Thanks for making this! I honestly really like swamps. Specifically Mangrove swamps. I don't know why, but the look of Mangrove wood and their roots just appeals to me, and I just think Wetlands (Swamps, Marshes, Bogs/Mires) are just really cool as a in general.
I really appreciate the sasquatch sounds. i listen to this all the time while doing solo gaming. i keep rolling a timer die for the sasquatch in the swamp to show up during combat. i take a while to do things, so when the roars come in, thats when i move the timer die the Squatch has almost shown up a few times, but the party scrams when combat is done, who wants to run into that? lol
Ooh, I love this! This makes me wanna run a campaign with a high level swamp. Why are swamps always low level! Where are the thirty foot long sarcosuchi?
from the first second on I get the feeling of having to hit mosquitos around me ;-) I love the bubbling quietly in the background and the off and on howling in the distance ... great ambience. again! :-)
We should apply insectoid, necrophage, and draconid oils to our weapons and combustion light sources in addition to imbibing antiparisitic potions as well.
I noticed the inhuman roars in the distance. The creepy thing is, I just looked up two of Lousiana's biggest cryptids that reside in the dark American Bayous, the Honey Island Swamp Monster (a sasquatch-like monster) and the Rougarou, a werewolf-like beast of Cajun and French folklore.
I’d be worried after hearing that loud monstrous roar, maybe even think about traversing the trees rather than the mucky mud and waist high water where something could very well snatch me out of nowhere. A lot of nasty beasties who call the swamp home, but there may be beauty found in such a local if you look hard enough I suppose. Just don’t get lost and you should be fine.
Let me speak first of revelations And next of dark deceit Then I'll speak of champions Of lovers, gods, and beasts My song is long and twisted It winds, it worms, it wends It carries few, it drowns many, and those I love it rends My song has taken hold of me It grips my tongue, my throat My voice cries truths I never knew And to fight is just to choke So let me dwell eternal And in ruined flesh ascend For my song has no beginning And the current flows on without end If I could trace with bloodless fingers If my hands could shape the flow I'd bear this song to the precipice And rend us both to dust below We'd both go plunging downwards One final fall from grace I'd howl, I'd scream, in victory And we'd be gone without a trace But we'll never be rid of eachother My song, my sorrow, and I So I'll bear it trembling onwards To drift on, to dream, to die And where my final footsteps fall Something dreadful shall arise It's gaze shall fall o'er trembling plains It's wrath shall scald the sun And where once it's howling forebears walked Some day there shall be none The wise man knows the taste of rot All lovers part as dust And even the kings, in their bowers of steel Shall wither, in ruin, and rust.
This is so fantastic, and great for my campaign! Would you be able to create something similar in a normal forest? In my campaign, every forested area is plagued by hideous monsters and vicious, Druidic tribal elves, and these forests are spreading like a plague due to Druidic magic. Any ambience that would make a forest sound threatening would be awesome.
Michael Ghelfi I imagine that the feeling is that some sort of evil stalks just out of view. All of the normal animals, like birds and things, have fled, and the only creatures left are strange and corrupted. I find elk calls pretty creepy, and I imagine many of the monsters like fiends from the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, meaning elk carry a strong theme. If there is birdsong, it might sound strange and off. Usually I find that ambiences with too many loud sounds (eg crow cawing) is disruptive when playing, but things like creepy roars, gurgling, or breathing, maybe some rustling of bushes, add to the mood (I have nothing against crows, they make pretty freaky sounds). If it helps, I love your Dungeon Filled with Monsters, and this one, Dark Swamps. The pacing and mood is just what I’m looking for. Thank you for asking for specifics!

I just had an idea! Have you done any music for "competitive fantasy sports"? I'm thinking Steampunk/Victorian Style background music that you might hear played at some fancy competition by an orchestra.
I don't understand your question. What is competitive fantasy sports ? E-Sport ? Like CS:GO or LoL tournaments ? I'm not sure there's a demand for that, or they could use what I've already composed. (PS : I don't write music sheets down)
I've been using this soundtrack for my D&D group and they started to talk about herbs all of the sudden. Is this normal? Thanks for your work and go to hell Killer Croc.

The dislikes are just from people who fell into the swamp and are now wet and cranky.
Teaaaaa

You know, when I finally stop being a human, I want to live in a place just like this.

Gonna use this for my own Dead Dragon’s Swamp, where a great Black Dragon thought long dead has been surviving on low food for 500 years.

This is perfect ambient music for my current read…and oh damn!!! Even the monsters!! ❤
as a gator hunter i can say the swamp does come alive at night. amazing how loud it gets.
I actually grew up in a swamp. Sounds just like my childhood, lol. I remember foxfire and playing with it.
Found the one I'm going to use.
So how did it go?

petty cool sounds, they sound realistic
Finally, one that sounds like a swamp.
Many thanks for posting this! We used it as background audio for our pirate skeleton yard haunt - it was the perfect touch 🙂

This is awesome! I've got a Character going south in a book I'm writing and this is really setting my mood for the scene just right.
Now I wanna know what in the name of Lovecraft is that roar in the distance
Was a black dragon in tonight's game session

"Sounds like Kong!" - Chunk, 'The Goonies'
Let me speak first of revelations
And next of dark deceit
Then I'll speak of champions
Of lovers, gods, and beasts
My song is long and twisted
It winds, it worms, it wends
It carries few, it drowns many, and those I love it rends
My song has taken hold of me
It grips my tongue, my throat
My voice cries truths I never knew
And to fight is just to choke
So let me dwell eternal
And in ruined flesh ascend
For my song has no beginning
And the current flows on without end
If I could trace with bloodless fingers
If my hands could shape the flow
I'd bear this song to the precipice
And rend us both to dust below
We'd both go plunging downwards
One final fall from grace
I'd howl, I'd scream, in victory
And we'd be gone without a trace
But we'll never be rid of eachother
My song, my sorrow, and I
So I'll bear it trembling onwards
To drift on, to dream, to die
And where my final footsteps fall
Something dreadful shall arise
It's gaze shall fall o'er trembling plains
It's wrath shall scald the sun
And where once it's howling forebears walked
Some day there shall be none
The wise man knows the taste of rot
All lovers part as dust
And even the kings, in their bowers of steel
Shall wither, in ruin, and rust.
I like The Roar
