The daphne blue is gorgeous, I wish I could justify one to add it to my arsenal, but my sunburst shall suffice for now.
Super interesting about Say It Ain't So!
I find the shallow trem cavity depth strange, on mine it goes all the way down to the pickguard no issue. Mine was built early 2018, so perhaps it's a more recent issue?
Thanks for the review Mike :)

  • @BadChizzle
    @BadChizzle 3 роки тому +1

To some people the neck issue is a deal breaker. It would be even more so at the price. You know... either way... if they don’t like em big or small, it’s important. I’m a person who enjoys such differences from Guitar to Guitar, unless it’s overt. You brought up the Squier Classic Vibe line earlier, which I find to be very nice and small in that respect. The older CV Strats I have are slightly different than the newer ones, but I Love the feel of them all around. Time was taken on the details... like body angles and sexy curves on the cuts, then well rounded.
I very much enjoy your personality and approach with your playing, as well as the way you care about people. Especially these days, we are in need of this... and it’s Heartwarming to see from you.
    Thanks for the video!
    Chuk

Bought this guitar from Mike and Mikes after watching this video.. It’s my first offset, I love it. No complants about it at all, other than yeah the neck is fat. I bought a Jagstang shortly after, and its got a 7.25”, which then led me to just order a 2007 AVRI 62 JM, which has the 7.25”!…. Mike, keep up the excellent work. Just upload more again ;)

I have the AO60s Jazzmaster in Ocean Turquoise and I love it. It’s seriously the best quality guitar line Fender has ever made in my experience.
I’m not sure if the vibrato route isn’t as deep as the AV62 or if the arm collet is longer..I will measure them when I get the chance. I know these AV65/AO60s have slightly different Vibrato parts (such as the arm, for example) than the AV62. It’s only slightly different and if you don’t have one of each you would likely not notice.
Anyways, I love this AO Jazzmaster, it is god damn fantastic! :)

You know, I always thought it a shame that many musicians never attempt to use the rhythm circuit- especially those predisposed to trying a myriad of pedals to create different sounds. To me the beauty of what Fender did when creating their flagship guitars was providing all these options. And even today they are doing great things with creating non-custom guitars with features that expand their tonality. Case in point- the American Professional II series guitars and their vmod pickups, push-push pots and treble bleed circuits. I have the Pro II Strat and I've never heard a Strat with so many clearly different sounds at the push of a button. Listen to Mike, folks- embrace the rhythm circuit.

Having said this, I'm very thankful for walking through the control section on the jaguar.
I'm not a real bad ass shred master, nor some virtuoso.. but I do know my bits and tricks. And my experience at home playing so far, I'm excited to own this piece myself now.
A personal note, I bought this with a bit of money my uncle left me, I know he was a Jimi Hendrix fan, but music lover in the first place. So I dedicated the purchase to him.
I'm most certainly going to use this guitar in my rock band as rhythm guitar.

@@Fox-86 I have an AO60's Strat too! AWESOME guitar! As for the pickups in the Jag - all the AO guitars held over the pickups from the previous AV series. Except the Jag. Jaguar reverted to the pre-2012 62RI pickups. The 62 pickups aren't bad, but I'm not a huge fan of A2 pickups to begin with. They're fairly round and smooth and overall a pretty generally good pickup. The PV65 pickups were the ones from the AV65 Jaguar and they're widely regarded as some of the best Jag pickups out there for the money. They're A5 magnets and they're just a bit punchier and have a more aggressive attack. As soon as I put them in I was like, yeah that's the ticket.

@@MinivanMegafun100 thanks for your detailed reply! I'd get a jaguar mainly to play surf instrumentals, do you think that the pv 65 pickups would be better suited?

the intro jam made me so happy hahah. I own a Mexican Vintera 60s mod. Jaguar that I have a couple of years now, and it's a "modified version" of an original Jaguar, it has two humbuckers and different electronics setups. The original single coil jaguar pickups look super cool and I'm considering putting one in mine for the neck. Also the "mute-brick" looks super cool and I'm curious if there's a modification option to buy separately so I can install it on mine.

My local shop has the same one. It feels great playing it but the rhythm / lead switch & one of the roller knobs are not working correctly. I let them know & their tech is gonna check it out. Once it's proper I may pop her.

I bought a Jaguar a while back and I really like it but then I bought a 2017 Classic series 60s jazzmaster last Saturday and like I think I like the whole longer scale length better

You're not alone in that, and it's one reason that the Jaguar is always a bit softer on the resale market. A majority of players really do seem to appreciate the Strat/Tele scale length and find the Jag too short. But that's why I always step up the string gauge a bit, they really tighten up with 12s and 13s

Does anyone know how the 62 pickups on these compare to the 65s? I know it comes down to Alnico II vs Alnico V magnets. Just trying to see if it’s worth upgrading or not.

GC has a Daphne Blue exclusive Squier version of this I picked up last week; exact same looks sans the mute and has blocks instead of dots. I played 3 in total. Two were pretty bad, but the one I brought home is an absolute gem. It has been a revelation to my playing. Every single selection (including rhythm and strangle) are not only usable, but musical. I have put a Descendant on it and will likely change out the bridge for a Halon or tune-o-Matic, but it really didn’t need any mods to be awesome all on its own. BTW, Mike, it would be awesome if you could review one of those Halon bridges. Maybe I could send you my Jag for a review if I end up putting one on it.

Great guitar I got the exact same one earlier this year and really love it! I played two different ones at 2 different GCs. Mine still needed a good setup though. I have 10s on it. 9s were way too slinky. Totally different animal compared to my other couple of Fender Strats and Gibsons...

14:46 Are you sure that ground wire was really hanging loose, or did it just come free when you took the trem off? On my AO Jazzmaster, on the pickguard, the ground wire to the bridge thimble is just sandwiched between the pickguard and the guitar body, and held there by the pressure of the pickguard being screwed down. Seems possible they'd do the same with the trem.
