Over the winter I acquired an 09 spirit and it has a mustang seat from an 07 1100 Sabre. It fits perfectly fine but you have to unbolt the center bolt bracket from the seat and just use the front hook and the rear fender bolt. It is perfectly secure and opens up a better chance of finding a used seat. Mine has a memphis shades batwing and a set of cheap china saddlebags and am adding the wrap around armrest on the backrest for my grandson. I love shadows they are great bikes. All the chain drive 750's are twin carb and all the shaft drive 750's are single carb till they went to fuel injection I think around 2014. Except for the shadow RS was fuel injected and chain drive the couple of years they sold it in the US.
Thank you for sharing this information! I need to do some research into it and find something that I feel would work for me. I kind of have a look in my head I want to achieve, just not sure if I can do it. Thanks for your comment!
@@TWOWHEELD Another thought if you want to stretch out is to put an engine bar on with highway pegs. I kinda like the closer pegs for in town or for potholes so I can take some pressure off of the gludious maximus before the shockwave works its way up my spine that way I can still stretch out on the highway. I was wrong Honda fuel injected the RS and Phantom in 2010
Yeah. I know that’s one thing I don’t want to put on this bike. I use my highway pegs all the time on my RKS, but want to keep the front end of this one clean. I think a good solo seat and some extensions will do the trick. Then I’m sure I will have to do the handlebars. 😆
Mine is a 2009 shadow aero 750. We enjoy watching. We just put on a USB charger, phone holder and rear luggage rack. Now just waiting for more videos from you and nice weather here for more rides. Thank you for videos
Thank you. We appreciate you being here! Sounds like you are getting yours set up for some longer rides. Nice! We could use some nicer weather here as well. Been a bit wet lately. It will come around! Thanks for watching!
Great to be back out after the winter! Here in Indiana we had a false spring early so I was riding for a week straight but then the weather went back to winter for a few weeks. So far I've been able to put over 800 miles on my Triumph Thunderbird...but only about 30 miles on the Shadow. Weather's great now...finally!
I’m gonna try to be on the Shadow more this season! I know a lot of those here like seeing and hearing the bike. Just remember, we are the same people on either the Harley or the Shadow, so hope to catch you on some of those videos if you can. 😃 We appreciate you being here!
@@TWOWHEELD I have a Honda shadow but the RS (chain driven). I’m also 6’2” and it’s a bit small but I love it. (My first bike and I’m still learning to ride). I would like to move the pegs forward
Having the pegs where they are is good for a new rider. What I learned though, being tall, when I put my feet down, my pant leg will hook the peg. That’s something I had to learn quickly to put my legs out further. Where they are helps the control, but when you are ready, check out Scootmods. They make a bracket that you can move them forward with. Unless you want to buy new pegs and all that. These brackets allow you to use as much of the old stuff as possible. You do need to pull the exhaust off to install the RH side. Pretty good chance I will be doing this mod, so stay tuned. 😆
Just love your bike! I got a 2007 last year twin to this except in red. Engine is stock and it came with a few accessories and I added some of my own. Smooth running simple bike, the more I ride it the more I like it. Stay safe this season!
Thank you! I really like how the red ones look! I’m a red kind of guy. 😊 Definitely a nice simple bike. We appreciate you watching and commenting. Ride safe as well!
Love the shadow days. Love my 05 Aero too. I am 6'4 and it gets a little cramped on longer rides but i put a saddleman seat on it and it made a huge difference. Look forward to more shadow videos!
Saddleman makes a seat for the Shadows? I for some reason couldn’t find one. I may have to look into this again! Especially after hearing that it worked well for you!
I remember some of the models do overlap, but they don’t list some of them sometimes. I came across that somewhere or another. I will have to ask them to be certain. Then I will have to decide if I want to spend that much money on a seat for the bike. 😆 It’s something I want to do to my Road King as well. Maybe they will give me a deal on two. 😂
Got a 86 vt1100c last of two years of the high performance models got chopped in 87 . To nearly 20 hp less . 5 speed also , hey ,let’s make it better ??? 32000 and not a hicccup . Busted a belt on my Harley and was stranded for a week . No more belts !!! No more chains although ,a cpl. master links and some small tools and your on your way . I got shafted years ago and you can’t make me go back ,! Happy riding to you ! Great video ! Keep makin them ….Chuck
Definitely one nice thing about a shaft drive! Usually have very few issues. It’s nice not having to worry as much on the maintenance part of chains and belts so to say. All it takes is a rock to get in the chain or belt and there you sit like you mentioned. Thank you for watching and commenting! Ride safe!
I ride a 1998 Honda Shadow 750 ACE deluxe , it was a Christmas gift from a friend of mine. After I got my motorcycle endorsement about 3 years ago, I was looking for a bike. I went over to my friends house to hang out and told him about my motorcycle class . So we looked on Facebook for bikes and he asked me what kind do I want. I told him an entry level one, and I heard that the 750 Shadows are perfect starter bikes, very forgiving. So we saw one with over 73,000 miles, 1 owner for $1500. It was missing the front fender that’s all. So my friend had sold one of his bike’s and got this one for only $1200. He added the mustang seats, 2 up, so my wife could ride along. It was the best gift ever because it would have taken a long time to save up to get a bike. So that’s why my friend bought me this one. I replaced all the fluids , new brakes, chain, fork oil, go it ready for 2 up, it’s like a new bike. The only thing right now is that the carbs are dirty from sitting during the winter season. So I’m adding seafoam to clean out the carbs when I gas up the tank because of her hiccups and turning off while I ride, sometimes. It’s a black motorcycle and my wife named her Ebony Marie. Because at the time when I got it , she was reading MC novels and it says to name your bike, so she did. Thanks again.
Great story, man! So cool to hear! I always appreciate such descriptive comments! I visualized the whole thing and I don’t even know what you look like! 😆 That’s one thing with the Honda’s, they don’t take a lot to keep them going! Thanks again for commenting! Ride safe!
Man I love the sound of your shadow!!!! I never did change out my pipes. I bought the Electra Glide instead 😁. I have seen a few sites that sell a single seat.
Thank you! I kind of like it myself as well. 😃 Maybe you will go back and do a few things to it in time. Yeah, it doesn’t seem like I can find one for an 07 750 Spirit. If I remember, one of the other Shadow models takes the same part, I just need to research that again. Someone mentioned a Saddleman step up for it and that peaked my attention. 😃 Even though that’s not necessarily a solo seat. 😂
I have two Shadow Spirits - an 06 and an 09. The 06 is dual carb and chain drive, and the 09 is single carb and shaft drive. The 09 seems a little bigger than the 06. But the 06 is more fun to ride and is just bad a$$! The 09 is more refined. I sometimes call them naughty and nice. I remember when I first started riding both of those bikes seemed so big to me. I recently bought an HD Heritage, and now the Shadows seem so small! I bought a Mustang Day Tripper seat for the 09 after riding it in the GPMM on the stock seat.
I like the naughty and nice reference. I felt the same way before I got my 07 Road King. Now it’s like a toy. 😊 I will have to take a look at that seat. I would like to find a nice step up solo seat type thing.
I have a 2010 Spirit since January, completely stock (some small modification) and I would like to find a smaller and more comfortable individual seat. I put gel and viscoelastic on the original seat and it gained a lot in comfort, I want something like the Mustang, but not so big, it makes it very grandpa. If you find one let us know... Enjoy!
I hear ya. I feel the same exact way! If I can find something I like, and that is so expensive, I will definitely do a video on it! Thanks for watching!
Bulb wise - I am going with a Ali Express Bucket 5 3/4 inch and I got a 5 3/4 inch LED Insert unit. Apparently the OEM bucket won’t hold the inserts unless you add different L shape pieces of metal. The Honda Shadow forums have quite a few examples of people that have done it. Hope that helps. Like you I kinda want the LED option - low beam feels weak at night time
That’s the hard part. Finding or making the proper brackets to make things work. I really thought I had the bulb figured out with the last LED replacement I had, but I didn’t have a way to attach, so I sent it back. I could settle for just a replacement bulb, but want the day-maker type look. I appreciate your comment!
@@TWOWHEELDif I see something that might help - I’ll share it with you. Like yourself, I might end up back with the halogen at the end of the day - but I’m willing to give it a crack. For sure! Thank you! Yes, those times it’s nice to have some extra light! Sometimes that time of day where the headlights don’t seem to do anything is nice to have some extra light!
That sounds concerning. Mine does not do that. You may just have a loose spoke. Or could also be tire related, or something is loose around the triple tree. I’m definitely not a mechanic, but it would be worth having someone to take a look at it to be safe.
I have had the 750 shadow out a couple times this year. I have rode the VTX more this year. Your shadow sounds much better than mine. The previous owner removed the baffles. It does not sound good. The shadow is very reliable. It is not made for someone 6'3". The ride is not good. It does get 49 mpg. The tires are much cheaper than the VTX.
The previous owner of mine had taken a hole saw and cut out the baffles of the stock exhaust as well. It sounded very tinny. Putting the Cobra exhaust on definitely made a sound improvement. It definitely isn’t set up for a tall rider. I just hope I can make enough changes for it to stretch me out a bit. Are you bringing the VTX to GPMM this year? If I recall correctly, you had the 750 there last year.
I plan on bringing the VTX. I did buy a 2007 Heritage Softail. The rear brake is not working. I doubt it will be fixed in time. It also needs a front tire. It has plenty of tread. But it was put on at the factory in 2007.
Oh yeah, that tire definitely should be replaced before any longer rides. I guess the brake issue helps settle what to ride (or not to ride) as well. Hopefully that’s an easy fix for you!
Thanks for watching the opening Shadowday of 2023! Who all here rides a Honda?
I would like to see your K&N air filter conversion.
I will try to make a video on it sometime! Thanks!
