I know Mark isn't hyper-enthusiastic about the cheap stuff for the 60's/70's, but this is where you find tone that isn't immediately identifiable. I say keep them coming. Japanese guitars from the era are cool as hell too...
I’m ok with the shoutouts being over, but those of us who have been here from the start can remember a few very touching moments that all started with a shoutout. The show has heart and there’s no denying the shoutouts are/were a part of that.
I thought they helped build a community vibe...

It never fails to amaze that guitars from stores like Sears, JC Penny's, or Montgomery Ward that were probably Christmas gifts are worth so much now.
Those stores had huge music dept's with guitars, amps, records, stereos with music playing loudly. They also had motorcycles. I still have my Kay Value leader from 1965 in like new condition. I had the Silvertone amp Mark is using but that is gone now.
That's artificial inflation for you. Collectors drive prices up.

I have a Kay Swingmaster of 1963 which was built in US probably in the same factory of this guitar and it's crazy how both guitars look similar.

love Harmonys. They always sound good when you crank them up and some are just wonderfully weird. I briefly had one with the pickups wired out the side and into the f hole. They worked and sounded good, but I've never seen any other guitar wired like that.

Four American budget companies made the majority of guitars for both Sears
(Silvertone), and Montgomery Ward (Airline). They were Harmony, Kay, and Valco
(Supro/National) out of Chicago, and DanElectro out of New Jersey. I have owned a
Harmony Rocket and a Supro marked "Airline", and DanElectros, a Kay, and a Harmony
marked "Silvertone".

My 1st guitar was a Harmony flat top and i banged on that sucker night and day it took it and always had a great sound . They dont get the respect they should they are really good guitars.

Not a fan of the upper 'cutaway' but its a vintage Harmony. had a Rocket II. I miss it all the time.

This is great because I've been looking for any and all gold foil pickups guitars lately, and 3 days ago I searched for such a guitar on your channel. What are the odds that the very first one should be now? Could you do some more guitars with these style pickups please? Some of them have such sweet clean and clear tones. Thanks for being awesome! Those amps are haunting me! I saw one in a store a month ago, drove about 25 miles to another store, same head! Saw another a week later, now this. And whatever happened to Roebuck? He got screwed I tells ya!!!

Talk about "timewarpp travel!!!!! Woo hoo!!!! Harmony guitar, Sears amp!!!!! We are back in the garage in 1967. And to really kill the tone, a "Fuzz King" distortion pedal, powered by a AA battery. Our PA was a Bogen amp/mixer going into a pair of Radio Shack column speakers. "Ladies and Gentlemen I give you from LaCrosse Indiana- THE SOUL CRUSADERS"
