You need an air stone for your fish!! My daughter breeds fish she is the one who told me about air stones! Also I was at a Fish Convention over the weekend and I won this exact same tank at a raffle they were having. I agree it is really unique looking! I love my new tank!!
You are a lucky man. Love the way your girl decorated this tank. Just got the same one and am looking for ideas. Decorating a tank can be a daunting task.
just get the exact same Asian ornament, wood log, rocks, etc. At my local PetSmart. Need 6 to 8 pounds of gravel and I went with white gravel over sand (heard the sand can get all over everything when cleaning). Nice little tank. Ghost crabs are great for the bottom to help keep the tank cleaner. The corner net and magnetic glass cleaner is a must.
Your tank looks awesome. I was actually thinking about the same one but what worries me is the lack of water surface to air contact for oxygen exchange to take place. You mentioned this when you noticed your fish breathing. Did you ever find out if it was an issue or not?
the thing about small tanks are the smaller they are the more cleaning you have to do a tank like this i would do a 50% water change a week with that many fish in it and not fill it up all the way leave a little room at the top so the fish can gulp air but and add live plant they add more oxygen to the water but other then that you should be good..... peace
He only has the filter on the lowest setting that's why there isn't much oxygen. I set up mine today and it floods the tank with tiny air bubbles that cling to everything. I searched the internet and found out that the filter on full is enough to filter and aerate a 20 gallon tank and this is only a 6 gallon so it works brilliantly and the bubbles look amazing with the light on.
what swooplop says is very true. My fluval edge has condensation bubbles all over the top and does not look as sleek because of the fact my betta was grasping for air when i had filled her to the top
@popeyeswife I have the exact same driftwood decoration (though mine is laying down flat, and his is up on its side) and it is quite a pain to get it in and out. I usually have to twist and turn it until it fits. And once it's in, you can't rotate it around.
I actually managed to get the sand from PETCO. If you have the older model the sand turns yellowish. I have the newer led version of the tank and I got the white sand and at some angles it looks nice. I am debating posting a video but I might soon. I just planted new plants in there too
Bought one yesterday. Guy at the store assured us we don't need a heater. Read some other stuff online that agreed, but the jury's really still quite out. Did you end up getting a heater? Thanks - hope our tank turns out a nice as yours! :)
Hi I'm considering to buy this but I need to know how big the hole up is because I wan't to put in some bigger things I couldn't find anything in the internet so can you please tell me the mesurements of it? it would be very important to me thanks :)
With no bubbles coming from the filter, I'm guessing there isn't a lot of oxygen in the water so I would presume this style of aquarium would need some good oxygenating plants in there. Also as Sassy pointed out, there is probably still ammonia and nitrites in the water which is what is causing the tetras some distress. You should use a water testing kit to make sure all the ammonia and nitrites have cycled into nitrates before adding fish, since the former two are toxic to them.
@xXForbidd3n3vil It's fairly obvious he doesn't care. To him it's just a cool office decoration, not a bunch of little fishy lives he's responsible for.
i just purchased this tank and have encountered the problem with the condensation bubbles, do you know how i can get rid of these, im new to the aquarium community. thx
I dont think it would be ideal to put a betta in this tank because there's not space for the betta to get air except for that tiny spiace at the top. unless you want to make the water level a bit lower. But that wouldnt look as nice as filling it up to the top and adding tetras like you did (Y) :)
hi i watched a video on here just a min ago he say's you need a heater for it? in in most video's people dont have heater's in them do you need a heater? may thank's jake
I have this tank in white, and I have some questions about what kind of fish I have in it. I have 3 neon tetras, 3 glass catfish, and 1 cory cat. Is this too much? Thanks.
Don't get this tank, it is terrible and way too small for that many fish, it also has no air pockets. Many fish need to air breathe ar regular intervals. Tetras like to be at the top of the aquarium. IR might look cool, but it I not fair on the fish. If you want a nano tank go for an aqua one and do lora of research on aquascaping and water conditioning etc. Don't use harsh chemicals.
viciouswolf1111 I have loads of fish in this tank and they are all fine happy and healthy, the difference is its not full all the way to the top so there's an air pocket. (They are all in there until I move them into 35gal) and after they've moved out I'm going to get something like 8 zebra dannios or so thing like that to keep it running because it looks quite nice.
Fine, ignore me, buy the tank, stick a gourami in it and watch it suffocate, most aquariam fish need access to an area of unstressed water to breath air, you don't provide them with that, some will stunt and ie young, some will just outright die, such as a gourami or a siamese fighting fish which is unfortunately popular with these tanks, then the poor things die in a fortnight.
Sam Jones No their isn't *facepalm. It is too rapid. The fish that are usually advertised for this product are Gouramis and Goldfish. This tank isn't fit for any fish, only crustaceans.
it's a nice tank but the oxygen is what I'm worried about. Not much gap on top to allow air in and the only place for the fish to get air is right under two bright light.
2 things. What substrate are you using? It's to fine. It looks great! and second if you think the fish gasping is possibly a result from not enough oxygen then the water line should be a little bit lower so that some air bubbles are cycling through the water. Just a possibility.
@xMsValox I have the same tank, no heater the neons do fine (about 3 months)... the lights may heat it enough not sure. My tetras get a little tired, you gotta turn down the flow rate on the filter otherwise the current wears them out too much.
anyone know if its possible to fit a Mini Heater in the middle of the filter media and cartridge? that would be a better sight than seeing a big black heater inthe background of the aquarium
I am wondering why you post and then dont answer any questions! It does seem to be all about you like someone else said! I love this tank and the totally enclosed look but some fish like to gulp air like my Beta does, maybe Tetras dont, not sure. I took back my beautiful half moon tank after I researched that they like horizontal swimming space and I wanted an all water look so I made sure it had a rim to hide the water line, that way it would be about me and my fish and not just me! If it were about me I would totally buy this because its gorgeous and has horizontal swimming room, but then realized my fishy cant gulp air except maybe that one spot but then seems current would be to strong there! Gorgeous tank though, to bad you dont reply to any questions!
I was wondering about the gravel too. Where did you get the fine white sand like that? - It reminds me of a zen garden. Just ordered the same tank for my son for Christmas - your tank is really nice - I'm an architect so I know!
Using live plants instead of artificial will also help with oxygen release and will help your fish breathe better
You need an air stone for your fish!! My daughter breeds fish she is the one who told me about air stones! Also I was at a Fish Convention over the weekend and I won this exact same tank at a raffle they were having. I agree it is really unique looking! I love my new tank!!
Your girl did a fantastic job decorating! & I see her.
nice tank..looks good in the office setting..i take my hat off to ur girl on the decorations..very well put together..GOD BLESS
You are a lucky man. Love the way your girl decorated this tank. Just got the same one and am looking for ideas. Decorating a tank can be a daunting task.
I have one and these are hard to clean. Nice design but not practical.
Very nice aquarium indeed. Great interior and fish choises.
I love this fish tank, really nice for a professional environment you're right.
ammonia is why they are "panting"
For being fake plants and fake everything, the sand really gives it a nice beachy feel and bright. Its nice.
this is the tank i want for my room i love the way its set out :) very good x
Do you still have this tank. Can you upload a update video. this tank is what got me in the hobby. So thank you for making it so zen looking.
Thank you! I have been looking at the tank to buy for our fantail. Your video was really helpful.

dont worry, tetras dont need to come to the top to breath, only bettas. Nice tank!
the panting from the tetras are regular and the fish are scooling fish, which means that they stay in groups
i love it!! im buying one tomorrow, great decor. thanks for the video.
Great decoration

i love your fluval edge fish tank!
That tank looks really good!!
Nice tank. one if the best I've seen
that's a really nice setup
Well done! I love the wood piece and pagoda. Can you please tell me where you bought them?
Nice looking tank.
I can't even keep a Chia pet alive.
That's a bad ass tank.
tetras like a slightly acidic PH by the way so if you wanna check that out it would be smart, may be why they are panting or stressed
@Mikenopolis I dont do water changes since the fish are so small and clean. The sand looks great.
nice set up, i got one last month
That tank looks freaking awesome.
You should throw some shrimp in there.
Fire reds or oebt's would be nice.

@Neo1981dk
Not really, all you hear is a low hum sound. If you take the lid off of the filter itself it even makes it quieter.
@xMsValox There is no heater. The neons are dead. I have different fish now.
Lol I thought I would check you're tank out and to me it looks pretty awesome nice one mate
Nice set up!
nice tank
@Bakushan you don't clean it? O_o... and it is still so clean? So you just have to feed them and thats all?
Your tank looks AMAZING!!!!
Yeah it is a real hassle. I have had mine for about a year and that small opening just isn't enough room for cleaning each week or so.
Pretty girl on photo beside the aquarium! You are a lucky guy! ;-)
The thing about that rule of thumb is that it's pretty much bunk.
Nice tank but to many fish for such a young tank in my opinion.
Wait, wouldn't the Tetra's get sucked into the filter tube, because they're so small, lol.
How the hell did you fit everything in that tank through that small hole..
love the tank! great set up!
@lgogis they sell the exact decor in this video at Petsmart.
@Bakushan Well, it's been 6 months. Are the tropical fish you have still alive after half a year of swimming in freezing cold, poop-filled water?
I actually managed to get the sand from PETCO. If you have the older model the sand turns yellowish. I have the newer led version of the tank and I got the white sand and at some angles it looks nice. I am debating posting a video but I might soon. I just planted new plants in there too

How you clean the inside top? .. everything looks cool. But them little fish make it suck
Hi There,
Where did you find the decor? Just bought the Edge and having trouble finding simular decorations. Thanks!
how many pounds of gravel do you need for 6 gallon? I don't want to waste money on a second 5 lb bag if I don't need it.
Hi I'm considering to buy this but I need to know how big the hole up is because I wan't to put in some bigger things I couldn't find anything in the internet so can you please tell me the mesurements of it? it would be very important to me thanks :)
thats a cool tank!!
Where is the heater at??
With no bubbles coming from the filter, I'm guessing there isn't a lot of oxygen in the water so I would presume this style of aquarium would need some good oxygenating plants in there. Hi, I'm getting one soon for my birthday. How do you clean the glass? Isn't it annoying?
I'm not sure he answers questions about this tank. Haven't seen any replies. Anyway nice tank. How it it holding up now that you have had it a bit?
@xXForbidd3n3vil It's fairly obvious he doesn't care. To him it's just a cool office decoration, not a bunch of little fishy lives he's responsible for.
@ThePencilShredder Oh? He just sits there and chills.
Nice fish man, all in a days work worrying about them :)
do you have a betta? if yes, just buy a magnetic wipe (used for algae) made by fluval. if you do not have a betta, just fill the water to the top?
@drychalice lift the light top and the light and then theres a big hole did you not notice between 0:50 Till 1:05
nice & cute tank
nice setup
What did you use for gravel? Looks great!
i just purchased this tank and have encountered the problem with the condensation bubbles, do you know how i can get rid of these, im new to the aquarium community. thx

Great setup, definitely want to get something like this.

Well if their is an air pocket then it won't be quite as bad as that is the fatal design flaw. But naive people fill it as the ad shows.

@Bakushan it sucks that theres going to be a lockout
Hi there is your tank very loud my is and I cant get rid of the air bubbles with my Algae scrapper
Hi, do you have any details on the decorations and sand please? (Links would be epic)
Where is your heater? I LOVE your tank and decor.
Nice tank!!!
it's a nice tank but the oxygen is what I'm worried about. Not much gap on top to allow air in and the only place for the fish to get air is right under two bright light.
Yea I was curious about that... there's no air bubbles or nothing
Use life plants egg
Will liquid oxygen be fine?
absolutly LOVE this tank, tell me, how are you heating it?? were is your heater????
His fish are probably freezing! Thats why they are panting! A heater would mess up that stylish sleek look!
2 things. What substrate are you using? It's to fine. It looks great! and second if you think the fish gasping is possibly a result from not enough oxygen then the water line should be a little bit lower so that some air bubbles are cycling through the water. Just a possibility.
I have air bubbles on mine at the very top, any tips on how to get rid of them? :)
Quoting American Psycho, too, too fabulous
I'd that sand on bottom??? How does the plants survive
@xMsValox
I have the same tank, no heater the neons do fine (about 3 months)... the lights may heat it enough not sure.
My tetras get a little tired, you gotta turn down the flow rate on the filter otherwise the current wears them out too much.
Isn't the evaporation pretty bad with the open top?
@zenvent Yes. The lights are very hot. I dont run a heater.
anyone know if its possible to fit a Mini Heater in the middle of the filter media and cartridge? that would be a better sight than seeing a big black heater inthe background of the aquarium
@jgbartsoff The chi is much smaller.. but makes relaxing water noises, I have both but i prefer the fluval edge instead.
those fish are choking. just like tony romo.
Your best chance of getting one is online.. I can't find them in any pet store..
Would you min sharing where you got that piece of wood? Looks great.
I am wondering why you post and then dont answer any questions! It does seem to be all about you like someone else said! Gorgeous tank though, to bad you dont reply to any questions!
Richard Nation this video is 9 years old.
i just got a edge tank today is it ok to add more deco and plants later on
@alexkaramanolis A magnetic glass cleaner.
Its a real nice tank
I was wondering about the gravel too. Where did you get the fine white sand like that? - It reminds me of a zen garden. Just ordered the same tank for my son for Christmas - your tank is really nice - I'm an architect so I know!
hi dude, nice tank. Where did you get the oriental type ornament and also the large rock, I like it ?
epic layout!!!
yea where did you get the decorations there so neat.
i like that gravel
