- Having just left Buffalo & Pittsburgh's Buffalo Creek Yard, Norfolk Southern yard job C31 heads back towards Bison Yard light power to grab a cut of cars off the Howard Runner with a trio of SD40s; the leader being a rebuilt SD40-3 which, thanks to someone with a few cans of spray paint, is unofficially wearing the Class 1's older Thoroughbred paint scheme!

My Dad was a car oiler for the Nickel Plate Back in the mid 1950s , He worked the night shift and serviced lines of cars in the Tift Street yard. He liked the job and the guys he worked with… AJ Habarth
I love watching these videos ,my Dad worked on the Erie Lackawanna, for 46 years. He was an electrician He was sent to the Buffalo Creek and other railroads. These bring back great memories. Thanks
Another great catch!
This took awhile, been looking for a video of this SD40-3 after seeing the post.
what a great looking trio can't get much better then that nice catch man
@@MarcEdsall I agree, I love the old EMDs NS has! Thanks a lot!
Very nice catch Matt! Those graffiti artists did a pretty ok job on that sd40-3. Might make a ho model of that loco. Looks pretty cool yet weird to see an admiral cab with no unibrow!
@CentralVirginiaRailProductions Thanks a lot! Yeah I agree, aside from the lines being a little squiggly they did a pretty decent job. The lack of a unibrow is odd, but I do like it!
Very cool to see the old NS logo on that lead unit. Great video!
Thanks!
I like that scheme better, I wish they would go back to it
So do I.
Guess it’s better than spraying a bunch of crappy gang signs:)
I didn't even notice and I was climbing all over that unit just a couple hours ago.
@@josephpichardo958 I was staring at it for a solid few minutes before realizing something didn't look right about it.
@ I didn’t even notice until I looked side by side in the video
