    For those who don't know, Tickety boo has originated from an Indian phrase "Thik hai Babu" meaning "Everything is fine, Sir ".

    For those of you less familiar with these terms, 'Tickety-Boo' is basically British for 'Hunky-Dory.'

    I think I have been in madly love with Danny for years. He died when I was just a few months old, but I've heard his voice more then any other mans. He is there when I need him, makes me laugh when I'm sad, and his smile is the most adorable thing. I saw an old record of his in a antique shop once, and I fainted, lol! I'm 26. ^_^

    It's such a fine day for the townspeople to have great fun and to sing along with the English school teacher Mr Andrew Larabee (played by the ever-sprightly Danny Kaye) who was in the pleasant mood while riding in his bicycle.This was one of the most-memorable and very-entertaining musical numbers in 1958 MGM's Merry Andrew. Indeed the versatility,spontaneity,and credibility of Danny Kaye in his hilarious and musical scenes were/will always be momentous,unparalleled,and tickety-boo.

    If Danny Kaye rode up on his bicycle singing this song then I would sing along with him. I don't think I'd have a choice.

    Fun fact : The French-Canadian slang ''Tigidou'', pronounced ''tee-gee-doo'' most likely comes from the term ''Tickety-Boo''. Tigidou simply meaning that ''It's all good''.

    How can no one love a man like that? I'm fifteen years old, and I love Danny Kaye. Old movies in general, but especially his. My seventeen year old sister hates him. An dold movies in general, but especially Danny Kaye. My question is, "Why? Why hate someone like that?" Respond if you agree with me.

    • @kirstenf3647
      @kirstenf3647 4 роки тому

      Yes, must be a pretty stagnant soul to to hate this, seventeen or not.. I can see not liking it, but hating this (onscreen at least...) undoubtedly weirdly happy and odd force of nature?

      I know you wrote this years ago, but ...
      I "fell in love" with Danny Kaye when I was about 7 years old, when his movie 'Hans Christian Andersen' was broadcast on TV (1966?).
      I begged for, and got the soundtrack album, and played it endlessly.
      Have you seen the film? I haven't seen it in decades, but I still remember DK's songs with the children well!
      I went on to have a crush on several other movie actors, including Clark Gable, when I read the novel GWTW and then saw the film ... in those days (1975?) old movies sometimes were shown in theatres in a limited run. Shortly before VHS was available. BTW, I was 16 when I crushed on Gable; he had died at the age of 59 in 1960, when I was still a baby. So many great old films! I recommend the Thin Man series, starring Myrna Loy and William Powell. Typical convo: "Let's go solve this crime, darling!" "Well, but I haven't finished my cocktail yet, dear. It'll have to wait a few more minutes."
