The strips hanging from the Cataphractii shoulder pads are called "pteruges." Lovely miniatures; looks like you lucked out with the casting quality! The thought of mold slips across the scaled armor details makes me shudder.
Good armour knowledge there, thank you. Slippage is due to poor production control and / or excessive mould age. The location of the mould seam is down to the skill of the mould makers. Given this I've not lucked out as the seams were cut to run across parts of the armour without scale detail. As long as the mould makers continue to cut the moulds in the correct place slips across these details will never be an issue.
Phenomenal stuff. Love how the heads & pauldrons are separate parts. Some really incredible details on the scales/chains. Also I'm liking how the edges on tops of the thigh plates recall the rims on the Headhunter (or Dynat) pauldrons. As a whole they would make a really cohesive force. I was worried these guys would end up looking like Snakey McSnakeman raided Serpentor's closet but these guys look great. Love the look of the C. Beamer, I've never seen anybody take it but I'd be seriously tempted just seeing how cool it is. The axes are seriously nice as well. Even if I'd most likely end up giving them Power Fists or Chainfists, Power Axes are always en vogue for Sargents & other PA troops.
Excellent review, as always! As for the straps hanging from their shoulder pads, the closest real-world approximation I'm reminded of would be Pteruges ("feathers"), often depicted hanging from the waist on Greek hoplite armour: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pteruges
It would be nice to see them painted of course =) everybody seems to make alpha legion a different shade of blue, so that always makes them interesting
The first Alpha Legion model I show for colours is Autilon Skorr which I'm working on at the moment. It's interesting painting AL, you can be really creative with the blue..... or is it green?
While not a conversion beamer, Legio XIV's Grave Warden Terminators do have the option to upgrade to a heavy flamer with Chem-munitions, this is reflected in the kit. For Barbarus!
I don’t know if you noticed this, but these guys were revealed alongside Alpharius with the same shitty gun grips the Space Wolf Terminators had. They ended up pulling the models from the reveal page and fixing them before re-revealing them lol
Sharp eyes! But can you get the diamond award for spotting missing details by spotting the two other areas on the models where little things are missing?
Thanks, now I can tell how much my order will cost. Thanks for the help and for the excellent content and commentary you provide. I always enjoy your videos.
Why are they still releasing 30k stuff after that crap they pulled I'm not going to start now nor will I ever if they don't put the upgrade packs back up
The battlecry of Legio XX is as follows: "For the Emperor!" Clearly loyalists, unlike those traitors of Legio I, the "Dark" Angels. Clue is in the title 😉😁
I don't think there are many units or characters left to make from the first 7 books now. The Ultras still need 2 characters and 2 units to be made though
Excellent unboxing and first look mate.
Thank mate 👍🏻

Thank you kind sir! Good armour knowledge there, I shall practice the pronunciation in preparation for the build and tactics review.
I've always pronounced it like "terry-jays" "or tero-gays" but classical Greek isn't my strongpoint. I look forward to hearing your attempt! :)

leakycheese I am aquamarine
Very nice! Thanks so much for posting
Great review and unboxing! These are gorgeous terminator models!

Thank you mate and yes I agree, these are awesome!
You are so lucky! I would like Alpharius, but I really want these guys.
Those details , but I have to finish first what i have. But Alpha legion will get a army shelf in my hobbyroom😊 good stuff and keep rocking buddy😎
Great, look forward to getting some.
Looks good with those termies, couple more boxes and full squad with conversion beams to snipe the things out.

These are fantastic models! And I hope your right about the redesign!
Great look thanks
Those did cast very well, great video fella!
Uhhhh they do look good, I love the scale armour :D
Agreed mate!
Forgeworld just listed this in their “Last Chance To Buy”.

I beat they're all Alpharius simultaneously
We are legion! 😉
leakycheese When you finish the terminators and Alpharius can you do a size comparison? Now I'm unbelievably curious.
Yes, I'll make sure those questions, and more, are answered.
leakycheese Awesome I wonder how big Alpharius is in comparison to his elites.
Looks like they forgot to sculpt the handle of the conversion beamer. That's just a clenched fist.
Sharp eyes!

neat stuff will see more
Beautiful models, too bad that they couldn’t use the same care in making legion terminators for the Space Wolves.
I feel as if I got the Space Wolves ones, I would purposely paint the fur as a bunch of bananas, or plantains if I was feeling like a PR
Do you think it's possible to convert these guys for 40K?
Damn it. My freaking wallet is gonna hurt. *shakes fist*
Yes, the Alpha Legion have camped mine out with detachment of the Lernaean... no shifting them!
So did forge world fire their painting staff resently? The space wolf and afterwords look not as amazing as these ones
i am spartacus, no wait batman... Uh
Beautiful kit. Argh, must resist buying Alpha Legion!
I didn't hear you say how much this kit cost. How much was it? If you don't mind me asking?
Yeah sure, these guys are £60 in the UK. Hope that helps!
Thanks, now I can tell how much my order will cost. Thanks for the help and for the excellent content and commentary you provide. I always enjoy your videos.
You're welcome and thank you.
Do you know when these will be available to buy?
I reckon in the next 2-3 weeks, Alpharius probably 4-6.
Why are they still releasing 30k stuff after that crap they pulled I'm not going to start now nor will I ever if they don't put the upgrade packs back up
Looks like broken Arabic on the back
Always said you were a heretic ;D, or are Alpha Legionnaires heretics?
