harley-Davidson Street 750 - (40-47 MPG)
    8:37 - Suzuki TU250X - (65-80 MPG)
9:26 - (multiple brands) Moped - (you can easily get >70 MPG, 100+ MPG exist, they kinda slow tho)

City riding to me is like being in the middle of a NASCAR race on a motorcycle...so if i'm out and about and want to feel the wind on the highway without getting run over in the process, I ride my GSX-R1000. My only other option (I sorta wish I still had my Ninja 400) is my Kawi Z900.
Lots of low end torque and a very smooth ride for riding around in the more populated surrounding areas. Not ideally light weight but it's manageable power is fun and it's a joy to ride. It finally cooled off here in Texas so I'm definitely gonna get out and ride today. Great video!

The Ninja 250-300-400 is good for a very short rider, and sucks pretty bad for a taller or heavier rider. I would consider a Suzuki Burgman 400cc scooter for city use- no shifting from stoplight to stoplight, keeps your work clothes cleaner, more luggage space, and less likely to be stolen than a cooler looking bike. For a tight budget the South Korean and Chinese scooters are cheap, especially if you do your own maintenance and do a lot of searching for price vs. reliability for each brand. A guy at work bought a 200cc Lifan enduro style bike good for city use- he went through extra work getting it in a box and putting it together, to get the title and registration, and he found he should have added new brake fluid from day 1 after it failed early and created master cylinder and caliper cleaning. He had a hard time finding a mechanic willing to work on it, and does most of the work himself.

Long suspension travel for our terrible streets, good on the highway under 80mph, low price point, 60mpg and high enough to have presence and see around all the trucks and SUV's. Also ABS, it has saved my ass more then once in this crazy town and in my opinion should be considered a requirement for any city bike.

Better than 70 mpg without trying, ABS, a fairing which makes getting caught in rain MUCH nicer than the naked bike I used to ride. Plus it’s safety orange! (At least it is if you get the Repsol edition, and is legit what I told my wife when I bought it home...) It’ll also happily sit as freeway speeds for as long as you’d like. It’s narrow enough to split through most gaps and while it won’t keep up with a Grom in that respect it also doesn’t look like you’re a grownup riding a clown bike. Plus it has a pretty upright riding position even though it doesn’t;’t look like it does when it’s parked. It looks like a proper sports bike while actually being an awesome commuter.

More simply stated, small to mid displacement naked bikes are ideal for urban transport. Z400 or Z650 are great. The CB300 as mentioned are also excellent. And, I would also include scooters for their utilitarian character. Millions of people around the world have 1-2 scooters at their homes as the exclusive means of transportation other than buses for long trips and they make life good. I will buy a Honda Super Cub 125 just for that reason as a second bike. Strap a milk crate on the rear rack and leave the car parked.

Honestly, coming from someone who commutes daily in the city (in the non-winter months), and whose bike was literally just stolen, I think the most important detail is price. If you’ve got the space, buy a cheap bike off craigslist for your commuter bike, and then have a nice bike for your weekend rides. If you’re leaving your bike parked in a ramp or on the street daily in the city, eventually it’s gonna get stolen, or vandalized, or even just knocked over
